Videogame facts that blow your mind (SuperMarioBros. SHOCKING SECRET INSIDE p #70)

And based on that, one could be surprised to learn that most songs in that game are just heavy variations on the same general melody. But I think that might've been explained in this thread already in better detail.

That's pretty much a staple of the Mario series. Every single song in Mario World is based around the same melody. (Just goes to show how good Koji Kondo* is at arranging his music)

*I have no idea if Kondo composed Mario World or not.

I have played through this game a dozen times and I never realized it was outdoors.

Man fuck, I can't unsee the sky now. It felt like such a cosy room. Now it's infinitely less cosy.
(Man, case 1-2 was good. Fun side characters. Wasn't Lotta Hart introduced in that one as well? OMG AND WENDY OLDBAG AS WELL!)

Wasn't Lotta first introduced in 1-4? And, yeah, never saw that as the sky... until now. And it seems so obvious now.

holy crap at the PW sky!!

I always thought of it as a closed space too... now it makes sense that they had
step
ladders there.

Just looking at that gif I had to force myself to see a ceiling. But there's been a ton of stuff in this thread that blew my mind but was obvious to others. Such is the power of the Videogame Facts That Blow Your Mind Thread!

And a forklift. And what's clearly a roof overhang on the building in the back. And the fact that it just looks like outside :P

I haven't played it so maybe the rest of the game takes place indoors so y'all naturally thought it was inside. Suggestive Optical Illusion type of deal?

Cosy? Mind blown. It's a concrete yard. There's a drain, uncomfortable looking outdoors chairs and a forklift in the corner.

in the palace of one of Gaddafi's sons, Mutassim, there's a painting of PoP: Warrior Within

Amazing.

...people thought that was indoors? smh

Anyway, a deck of cards has four suits, representing the four seasons in a year. The cards are also numbered 1-13, which when added up, comes up to 364. The two jokers were added to account for the leap year.

I learned this in Ace Attorney 4.

Apparently, FFXIII and Digital Devil Saga have similarities:

A group of people lived their everyday lives until one beautiful day on one of their battlefields an egg-like structure appeared that shot the light rays through the game’s characters leaving a tattoo mark on their bodies. Soon they discovered that with the help of this mark they are able to transform (summon) into monsters that have a hunger to devourer other humans. A hidden figure, Angel (Fal’Cie), who is in control of everything that is happening in their world left them a message that in order for them to reach Nirvana (focus) they have to bring down the enemy tribes (Cacoon). Then their curse of being such monsters (L’cie) would go away and they could have a peaceful life. Sounds familiar? Oh yeah, there is also a chick named Sera (Serah) who is the first to get that mark and cause this to happen to your cast by getting familiar with them. Ha! By the way, she as a character is a very innocent young girl who eventually shares a passionate kiss with this game's buffoon, Heat (Snow), who also happens to be older than her and tries to be the leader (the hero) of the group even though he is not.

Another thing is that one of the leading females in the game, Argilla, just happen to be a little bit too much like Lightning. She is an elite soldier, who happened to have pink hair, and her mark is also placed on her breast. On the exact same place as Light's.

Came from another forum though, but it links to a probable scan so I won't post it.

It's way less obvious in when you're playing the game than in the .gif, which really makes it apparent. You don't pan that much so you're always looking a smaller portion of the screen, and all the surrounding outdoor areas (which you're constantly visiting) have much more noticeable blue skies and trees in the background.

You are wrong. There is no Indiana Jones movie with a "crystal skull". I'm so glad the Last Crusade tied up the trilogy nicely.

the joke is the fridge sequence invalidated the whole movie

But it was Crystal Skull that tied up the trilogy? It goes Raiders - Last Crusade - Crystal Skull, after all.

It is obvious in that gif. While playing the game, though... it seems different. I don't know. Did you guys play it?

I played it. Never once thought that area was indoors. If anything, I thought it was weird that there were so few areas that actually WERE indoors in that chapter. There was the dressing room, the trailers, and...that's it?

Why are there two jokers for ONE leap year day?

WHAT

i need to lie down...

Everything I thought I knew, destroyed.

Am I the only one who knew it was the sky all this time?

What, you tell me that you thought that it was indoors?
Check your eyes, srsly.

The game refers to it as the "Employee Area" and it's directly connected to the dressing rooms of the studio.

Who puts an Employee Lounge outside? I've only seen that for designated smoking areas.

Its obvious it is outside unless you are stupid who the fuck has a forklift inside or paints their roof sky blue.

The forklift doesn't prove anything. You've never seen a forklift in a warehouse?

I didn't remember it being so obvious that the Employee Area was outdoors, so I just tried it out again on my DS. It should be noted that if you are holding the DS at its natural angle, the top screen generally won't be facing you directly, so the blue part of the sky tends to get washed out by the white. Those of you on laptops, try angling your screen forward slightly and you'll even see the same happen in that GIF. This makes it much easier to think it's the ceiling.

And given the new page, I guess I should post the image again:

Ahh, yep, there it is.

In Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, if you bring a Togepi into the Cerulean Gym it will make a different cry than normal. A reference to Misty's Togepi in the anime. More Of an Easter Egg, but crazy at the level of detail GameFreak goes to.

Here's a mind blowing fact: Scaled up crisp images of a game viewed on a PC look clearer from a native resolution image viewed on a handheld.

A film studio?
And a drain in the floor and what clearly is another building to the right and yet another one in the back (it even has a roof overhang), bla bla.

To make this post less useless: The machines will only have won if they can beat us at this sort of thing.

Wut.

Are you guys seriously thinking it was a roof? I am getting mind-blowned by you guys getting mind-blowned about it being a sky. I thought it was really obvious?

Also, that easter egg on Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver is one I will totally have to try out sometime. I assume this is if it is in the lead slot in your team and so following you around, as opposed to choosing it from the menu?
