Yep. If it isn't retina, and it's still priced above the Fire HD, Apple will have earned themselves another Fire HD sale. People like my wife and her friends dont give a damn about the name on the device. They care about size and price. These aren't essential devices. They're for consuming content, and Amazon/Android have all the content they need as well. I hope Apple surprises me with specs and price. In a good way.

Good points. For me, it's about gaming. I find my current touch too small, and the ipad is kinda awkward to hold for me (and pricier, haha).

I was hoping this mini would have the retina screen, so it would had been perfect for me with it's smaller size. I don't really want to just go to 4" on the new touch to get the higher res.

We shall see.

Also hoping the new itunes is a big jump on performance on windows.

No retina, no buy.

I don't care if they have to jack up an extra 50 bucks, this thing needs retina.

I can picture this thing having the same res as iPad 2 that way it keeps compatibility but at a lower price. This thing will be like iPod touch compared to iPhone...dumbed down specs I bet.

the top of the apple looks like breasts.

Apple finally anounces artifical women? \o/

Tiny iPad alone doesn't seem that enticing. The price is what's gonna make this thing explode. With iPads at 399 along with the touches, this mini has to be 299 max, and will likely be less

Given lackluster iOS updates this year, I doubt there will be anything software wise that is cool about it. More rows of icons on a smaller screen

The focus on the top part of the apple logo looks like something pushing into a textured surface. Haptic feedback. The 'little' is a reference to the size, and 'more' is because it's delivering this revolutionary technology before anyone else.

I wonder if the rainbow spread of colors in the invite is a hint that the new ipads (or some other product) will come in multiple colors, similar to the new ipod?

I want a 13" Retina Macbook, but only if it's affordable (a man can dream...)

Maybe they'll release a new Apple TV, I've been eyeing those for a while too.

Obviously it is symbolizing an iPhone interacting with an Apple TV via NFC.

Oh wow, you're going to need some ice after that stretch.

Ok, so both 9to5 and AppleInsider say the Minis will come (in addition to size and color) in 'good, better and best' variety. They think that's Wifi, 3G and 4G.

Does that sound weird to anyone else? Who would buy a 3G over 4G? What would the price difference even be? It's $130 extra for both iPad 2 to 3G and the iPad 3 to 4G

I would think it's carriers but then why is it good, better and best?

Gonna go jogging with your iPad mini?

All I'm saying is that it forces the vast majority of their customers to make a choice between the two products. But, I suppose that's been true for the last few years, at least.

It just occurs to me that their iThings lineup is getting awfully crowded. Not sure how smart of a move that is on their behalf. The simplicity of their old lineup seemed to work for them. That said, I think they will sell 3 bucketloads of the iPad Mini.

They saw various companies going for a niche they weren't involved in themselves and decided to grab a piece of the pie.

My guess is this device won't be retina, which will present an equitable choice.

Get the iPod with retina or get the larger iPad mini without it. Which do you value more?

Next year, if they decide to go retina on iPad Mini 2, then there's something to worry about.

Fair enough.

I'm the biggest electronics whore around, but I can't even bring myself to consider the iPad Mini. Unless it comes with some feature I can't live without....

Does the screen quality really factor into in when it concerns the IPod? I get it on the phone because you need to have than on you all the time The Ipod has a small 4" display and there is so much more utility with the mini

I think portability is the bigger determinant
