360? sure, their mice and keyboards? lol, hell no!
I highly doubt the Xbox 360 is seen as a "premium" device either.

Fine Print said:Windows RT vs. Windows 8
Windows RT contains many of the same features as Windows 8:
- Fluid, intuitive, and easy-to-use interface design that you can easily customize.
- Built in apps like Mail, Calendar, Messaging, Photos, and SkyDrive with many more apps available in the Windows Store.
- Internet Explorer 10, for fast, intuitive browsing.
- Touch-enabled so you can interact with Windows in a whole new way.
- Mouse and keyboardenabled so you can be as productive as you need to be.
Windows RT also includes some different features:
- Windows Update and Windows Defender are always on and up to date making your PC more secure.
- Device encryption provides advanced data protection to help keep your information secure.
- The PC can turn on instantly with connected standby.
- Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview is preinstalled2.
Some features aren't included in Windows RT:
- Windows Media Player
- Windows Media Center
- HomeGroup creation (you can join an existing HomeGroup but you can't create a new one)
- Remote Desktop
- Domain join
Although you can install apps directly from the Windows Store, you can't install apps on the desktop on Windows RT. Office Home and Student 2013 RT Preview Edition comes preinstalled2, which provides you with touch-optimized desktop versions of the new Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
You can only install printers, mice, keyboards, and other devices that are certified for Windows RT.
[1] HD Video Out also requires the HD Digital AV Adapter or VGA Adapter (each sold separately).
[2] Microsoft Home and Student 2013 RT Preview edition installed. Final Office Home & Student version will be installed via Windows Update when available (free download; ISP fees apply). Some features and programs unsupported. Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview and the final version are not for use in commercial, nonprofit, or revenue generating activities. Commercial license options available (sold separately). See http://office.com/officeRT.
[3] Surface with Windows RT works exclusively with apps from the Windows Store.
I am their exact target audience but at this price point (base + addons to get real experience) I think I'll sit this one out on the sidelines.
26th.when will they be in the Microsoft store to try out?
£479 is insane. I was going to receive one as a gift, but I feel bad about someone paying for this when it's so overpriced.
I swear I've read that rt has remote desktop capability
yeah i think its just client and not host. There is also a new version of remote desktop in the store built for the new ui.

Early 2013.Does anyone know if these will be available at somewhere like bestbuy where you can test them out?
Just checking out a couple of tech sites and guess what's the headline. Apple Event next week.
Not too sure what you're going for here. I mean you can easily find Microsoft keyboards in the 10-20 dollar range. 5 was a bit of an exaggeration.Which they sell at $75 dollars! How is that not seen as premium?

Pretty pissed off about this to be honest. I kind of want Surface to fail now, even if I do get one. It deserves to fail for the price they're lauching it at.
Even though I can't afford it, there's no way I would wish death on the first tablet to get things right. This is a shake up we need in the market.Pretty pissed off about this to be honest. I kind of want Surface to fail now, even if I do get one. It deserves to fail for the price they're lauching it at.

Lynx is $600 for 32gb, no? W510 is 64gb for $600. Though Lynx does have a slightly bigger screen, but the same resolution.Lenovo Lynx > 510.
Microsoft is crazy, this is priced at least $100 too high. And when the iPad mini is announced on October 23rd (just 3 days before Surface launch) the price gap will likely be even wider.
Not sure what Microsoft was thinking here.

New iPad
16gb 499.99
32gb 599.99
64gb 699.99
Surface
32gb 499.99 (No Touch Cover)
32gb 599.99
64gb 699.99
i don't understand all people pissed about price, you think microsoft telegraphing that this is going to be a premium product by highlighting the craftsmanship and design of the product would put people in the mind set that this thing isn't going to be cheap.
The iPad mini will most probably canalize the Kindle fire and the Nexus 7 sales, rather than the surface.
This.

If it hits $299 somehow, then yes, that should kill off the kindle and nexus 7 basically overnight.

no it doesn't support flash completely but there is a whitelist that will allow specific sites to use it (they decide, not you). But it's not internet wide.hold up... I know flash is "dead" ("undead")
but does the RT support it ?

It would be fine if the 499 price included the touch cover but it doesn't. Considering how MS is marketting the Surface with cover as the complete package (the click in slogan hinges on the fact the customer buys both products), it only makes sense to consider the 599 price as the base price.
Supports most of the major sites.hold up... I know flash is "dead" ("undead")

yeah...no
assuming you mean the ipad-mini

Bring your gifs. How many of you would pay $770 for the 32gb with keyboard?
"they decide" not you
what the hell ?
RT sounds more shit and shit each passing day and now 499$.....
