Going to upgrade from an iPad 2 to a 4 but not until I get my tax refund. My 2 still works great. Wouldn't mind having a 32gb though with as much shows and movies I put on it. And gimme dat retina

hmm yeah I don't think I am going to bite on the ipad4... one of my biggest uses is photo editing/viewing and I would have to buy the stupid adapter for my camera kit to work.

iPad 3 has Wireless n as well.

Yeah, that part was confusing during the conference as iPad3 already has the full Wireless n spec. It's possible something changed - maybe a new antenna setup? But it's also possible they're just comparing to iPad 2 or something.

That's good to know. She wants a 15" MBP with an internal DVD drive, so you're saying we could probably still wait until next summer?

I think so. Certainly the MBPfat will be in the chain until then so at worst you would be looking at refurbs, but it sounds like they plan to keep it around since it fills a vital cost gap between the Air and the Retina (plus it's cheaper to make and they have tons in the channel.)

Will use that slot to release Apple TV set.

This or any other sort of new product that we may not know about would make sense. As I stated before, I just don't see them going all the way until next fall until we see iPhone or iPad get some sort of refresh/new model to keep them in the news. Unless it's the launch of the rumored Apple TV set.

Setup the Amazon trade-in for my white iPad3, I'll mull over preordering. Considering the spec upgrade and what I use my iPad for (mobile gaming, media consumption) it's a no brainer.

People got a remember that Apple is a design driven company. Design matters to them. So when people say what's the point, they're asking the wrong question about the wrong company.

If you can get a refurbed iPad 3 for $379, and sell an iPad 3 for $390. What is stopping a motivated person from buying from Apple and selling to Amazon to earn some cash?

Really... $2000 for a notebook with no dedicated GPU (running at 2560x1600 natively no less)... REALLY Apple??

I pity any poor sucker who buys this. That is ridiculous.
You pity others because they're smarter than you?

Everyone doesnt need discrete graphics, buying according to your needs is the best strategy/smart.

Yeah, but proper design mends the best of both worlds. Practicality meets great looks. That's like apple releasing a car with no door handles, expecting their userbase to open them with their iphone.

Pretty sure they said the iMac cut down a significant amount of weight as well. Aesthetics is the big thing for them but certainly wouldn't argue with a lighter mac that fits in less space. It certainly looks like "just a monitor" now compared to previous models.

Jeez, Amazon is only offering $365 for the current gen 16gb iPad. Damnit. I wasn't planning to sell it 'til I got a little Nexus tablet to keep me tided over .

Torn, torn, torn...

I think 16 GB 4th gen it is for me.

I had a 32 GB 3rd gen, but hardly went over 4-5 GB. The hype about the size of retina apps wasn't justified after all.

Or was it?

Dat extra screen space. Plus the mini is lighter .. That $79 premium is easy to justify.

Godamn it Apple, why'd you have to announce a new ipad. Gotta sell the 3rd gen before people wise up and it loses value, an a6x would help a lot seeing as some games take a framerate hit on the ipad 3 trying to keep up that insane resolution.

If you're spending $2000 on a laptop for your needs I assume you're not buying it just to check your e-mail and use Safari, so unless you're rich I don't see how it's smart to pay that much of a premium for something so underpowered.

They are practically giving it away!!

The smaller screen is kinda of the purpose of this tablet segment, the display on thisthing is less than 2" smaller than a Ipad and without Retina.

The app store is a good argument, the hardware side is not

800px vs 768px lol, you will actually see more on the Nexus than on your iPad

I don't think you'll see more on either device once the page is adjusted to the width.

The iPad mini's screen will make the page look bigger but text will be sharper on the nexus 7 screen.

I don't get it. It only got thinner and only lost the optical drive, which, who cares at this point.

iPad 3 is basically skipped over and doesn't exist going by this new announcement. I'd say go for either a 2 if you're cash strapped or go for the 4

What? That's awful advice, why would you recommend an iPad 2 over an iPad 3? Paying $20 more for a significantly worse model is not the right choice.

those have for several years been *the* benchmark for 13" power and performance. The GPU is fine for smooth OS performance. The only place it will lag is gaming or other GPU-intensive applications.

Hands on folks said text looked extremely sharp on the mini

same iPad 2 resolution at 2" smaller. of course it's extremely sharp. the only people who suggested otherwise are boo-birds.

I was about to type out a long post by LC's post is right on the money.

I'm not sure if I'd want to argue this but .. I dont see any other Ultrabook that is close to matching this. Sure I can go and get a GTX690M in something that weighs 10 pounds but thats not my usage case and may not be for others.

People are underestimating HD4000, it's quite decent.

What? No...

While the 4th gen is more future-proofed, the 3rd gen is much better than the 2.

He'd be fine with either the 3rd gen or 4th gen really though.
