Let the joy begin!
We got the Christmas catalogue through this week. My wife said that if I wanted 'Darth Vader's triangular spaceship', we'd have to move house first to make space.

I have no where to put it either, but I have to build it. I have to see the glory firsthand.
Get ready for fun times. So much amazing. <3
I've built both sets and I would lean toward the Falcon. Overall, it's a more complete set with some unique building techniques. And when it's done, it makes an excellent display piece. Jabba's Palace is not as much fun of a build. It's the great variety of awesome mini-figs, especially Jabba, that makes the Palace worth getting. Also, I believe that the price-per-brick ratio is much better for the Falcon. Jabba's Palace is mind-bogglingly expensive.Which is the better LEGO Star Wars set to request from my wife for Christmas?
Millennium Falcon #7695
Or
Jabba's Palace #9516 (with the intention of adding the Rancor Pit next year)
Falcon is older so it might be disappearing soon. Jabba is new, so you have a couple years.

Yeah, I was leaning towards the Falcon too. But the palace does have amazing minifigs. As far as the palace's price, DAT injection mold process.

That's how I was with the ucs millennium falcon. I had to build it, took some pics, got a bunch of compliments, then tore it down and sold it to another Lego fan that was dying to experience it as well. I never did have the room.
But I'm really tempted to go for the SSD with double VIP points this month, at least the sopwith camel. I need to get my ass to the Lego store.
If you can't afford the SSD, at least get the Sopwith. It's a really cool build and is a beautiful display piece. The green on it really pops in a room.
Salacious Crumb is TINY and he seems very fragile. He's just a single piece set in a sitting position, but you'd pretty much only ever have him sitting in front of Jabba on his dais anyway. His diminutive size does not diminish his awesomeness however! As I mentioned earlier, this set has been one of the best, in my opinion, as far as mini-figs are concerned. It would have been worth it for the glorious Jabba figure alone (notice that I didn't call him a 'mini'-fig), but then they throw in Han Solo in carbonite (along with a Solo mini-fig that clips behind the carbonite block), Boushh, Salacious Crumb, Bib Fortuna, Oola and a Gamorrean Guard which my daughter promptly grabbed and started doing the heavy metal version of the Imperial March (like they do in the LEGO Star Wars video games). Simply amazing.Costs extra to fill out every fold of Jabba's putrescent mass.
I vote Falcon first as well.
Though I personally almost want the Palace more, just to get Salacious Crumb!
Confirmed sets to leave us are:-
Maersk Train
Diagon Alley
Mechanical Excavator
Medieval Market Village
...and to stay:-
Fire Brigade Modular
Death Star
Grand Emporium is still out of stock at LEGO S@H and is giving speculators fits that it may have suddenly gone OOP. Some have made calls to S@H customer service and inquiries at stores with feedback ranging from "it will be back in a few months" to "it isn't coming back".
The reasoning behind Fire Brigade being kept on while Grand Emporium heads OOP is that the FB experienced the missing bag snafu, which caused a large amount of them to be recalled and a new production shipment was created.
Also, The Black Pearl and Queen Anne's Revenge are now Out of Stock on S@H - looks those may be OOP as well.

Wait, what's this about? I just got it from WalMart but probably won't have time to open it until Christmas break. Should I be worried I'll have a missing bag?
Any cool sets that let you build a cabin or anything like that?

Ugh. How long do I have for Diagon alley? I must have it.
This immediately became what I beg for for Christmas. This one has been around for a while, no? And isn't Harry Potter discontinued entirely?

Grand Emporium going oop before Fire Brigade is an amazing twist ending.yeah. that's what originally made the world concerned for it. I sent a customer service email through lego.com asking if it was long for this world.
