This type of graphics (painted environments) needs to happen more often on the iPad. It's a great fit for the platform, as it doesn't require too much power, and looks great on the iPad screen.

THIS!!!
(not to mention I'm praying the game makes its way on iPad).

To me, 2D iso >>>>>>>>>> 3D.

.... What are you talking about? That's Project Eternity, the PC Kickstarter RPG...not an iPad game. Or do you mean "artstyle like this SHOULD happen"? Because that's definitely not an ipad game/screen.

The amount of work that went into that piece from Project Eternity is mindblowing. I don't see the average iOS dev having the artist capacity to support that level of quality for a proper adventure game.

Mage Gauntlet is still the benchmark for virtual controls imo.

I think Bastion took the crown away from Mage Gauntlet for best virtual controls.

Unless Apple drops the ball somehow on the 23rd, I'm selling my iPad 2 and going Mini as soon as it's out. When I've got one I'm going to go back to Aquaria and finally finish it up. I'm thinking the smaller and lighter Mini will make that game much more enjoyable to play.

So, Avernum VI is out on iOS. It seems to have some updated art compared to the older PC/Mac versions (I'm not sure if it's just the portraits or the whole thing from the small screenshots on iTunes). It's weird it releases just after Escape from the Pit which is a remake of the first Avernum. Why skip all the rest games? If it's a full remake like Escape from the Pit then why not make it multi platform like the others? And if it's not a full remake then, again, why release it instead of remaking these games in order and on par with each other? Oh well. Edit: I think it's not a full remake or a substantial enhancement, a game play video I just saw on YouTube shows character movement isn't smooth like in their latest games, they just pop from tile to tile. Unless that's a setting.

Apple should probably just come out with a standard controller for the iPad, and a standard attachment for the iPhone.

I wish developers would abandon virtual controls once and for all. There's got to be a better way...

actually Lili does it perfectly. Tap to walk and drag the screen to turn.

In the case of Oceanhorn, why not do something similar to the Phantom Hourglass controls?

That would be great, even if they just officially endorsed a third-party solution or made some standard APIs that allow any third-party to make a controller that interfaces with the OS in a predictable way for developers to implement. Any kind of controller that can gain significant traction would be very welcome.

Wow does Infinity Blade grind to a halt around level 45. Getting gold so slowly I can't get any new items so I can't gain experience anymore.

Any gold farming tips?

Yeah that's what I mean. It's true PE is sadly never coming to the iPad, as it's against the vision of the devs, and would negatively affect the donations.

I'm thinking of going on a little spending-spree and let it be my last purchases of the year, besides Phoenix Wright Trilogy and Curiosity. Here's what I have in mind so far:

  • The Walking Dead
  • The Room
  • Beat Sneak Bandit
  • Tiny Wings HD
  • Girls Like Robots
  • Video Downloader Super+ (app)

Dunno what else.

I don't think MC is that good on iOS.

TWD is definitely better on PC. The iOS version is 2 episodes behind.

Can anyone gift me crazy taxy to my usa itunes account?
The game is not available in my region. I can paypal the money to whoever that wishes to help out.

I think I'll cross out Minecraft.

I'm more an iOS gamer. Not a PC gamer at all and I don't wanna sit in front of the big screen. So Walking Dead would be perfect on iOS for me. Being 2 episodes behind won't matter, I'll be surprised if I can even get through a game. :)

Any other suggestions?
I'm not into RPG games and I'm not looking for any more Racers.

I got both iPad 2 and iPhone 5.

Skip Minecraft, get Junk Jack if you're into that genre.

Consider:

Incoboto
Dead Space
Waking Mars
King of Dragon Pass
World of Goo
Osmos HD
Crazy Hedgy
League of Evil 2
Windosill
Dynamite Jack
Machinarium

If you are remotely interested in minicraft, junk jack is really good.
It doesn't appeal to me sorry. :)

You can't go wrong with Radballs!
Got that one already.

I got the bolded and isn't interested in the rest as per say. I got King of Dragon Pass on my radar but it's too expensive and I got a bunch of adventure games to get through anyway. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Just started playing Beat Sneak Bandit. Great game! having a lot of fun with it. Way more challenging then I thought it would be.

I tried Junk Jack but didn't really "get it". There isn't really a tutorial or a anything to tell you what to do.

There's a demo worth looking at if curious...

Also, wtf Lili? Downloaded it for iPhone and it kept crashing as I was pressing "start" until I restarted the device. Now it works, but I'm scared. 4S here btw.

Anybody tried Recess Riot. I really love the game. I randomly came across it yesterday. From the same people who brought us MegaWorm.

It would really thrive if a lot of people are playing it and competing for high scores.

Oh, forgot about that one. Super Mega Worm is a lot of fun and I'm sure Recess Riot is also. I'll check it out.

I know i'm late but I have had jetpack joyride on my iphone 4 forever, recently upgraded to the iphone 5 and was going through all my stuff. I cant put my damn phone down now because of jetpack, the games addicting

There's no demo...

Why'd you do it to me Smiley? WHY?

Say what? I have the demo right here on my phone... -confused-... Oh wait, maybe it got pulled? I remember something like that, that the demo once was out there and then got pulled... damn, sorry, forgot about that :(

We are no longer pen pals

*takes back pen*

New Granny Smith levels are actually somewhat difficult. Looks like they listened to feedback.

Anyone play Girls Like Robots? Wary of the 5 star TA review.

Its quite common problem. If you haven't been shut down or restart for long time.

ooooh I see. weird. Also, the game creates crazy heat. Seems to be one of the more performance-hungry games :/
Yeah the device get warmer when any heavy 3D hungry games. iPad3 can get really hot on warm day. Almost hot enough to feel hurt bit

Has anyone used a Wiimote in conjunction with Blutrol? I can't seem to get it to work, not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm making profiles the same as I would with the iCade, except picking Wiimote as the controller and mapping the controls to Wiimote buttons. Then I connect the Wiimote in the Blutrol app, and start whatever game I've mapped controls for, but it never works, the apps don't recognise any input from the Wiimote. Any thoughts?

Yes. It's absolutely tremendous. I've played for an hour and getting great marks is already nightmarishly hard. In a good way.

Good list, but don't forget to get Bastion if you haven't already played it.

Oh God, Avernum 6's anime portraits are terrible. Vogel desperately needs a talented artist or two... I understand that he makes enough money to survive as it is, but his games could be selling really, really good if he put some more effort in their graphics...

It's an Unreal engine bug, can't believe they haven't fixed it yet. Happened to me on IB and Epoch.
