Sad to see Hito step down. I hope to see you still posting on GAF for a very long time. : )
I was wondering this myself. Not necessarily because I'd like to be one ever, but mainly because it'd be cool to know how the selection process is done. Maybe a Mod election

Really? Don't you think those could be abused? I don't want joke posters running the forum. At least with the current mods, I've known that they may be a bit harsh, but usually the stupid shit gets stamped out as well.

I don't even understand how GAF can have a "community". There's just too many members with too many perspectives, too many preferences, who get offended at too many things. I've said before that it's smarter to have separate rules for the separate communities that we have in the sub-forums and OT should be more free for all. I don't the advertisers would be cool with that, though, lol.
