Romney's argument was to let private lenders provide the capital to get the auto industry through the bankruptcy.

The problem is, the banks were in no position to do such a thing, and did not have any incentive to do it. No economist believes that anything but a government-managed bankruptcy or nationalization of the auto companies would have saved them.

Mitt Romney was essentially arguing to let detroit fall.

What are the breakdown of GAF politics? GAF leans extremely liberal, is that fair to say? Or is that way off base?

Youth (here meaning less than 35 years old) leans extremely liberal, by American standards. The reality distortion field the GOP puts up doesn't hold up to the tech savvy internet, which finds it repulsive, and the GOP's platform on social issues is also repulsive. It's basically Dem by default, or libertarian for those who have given up on government entirely.

There would be more Republicans on GAF if the GOP ran on a reality-based platform. But they've had a lot of success with their talking points, so the best I can do is hope against hope that it backfires and we get 2 political parties back, as opposed to 1.
