I don't know which of the OEM it was (my guess is Acer), but planting that $200 rumor was genius.
Lenovo Lynx > 510.this right fucking here.
Acer Iconia w510 for the win.

MS as a company, or the Surface as a product? The Surface as a product definitely comes across as premium to me. Some innovation thrown in with great design and build quality. Back when it was unveiled in June, you'd be hard pressed to find someone whose mind wasn't blown.
Both 64gb versions with the keyboard dock are i believe 750.But is more expensive isn't it? At that point you should add the $100 more and buy the Acer w700, the w510 is the only Atom tablet in my mind honestly
32 GB with Black Touch Cover
579,00
Microsofts edge over apple has always been the price and an open system. They've thrown out both with the surface RT.
$1000So what price are we estimating for Surface Pro? I'm still trying to decide on whether to wait for that or purchase the Vaio Duo 11 i7 on the 26th.
Apple announce another event 3 days before Windows 8 launch.
You can't build a premium product by pricing it higher.
This is something MS doesn't understand, and have never understood.
In order to create a premium line of product, you need to create desire, inspiration and panache! MS has none of that. I will stop here because nothing more need to be said.
Among the tech enthusiasts? Maybe. I even think this is one of the less desired tablets out there, compared to the pre-release hype I witnessed around shit tablets like the Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab.This. I think the Surface drummed up plenty of "desire".
That was coming for a while.Apple announce another event 3 days before Windows 8 launch.
Well the RT price made the decision easier, Acer with full Win 8 it is...for the same price.

Yes its x86.Can that be updated with programs and apps? I.e. Music makers?
If so, that may be the one for me.
The general populace though? They probably don't even know what the thing looks like and the fact that it's only getting sold in Windows stores won't do it any favors.
November 9th! 3 days after Halo 4. >< If I get this I'll be too overloaded with Christmas early.this right fucking here.
Acer Iconia w510 for the win.
Looking at the used materials, the attention paid to details such as the stand, the angled camera and the covers, the Surface is about as premium as it gets. And people know that and want that.
That's why there's a 170 page long thread about the Surface as opposed to no thread at all for the Acer Iconia W510.
Meh. Haven't actually been excited for an Apple product since the iPhone 4 and maybe the iPad 3. I am more excited about the Surface Pro.

The general populace saw it all over Facebook back in June and probably forgot about it. Microsoft will be spending a lot of money to remind them over the next week or two.
As much as it pains me to say this - apple is seen as premium, microsoft is not.

My programmer friends dont even know that RT tablets dont run desktop mode, they just assumed it did.
Most confusing launch indeed, and at these prices I dont blame them for assuming full desktop mode.
Microsoft were really serious about matching iPad pricing.

Well, Microsoft never before built its own PC, who knows what will happen once they release this
So when will the Pro model (full Win 8) be announced?

But they have released hardware in the past. They attempted to go for the premium market and it just hasn't succeeded.
lol. I hope they dont take over the x86 laptop market.Microsoft were really serious about matching iPad pricing.

Their 5-10 dollar range Microsoft rubber dome keyboards seen as premium? Doubt it, along with their mice. It all comes across as standard in my opinion.I am pretty sure that a lot of their hardware (mouses, keyboards, Xbox 360) is seen as premium, just the Zune and the Kin (ugh) don't
