I'll only concede that it isn't just everyone being an Avenger when Dr. Strange, Sue Storm, and one of those kids from power pack become Avengers.

Dr. Strange has been an avenger for some time now. And I really miss a good, weird, trippy, balls out Dr. Strange series.

Okay fine, moving the goalposts, when Sue Storm and GHOST RIDER are Avengers, then I-

You know what? The Red Hulk was an Avenger. Screw it, they have no real qualms about who they let on that team. Tomorrow it'll be Magneto and Dr. Doom.

I mean, they've fought fewer super heroes than the super heroes have recently.

I like the general notion of everyone being an avenger if it means a different roster or focus each issue or arc; but yeah, what will really test this notion is Hickman's run now, because so far we had two avengers books that consisted of the Bendis Talk Show.

Hickmans probably gonna destroy. Bastards are making me try some Avengers books just because of what he did on FF and Fantastic Four.
I like Bendis too but New Avengers started while I quit it all and never felt like buying it when I came back. :/

Sorry for having a good sense of taste in media. I wish I could just like really awful things like you.

You can't claim to have "good taste in media" and then try and shit on David Aja's art in Hawkeye .

Seriously. Brah's dislike of Aja is no more or less mystifying than the hate many of you here pour on Quitely.

For the record, both Aja and Quitely are awesome.

Sir, you have good taste in media.

If comic-gaf posted their top 5 favorite artist, everyone's opinion on each other would change.

Probably for the worse.

I know a bunch of people love captain tumor, so not much could change. If current land and lolfeld made lists, then I would have to look at people funny. Maybe alex ross too. His realism does nothing for me.

Starting to warm up to Quitely a lil bit on New X-Men, but I think that's only compared to his fill ins, EVS, who is clearly trying hard to ape Quitely's mojo, and Igor Whats-his-face, who I don't care for at all.

Can't really get down on someone for thinking an artist I like sucks since I hate Bachalo and Ramos and all you chuckleheads love those guys. Mostly when I don't like an artist it's mostly a stylistic thing and I can at least recognize they have talent. Not Ramos though, that guy needs to take a figure drawing class ASAP.

I'm with you here. Fuck that dudes ASM art.

Bachalo I love, but who likes ramos? His giraffe neck routine gets old.

Pretty sure somebody was blowing Ramos recently. I could just be making that up. I've heard people say they like him at any rate.

I personally lump the two together because they both did a lot of X-Men stuff at the same time and they both "ruined" books for me. Messiah Complex had a bunch of art I hated from both of those guys.

If it helps I think Bachalo is real talented, I just hate having to put in so much work just to try and figure out what is happening on a page. He's like the anti-Aja.

Literally worse than Elektra.

I'll take the bait.

Fuck you.

Ramos = giraffe necks, pointy chinz and some of the most fucked up anatomy I've ever seen.

I loooooooove this shot of Carlie from Spider Island:

Look at her ARMS! I didn't know people were getting Mr. Fantastic powers during SI too!

This MJ makes me laugh too:

Looks like someone ripped the head off a Barbie doll and glued it on sideways.

ARGH!

Had to pass on a free pass to Detroit Fanfare next weekend. :(

I need to do 50 more illustrations by 11/1 and I've been aware of this and procrastinating all fucking month. Well, I've tried doing some background that I can recycle, etc. but that didn't work out because I don't want to waste time pasting shit up. >:|

I'm going to try and blast through pencils tomorrow and monday and then spend the remaining days of the month inking, and if I get some good progress hit Detroit for one day.

Hit the backup shop after work today and got my Cavewoman. Woowoo! :3

Aja does nothing for me I'm afraid. I don't dislike his art. He's more tolerable than Gabe Hardman, but he's never worked on anything I've read. :/

But they are fun panels. They are not made for boring anatomy classes, they are made for fun super-hero classes.

See, another guy I know that LOVES Ramos tries to pull this same line on me. Panels can be "fun" without one ENTIRE leg being shorter than only the thigh of the other. That kinda nonsense is just badbadbad art.

TTOB is going to call the artists i like Gardenburger and i'm going to pretend i know what that means outside of it actually being a food reference.

Gardenburger is a a gross facsimile of an actual hamburger, so I assume a Gardenburger artist is one who tries to be like a good artist but fails. Or more than likely, knowing TTOB he just means anybody that draws a Marvel or DC book.

All this Ramos talk making me wonder, do we know where he is going during Marvel Now now that Stegman has come to save Spider Man from him? I think he should be relegated to a Deadpool book, or something even more low rent.

i like aja, quietly, bacchalo and ramos... making hyperbolic negative statements about comic book artists is for the mouth breathiest of mouth breathers

I liked Ramos on XNation and some of the early DV8. He started getting a bit out of hand, though. Crimson to me is almost unreadable - not only is the writing fucking terrible, but his arm is atrocious.

That said, I love Bachalo, but he also has kind of been lackluster the last few years. I think that's because he shouldn't be DOING superhero comics. He should be doing sci-fi/fantasy/horror stuff.

Where are her arms? Are those grey things her arms?

Bring it on!

I'll go first, US artists only - in no particular order:

  • Arthur Adams
  • Alan Davis
  • Ivan Reis
  • Doug Mahnke
  • Patrick Gleason

Also limited to superhero comics.

Adams and Davis are GOAT status for me. Their body of work has earned them a free pass to my wallet in most cases.

Reis is some new hotness, not really anymore, but the rare new contemporary comic artist who really gets me excited to see what he does next.

Mahnke is just a solid all around dude who gets the job done, almost like John Romita Junior, but without the rushed art.

Gleason, the former protege of Mahnke went on to become an interesting hybrid of various influences and contributed to one of the best multi issue runs on Green Lantern Corps. Something else which is pretty rare these days when most artists tap out at 6-12 issues if you're lucky.

There are a ton of other artists I love working today, but I limited it to five, quick and dirty.

Ramos is staying.

He's rotating in superior spider-man along with Giuseppe Camuncoli.

Working in the US industry you aspie motherf*cker!

I don't want to muddy things with Japanese comic artists.

Now why don't you go back to keeping track of what playing cards Gambshit has left in his deck that he hasn't thrown through the current issue. >:(

oh, did i strike a nerve?
