The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

Motion Sports will forever be the king of QLs to me. I have never ever laughed as hard at any other QLs as i did when the horse met the rider.

Wait, in that video Ryan started playing after Jeff and the game immediately knew who he was and he was able to instantly sign in. Is this the first and only time they've filmed the Kinect do this? It seems every other Kinect QL is constantly having to tell it who's doing what.

I've actually been playing all day lol... I love it. It's a bit repetitive of course but it's relaxing. I always loved that kind of game.

Right on! I also really enjoyed Rig N Roll in that same genre recently, it's waaaaay sillier though.

Can't wait to check out this DBZ quick look. Harry Potter one didn't do so much for me, save for the weird knee bending.

The thing that gets me about the DBZ for Kinect game...they use the same "I am an elite warrior" dialogue for three people

in a row

Word-for-word

The entire game seems to be designed to be interchangeable so that anyone can fight anyone. Goku and Krillin do the exact same animations.

Darkest of Days is the perfect storm of shitty game and hilarious commentary. Jeff's scream when the wounded (?) soldier flips over is unbeatable.

I don't think there will be a quick look as endlessly classic as the new super mario bros Wii quick look.

Encapsulates them perfectly. Just 4 dudes hanging out and having fun together while occasionally being complete dicks to each other.

The new DBZ game should honestly just be Asura's wrath style insane anime cutscnenes with tons of qtes.

Would be much better than this or those fighting games.

That was last year's game. Incidentally, DBZ for Kinect is just last year's game with Kinect gameplay.

Someone in another thread pointed out that this game is the last DBZ game but with first-person Kinect controls. Like, the exact same models and cutscenes.

It is exactly the same. The same animations, models, cutscenes, and gameplay design. The fight against giant Oozaru Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi is identical to how it plays out in Kinect with button QTEs replaced with Kinect ones:

Even the voice acting is the same. Which is amazing because Ultimate Tenkaichi used recycled voice acting from the previous games in the series. There's a problem with this though, as the voice cast in some of the games represent the cast as they were in Dragon Ball Kai, where as others represent the cast in Dragon Ball Z. There's times where a single character's dialog will be voiced by two very distinctly different actors between lines in Ultimate Tenkaichi and Kinect.

The only differences are the aforementioned switch between button presses to gesture movements and the removal of the new Toei animated story cutscenes as well as Ultimate Tenkaichi's incredibly limited Create A Character mode. In exchange you get last year's Episode of Bardock animated special.

The hope is that Namco Bandai and Spike took this year off to make next year's game an actual quality experience. In reality we're probably just going to get another HD Collection next year, alongside a home port of Zenkai Battle Royale.

Yeah, I saw that too. Hardly surprising, given how many of these fucking things there are and how shit they probably sell

They were big sellers, and despite Ultimate Tenkaichi being critically panned Scamco still managed to ship 600k+ of it.

Which is what TNT should be to me, not the community stuff.

Anyway, outside of the ones mentioned (though I am not the biggest fan of the Rouge Warrior one since it is a one-joke affair):

Darkest of Days
Dragon Ball: Evolution
Story Time Adventure
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
Jurassic The Hunted
Pac Man Party
Pickachu's Adventure

Are my favorite quicklooks. And, as mentioned, the Wipeout and Harry Potter quicklooks.

Half Blood Prince is far and away my favorite Quick Look. Comparing the name "Draco Malfoy" to "Dick Dastardly" blew my mind.

Watching the Rogue Warrior quick look. Every time the cursing humour starts to flag, the guy actually in the game says something ridiculous and it becomes hilarious again.

Although the despair in Jeff's voice begins to make its way past the swearing after about the 10 minute mark.

I accidentally clicked Reviews instead of Quick Looks in the Videos tab, and realized the last video review they did was for Zelda in November.

Honestly, QL are 1000x better.

I love all the swearing!! "ITS A TOTAL GOAT FUCK!" hahahaa

Did Ryan really spend 11 damn minutes on the menus for Cook, Serve Delicous!?

Fuck Ryan Davis™
Chuibigans should really have designed his game differently. He knew that Ryan likes to look at menus, so he made a game with lots of menus just to get Ryan to QL it.
Hook, line, and sinker.
