I see that gif will be getting a lot of mileage.

It blows my mind that HASBRO is using KRE-O instead of LEGO. Insane. Official LEGO GI JOE would be a license to print money.

Lego probably said no. Most everyone would want their stuff done by Lego, but they have limited catalog space each quarter and have to juggle the licenses. And GI Joe is not really hip with the kids these days, the last show fizzled because the Hub completely ignored it and didn't market it and the movies are nowhere. The stuff also looks based on 80's classic Joes which again Lego would likely have no interest in.

Hasbro and Kre-O also seem to have some kind of deal going on with their properties.

Kre-O is owned by Hasbro. It's their entry into building toys. Lego will never get the GI Joe, Transformers or My Little Pony licenses.

Having picked up a few of the Kreo transformers sets, mainly for the Kreon figures, they are not bad but compared to the lego sets they do feel a bit B-grade. Also just about every Kreo set I have got has been missing pieces, not cool. The kreon figures do have a bit more articulation but alot of the accessories are reused, the helmets never fit tight and fall off and the quality of plastic feels cheap. The sets themselves are ok, Optimus Prime is really great in truck mode and looks nice displayed, Starscream as well in jet mode but thats really all I can suggest. GI Joe seems like a much better fit for the line with the possibilities of nice sets with vehicles. If they don't do huge ass U.S.S. FLAGG and Terrordrome sets they are clueless and leaving money on the table.

I'm going to wait for Winter Village Cottage set till black friday. I picked up the Winter Post Office from amazon warehouse, like new $49. I'm worried though because my Holiday Bakery set was supposed to show up a couple days ago and its been just sitting in Hebron Ky for 3 days. Last time this happened to me with USPS I got a plastic baggie 2 weeks later with a piece of the backage and shipping label with just a note saying Whoopsie, sorry about destroying your package better luck next time.

Broken record time! People, jump on this set! It is awesome.

I would have loved to, but spent waaaay to much money on Lego in the last few weeks :(. It's already OOS as well.

Edit: Helm's Deep is $20 off and Weathertop is $5 off on Amazon right now as well, not sure if they're matching someone or what. Would love to get those, or at least Helm's Deep for $20 off. Those two (and the smaller set that connects to Helm's Deep) are the only LotR sets I like at all, and literally none of the upcoming Hobbit sets do anything for me at all. I suppose this is actually a good thing since this means that there's probably no new sets I'll want until next year.

I said "wow".

Exactly.

I added a side-by-side comparison to my original post. While there may be one or two new parts (and the boat may be smaller), it's still a direct repaint of the original Battleship sets.

Even Hasbro knows that Kreons are the main reason to buy Kre-O sets.

Ugh, I've been on a LEGO Technic binge for the past few months & my purchases of the Creator & Modular themes have been lagging behind. I'm really glad/sad that I didn't get into the licensed sets.

I'm currently trying to get a Green Grocer & Cafe Corner off one guy but he won't sell it to me because he wants to sell it all together with his City theme sets in a bundle.

When did LEGOs get so badass again with their themes? Monster Hunters and DINO are both AMAZING themes.

Monster Hunters, yes. Dino, no. The only great thing about the Dino sets is the dinos themselves. The sets themselves and the mini figs leave much to be desired too, and their are insanely priced for the piece count as well.

I do plan on snagging one or two of the bigger sets though just for the Dinos.

My daughter is mad for dinosaurs. I bought three of the sets for Christmas when they were on sale, mainly for the dinos. I suppose some of the pieces will be reusable, but it feels a bit ' power miners' to me - lots of custom pieces that aren't that flexible for other things. We have one power miners set and I keep the pieces away from our main collection because there are too many that would confuse our system and mess stuff up

I am going to hit the area Wal-Marts the day after Christmas since they usually discount some Lego sets 50% off. I think the Dino sets will be marked this way as they were out shortly after Christmas there last year. Some luck SOB got Slave 1 and Endor for 50% off the year before. I'll have to get there early this year.

I managed to pick up all the Dino sets this summer on sale during my travels. Now I'm trying to figure out a way to sell the sets, minus the dinosaurs themselves. Even the minifigs in this theme are bland.

Monster Fighters on the other hand are oozing with "personality", cool builds and inspired designs. I'm hoping TLG gives that theme another wave of kits.

Finally finished the Robie House. WOW - amazing build. Worth $200? Doubt it...But if you can find it on the cheap, it's a crazy awesome display. So intricate and well designed!

I ordered one of each Dinosaur type off brick link for my son's Dino themed first birthday party today but they still haven't shown up.

Oh well still looking forward to seeing them. I got 2 of the raptors though, as you do.

The sets themselves I guess are cool I guess for kids but I was only interested in the dinos

Just picked up the Winter Village Cottage for double VIP points. I now have 30 dollars in credit and have to wait until Jan 2013 to spend them on TMNT stuff.

Stopped by the closest Toys R Us to see what poly bags they have and all they have is the LOTR Frodo and his cooking corner... Pretty lame since I just received Gandalf Arrives and Shelob Attacks. I was hoping for the clock and ghost or even the Urukhai polybag.

Oh well. Time to hide the wallet and take a break from purchases... Though I still want to pick up the three new Series 2 Star Wars planets.

Man.

Ghost bag is Target only here in the states. Check their Halloween section for it. Mine is out, but they strangely have lots of Friends polybags in the area, even of it isn't Halloween themed.

There she is in all her glory. What a great build! Yes, there is repetition as you build each side of the model and the wings, but the techniques, parts and sheer scale of what you are building more than makes up for it. And dat cockpit!

Aww. The cool, sexy new girl with her ugly cousin.

Glad to hear positive impressions of the build. Knew that FBTB was being overly critical of it.

Monster Hunters are what got me excited about LEGOs again and now I'm almost more hooked than my kid.

Go. Buy. The. Modulars.

Doctor Phoney Bone commands you!

Went back to Costco today to see if they had somehow gotten the Star Wars Lego advent calendars back in or if they were still rocking those crappy and overpriced Star Wars sets (like the Ewok one). Nope.

They had two new sets in for $30 apiece - the big mining truck (4202) and that Creator transport chopper (7345). Basically 33% off as they retail for $45CDN here.

Naturally, being the whore that I am, I bought both. No double VIP points or anything but the price (and no crazy Canada shipping!) more than makes up for it.

I built the transport chopper already and had my girlfriend hide the truck so I can't build it until Christmas...assuming I don't order myself the Grand Emporium before then.

If you want the Star Wars advent calendar less than the TRU tax, BN near me had them for $52. Random price, but cheaper than TRU. I must be strong and resist. Must save up for Diagon Alley and SSD!

There aren't really any decent options up here other than Toys R Us, unfortunately - though there is no TRU tax as Lego.ca charges the same Canada markup.

I believe the two sets I bought today for $30 retail for $35 in the US, but they're $10 more up here just because.

Walmart's selection is pretty hit or miss. I'd also go to a Lego store but the closest one is three hours away in Calgary and I don't know if I'll get there before the end of the month and the VIP deal.

Last year, the Star Wars Advent Calendar was on clearance everywhere after Christmas, even TRU had it for half price! Lego also set the MSRP to $10 higher this year than last, which is ridiculous, since it has fewer pieces.

Any reviews of the advent calendars? Thinking of skipping the SW one as we had it last year and we have a bunch of polybag micro models too. But wondering about the city and friends ones for my kids.

My God, it's beautiful. Urge to purchase has never been higher. Best-Wing, indeed.

I'm always amazed at how photos of the B-wing simply do not convey how MASSIVE this ship is. It doesn't look that big in photos. But when you see it in real life, you're instantly struck by how large it is. That's no moon... it's a space station...
