Price point comes across as a bit cocky.

Very little question that the iPad Mini is an insanely better device than a Nexus, but it's going to be over $100 more.

Increases their market distribution, but doesn't KO the competition.

No, there's actually a question about which is a better product. Price is a consideration. So is resolution and speed. iPad Mini is just lousy at that pricepoint and spec-list.

So you have

iPad 2 - 2 gen old, $400
new iPad - just announced, $500+

and the one in between is just gone?

Why didn't they make that the new cheap iPad? Makes no sense

Uh, I was really expecting around $250 :/ not really worth the downgrade when the iPad 4 is only 150 bucks more, unless you already have an iPad and want something smaller.

Best Apple announcement in recent memory.

I'm in for the 4th gen. Looks like they might have moved the upgrade cycle to the 4th quarter, right?

I'm sure the Nexus will do very well.

lol.

When we see more than 110k dedicated tablet apps for Android, Android will be relevant in this space. They have a lot of work to do, and Apple doesn't.

I never understood the "dedicated" part of this. Most apps don't need to be dedicated to be good apps. They just need to be resolution-independent-- which Android apps are thanks to the varying screen sizes.

Lol these threads are so funny, you all jack off and are about ready to come, then Leather Dom Tim comes by and pinches your urethra shut. And yet you go back next week for another session :p

iPads are the most unnecessary devices of all time as far as I'm concerned.maybe if they had finder and acted like a computer they would be worth it, but shit, overpriced apple toy

As an ipad owner you could not be more wrong... you could try... but it would be hard to top.

LOL @ the "Apple priced themselves out of the market" delusional kids.

The iPad Mini is going to blow the "Nexus" whatever out of the water and then take a dump on whatever is left of its carcass this Christmas.

Rumours are of a $99 (extremely toned down) Nexus 7.

Not so sure.

In what way is it insanely better? It's wider?

Not sure if you're serious.

Android Tablet apps vs. iOS Tablet apps... iPads have insanely higher quality software than Android tablets do. It's the same reason why people argued for Windows PCs vs. Macs back in the day.

You can just do so much more with an iPad...nevermind the higher quality hardware and screens.

I feel bad for those that bought an iPad 3 recently. This is why I never buy electronics months after announcement. You either buy it when it's fresh or wait for the next.

I'm sure the Nexus will do very well.

lol.

When we see more than 110k dedicated tablet apps for Android, Android will be relevant in this space. They have a lot of work to do, and Apple doesn't.

Edit: and I think I'll go ahead and upgrade my iPad. I'm sure at most I might lose $50 or $60 on this one. No biggie.

The Nexus 7 is still selling really well, staggeringly well some something that's not an iThing, the fact that Apple have made an Anti-Nexus 7 proves how relevant android is, because it's stealing their customers.

The stock takes a hit EVERY CONFERENCE. And people still trot it out like it means something.

Yep. Stock takes a hit each time because speculators think Apple didn't do well enough. Then the products come out and sell like wildfire and the stock skyrockets again.

I think the App Store, build quality, camera, vastly superior GPU, 3rd party support and bigger screen is well worth the $80 premium over the N7.

Sticking with my N7, iPad 3, and MBP for my mobile needs though.

I'm going to have to put in my order for the new 27" iMac though. That thing is glorious.

It's a 170 premium actually, if you compare the 32gb models. I think N7 is dropping the 16gb, I hope, or lower costs across the board.
