Here's a first look for the new Grand Prix Racer Technic set. Someone got their hands on it early.

WOW. That is REALLY nice looking.

Only 676 pieces, lackluster build experience, cockpit will fit minifig but R4 dome (no body included, its just the dome) is way oversized in comparison.

I actually quite like the Star Fighter and bought two at very decent prices. Worst case scenario it's a great parts pack at the silly sale price.

Also re-used the stand and retro fitted it to the Sith Fury Interceptor.

Really can't believe thats going to be $99. Mines of Moria was 79.99 and they look on par.

Mines of Moria = 776pcs = $79.99
Goblin King = 841pcs = $99.99

Yeah, it doesn't add up very well, especially considering that they are pretty much equal for minifigs (GK has one more than MoM).

I noticed that the expected price for Baggings End will be 79,99 euro vs 59,99 USD.
What's up with the huge price difference?

I know its licensed and comes with a bigger figure, but for the same price (actually cheaper at amazon right now) the Vampyre's Castle is bigger and looks way more entertaining then that set.

They are probably banking on the fact that these sets are coming out around the same time as the Hobbits, so they'll be able to sell sets with that hype in full force.

All the current sets are for movies that started coming out over a decade ago (!) at this point

PhoncipleBone, when I was talking about you to my husband, I referred you as Phone Bone lmao. I have a hard time pronouncing words to start with btw.

Anyway, seeing that you're sort of like an expert on this fantastic LEGO hobby, I have several questions for you.

One, how would you recommend we care for these lego for long term storage? I'm talking about those fragile plant pieces or maybe glass or any other things we may not think about. We already have plastic little drawers stacked in the closet for these sets. We also have ziploc bags for modular sets and two lego mix chests for my own MOC mix.

Second, I'm also aware that white pieces have potential to turn yellow if under the sun too long. Is this still the case with white still?

Third, what is your display time for these or how do you display these without collecting dust? We discovered that ours collect dust after a month or so and we'd want to avoid that. Its not excessive but its noticeable. Pain in the ass even with the can of air too.

Fourth, in case of severe dust, what is your recommendation to wash these?

Fifth, I worry about pieces with stickers on them. As a fan of stickers, I know they fray after a while too. Thankfully they're mostly on the sides so I won't worry about it collecting too much dust or so. But more or less worry about the pieces colliding together hence scratching the stickers when stored together long enough. I imagine it isn't an issue in your experience?

Sixth, just a personal question, how long have you been a LEGO hobbyist?

Finally, thank you so much for all the recommendations and your help with us! We had such a huge blast with our sets. <3

Nice, definitely want. I'd also want a non-technic minifig-scale racecar like the Ferrari sets.

The Goblin King price is disappointing. Still want it, so I'll wait for some good discounts on it.

I finally have all the monster fighters stuff except for frankenstein/werewoof. will probably get those cheaper down the line.

I was wondering yesterday why there's no Phantom of The Opera set. That would be badass.. what with the stage and the chandelier and the catacombs and whatnot. Someone come up with a moc or something for this. My imagination has been stunted by gaming.

Let's see... if we're only barely being constrained by sanity, I'd do something like a full re-creation of a stage with a balcony on one side, a dressing room enclosed and concealed on the other, and the catacombs on the back with the dressing room mirror as a door.

something affordable and pseudorealistic? tinier stage, catacombs are only one room, keep the dressing room barely big enoug for the mirror and the wardrobe, maybe drop the balcony.

EDIT: GLORIOUS at the moc above me.

God I need more monster fighters sets. I'll save up for a couple months and decide between arkham, some monster fighters sets, and grand emporium.

That PoTO moc is great. I'd definitely like to see a grander scale design like fredrancour described. I need a fig head that looks like Gerard Butler with a half mask.

I'd try building my vision if I could afford to buy a couple large sets like the vampire castle to use for parts. oh well.

You could make it stick out a bit. Just thread a 1x1 round brick through the post, then attach the flower piece to the end of that. Something in the meantime. It is odd that the manufacturing process on that piece changed so much.

I have a brand new GE packed. I guess I'll start it this weekend to check that I'm not missing any piece.

It's not a questions of missing the piece, but if you have the piece that was made correctly. The flower piece people are having issues with should have a hollow stud on the top to allow you to insert the nozzle type piece.

Due to licensing issues I don't think it's going to happen. Too bad because they look awesome. I would definitely buy them all.
But maybe there could be some other shops like a small stand with fruits and vegetables or a bakery. Would be a nice fit to the current town models

Browsing CUUSOO...

Really love this modular series of mini-shops. You could make a nice mall out of these.

Oh, I'd be fine with them replacing the brands with parodies ("Starbricks") or use generic naming ("COFFEE").

starbricks is an awesome idea :D

so legogaf what should i get for double vip month? as free shipping doesn't seem to be happening in europe Ill be dipping soon.
leaning towards the death star ^^ seems like a foolproof investment.

Just noticed on a deals site, that you can get cases of Series 8 and Series 4 minifigs at buy.com on the cheap. I took a chance at them being legit.

I went with Death Star. Why? Because this set should be OOP by now, haha. And let's be honest - even of you don't build it, you'll be able to flip it for double after it goes away with no issues.

It's not right. But in some cases you will get the product for that price because it was the mistake of the seller.

Something similair happened in Holland, a shop called Mediamarkt accidentally listed a notebook on their site for 99 instead of 999. The people who bought it at the webshop actually got it for that price because it was Mediamarkts mistake.

Don't know if that is the case here, but it's worth the try.

Apparently it starts on October 17th and requires a minimum purchase of 55 euros; so I'd hold on to that credit card for a few more days.

It started on the 15th. I put the imperial shuttle in my inbox and it said i was eligible for free shipping. Waiting to see if they have it at the lego store tonight. If not I will buy it with free shipping.

Yeah I just jumped on the Series 4 offering. I figure worst case scenario I paid $6.87 for 1 Series 4 Minifig, no big deal.

I tried but they won't ship to my state. When you go to the eToys website, they don't sell by the case there, just $3.99 per figure. Hopfully it works out for you guys.
