What, no hey buddy i'm still in for it. I traded in a shitload of stuff to Gamestop a couple days ago so I could buy everything I wanted tuesday. I preordered the retail LoTR Vita version so I could get the free Elrond mini fig to go with my new Lego LoTR sets.

I'm just a little worried about Colin's tweet there about Ragnarok, though I actually line up more with Clements so I should probably ignore Colin.

Yup, never played a Lego game - Vita seems the perfect platform if done right. Batman just didn't interest me, LOTR should though.

Yeah, Ragnarok Odyssey does not play like Monster Hunter. It's more fast paced, like a hack and slash, with a strong emphasis on combo enders akin to Dynasty Warriors. Where MH is deliberate, RO is arcade-y, so it's hard to compare the two in that department.

Though I honestly don't think RO could hold a candle to MH in terms of boss design and amount of content, I enjoyed the Japanese demo enough to know it's a game still worth my time.

No, you just have to avoid them. They have a weird gravity around them though, which is silly.

I'm in Lancaster County, PA. My basement man cave was barely finished a year when Hurricane Irene flooded the state of PA. We lucked out and didn't get any water in the room, but none of our neighbors were as lucky. I thought the flooding from Irene was a "once every 40 years" fluke, but I'm really concerned that Sandy is going to prove me wrong. Ugh.

Thank goodness my Vita will always remain dry, though the weather could definitely delay the arrival of this week's pre-orders.

On a related (and more important) note: say a prayer for the many other people who are being directly affected by this current hurricane.

I know you hate me and all, but I kind of like Desmond too. I had really hoped the 3rd main game was going to be something like "run around the world, racing the templars to get control of various pieces" and that it would be like chapter 1, we're in ... aztec land in south america, you need to go in the animus to find out where we're going... and you'd go through a short DNA history segment and then come out and be full fledged assassin desmond in present day, go through an area to try to get a relic or piece or something before the templars. Then you move on to the next one and it's like... japan and you do the dna history and you're in feudal japan as a samurai/ninja assassin or something... rinse and repeat and tie up the story by the end.

But they're just milking the hell out of it now... I gave up on the series after AC2 became GTA:Renaissance. Thought about Brotherhood, maybe, but I'm burned out on the series now. I read the "story" in ACB and ACR and I'm kind of glad I skipped them. I own them on PC and may play them someday (screw you steam sales!), but yeah, my hype level is way down. AC3 has piqued my interest a bit, but I'm still not buying it day 1 and don't know if I ever will.

What would you say to someone who has never played a Monster Hunter game looking to get this? Maybe a little better since I don't have a mon hun game to compare it to?

It's certainly not a disasterous game by any immagination, but i just hit it at the wrong time. I keep meaning to go back to it but , obviously, if you have no MH to compare it to some of the more obvious similarities will be less painful.

That said, the game play felt fine - i've seen someone else describe it as a more Musou'y style action game - to me it felt like a sped up PSO with much more vertical attack action.

I've not had the chance to play it online and i have yet to hit "when it starts getting good" - though the wife finished it and her overall opinion was that it was all a bit short of the quality she was expecting. She'd be interested in a sequel though, so i guess it was good enough to warrant further interest.

If I buy UMvC3 or Lumines digitally, I'm pretty much there.

Lumines is so so so hot. I guess a lot has to do with loving the sound track but i spent time playing that game with a pocket amp and my hacked up LOD in the dark. I was drowning in a sea of hot tracks and my vision was full of Lumines and two hours just glided by. It was religious.

been debating getting a bigger memory card because i'm on 8GB, also signed up for PSN plus for a year, then a bunch of free trails came out a day later, haha.

decided just to upgrade my ps3 hdd to 500GB and keep all my games on there instead, since memory is still too damn high for the vita. hopefully it doesn't get too messy with all my PSN/psp/vita games on it, not sure if you can organize them yet. will be handy having everything there.

just read that ACL is gonna be 3GB, ouch. thats gonna hurt since i just decided to get it digitally.

Lord of Apocalypse is like a slightly faster Monster Hunter with character levels, but much more rough around the edges. I also found the end-game balance to be a bit lame, as it caps your level each chapter and you can't progress past that level until you beat the chapter, but the level it caps you at often means you'll do little damage (or 0 damage) with regular attacks and can only win by building and using summons, which was kinda lame.

Ragnarok Odyssey is more like PSO on crack with a lot of air-action and jumping. It's loot system, similar to LoA, is a bit rough around the edges. The game is a lot of fun and very arcadey, but sometimes perhaps too much so - later bosses will one-shot you out of nowhere, and I felt one or two of the battles came down to luck (which abilities the boss used) more than skill.

Having said these things, I found both games to be good. Neither has Monster Hunter's feel of "I gotta get this item!!", making you want to do the same thing over and over and over til your head explodes, but honestly, for a lot of Western gamers, that might be a good thing.

Also..they should allow Vita to fully access the PS3 store so people can buy PS3 content using their Vita then when they log on with PS3 it download shit automatically.

Then combine that with the PS+ auto update during the night, the PS3 could automatically download and install for you

You know if you have PS+ you don't actually have to download thw free stuff? You just have to confirm your purchase, and then you can download whenever you want. Just make sure you 'buy' everything. No need to download stuff you won't be playing. So there's no need to out Vita stuff on your PS3.

Do you know if the Vita version of Lego LotR will be exactly the same as the PS3 version?

During E3, one of the devs made a statement during an interview which made it seem like this is the case. However, with the Vita version coming out the same day as the other mobile versions, while the console versions are delayed, coupled with the fact that all previous Vita Lego games have been compromised versions, plus the fact that there is almost no info on the Vita version at all -- well, this all leaves me wary of the Vita version, unfortunately. If I could just get solid confirmation that the Vita version is exactly the same as the PS3 version, I will be buying it for the Vita day one.
