Movember 2012 (No shave November)

I would've gone for a handlebar stache, but I kinda need to get a nice beard going before trimming it down to that. But since I've been noticing gray hairs on my beard like a mofo lately and I fucking hate it. No beard for me.

At work we are doing Movember as a team (I work in retail) but I can only grow a wispy piece of shit moustache so I will probably be bailing halfway through cos I'm weak.

how the fuck does not shaving raise awareness to prostate and testicular cancer initiatives?? do you have to wear a shirt or wristband too?

Why are you growing a mustache? Oh for charity awareness, cool

Its a lot more visual and conversation sparking than many charitable activities.

This is part of the reason why I setup the page ASAP, I've posted it up onto my Facebook and Twitter feeds too - I figure now people actually know about it, I've got no choice but to hold out until the end...

I'm doing Movember for the second year: http://mobro.co/mtsmylie

The plan is to get a Hulk Hogan-esque Horseshoe 'stache going, and to keep my wife from divorcing me in horror. We'll see!

I'm in! I didn't participate on the site in 2011 since I was moving and wasn't sure what my job situation would be like (I ultimately ended up growing a mustache just the same, but not for the full month). I did formally join in 2010 though and am back in 2012. I raised $215 in 2010 and hopefully can top that this year.

Here is my Mospace: http://us.movember.com/mospace/1092998

I am just growing a huge ass beard this year. It looks like 2 of my co-workers will grow theirs, too. They will probably chicken out at some point, but my body is ready.

No, but I am doing No Fap November.

No Fap November

An undertaking of great endurance and perseverance. When a group of friends (usually, but not always male) pledge to each other to not masturbate for the whole month.

Only the toughest and most resolute will make it through this so called "hell" month, but it is a life changing experience. The confidence and discipline learned during these 30 days can be applied to many other endeavors in life.

The camaraderie and support of your friends is a must to successfully execute this stunning feat of dedication.

Although it is mainly a guy thing, girls are permitted, and in fact encouraged, to participate as well. The more support the better.

Needless to say, for those who make it, it will rain on December 1.

Good luck and Godspeed.

I succeeded last year, and I will succeed again. One of the proudest achievements of my life.

At work they desperately want all the guys to participate in Movember. I'm probably going to be a pussy and not participate. I can't grow facial hair worth shit and I'm not willing to walk around with as creepy moustache (I'm one of 2 guys that is actually single in the entire office). I told them I'd be willing to split the difference and grow a patchy beard instead, but they're adamant about the Movember rules.

Man I fucking hate Movember but at least this gives me a chance to ask: any tips on shaping a moustache like Stalin's? I need more growth first but I was just wondering how to trim it to get that kind of look... just trim the centre and let the sides grow out?

I do kinda wish the Movember rules urged participants to spend October not shaving so that, come November 1st, they can spend the morning having a big old groom and rock that day with an actual moustache.

The whole thing's about awareness right? It takes me three weeks to grow something resembling a moustache. I'd rather walk into town on Day 1, freshly chin-shorn, with an "Oh, Movember!" advert entering other people's eyes. As the rules currently stand, it'll be 20-odd days before someone thinks the above; instead I'll just get thoughts along the lines of "oh, that guy's got some weird shit around his mouth."

If I partake in Movember according to official rules, I pretty much only have a moustache for half a dozen days.

I just shaved this morning.... did I already fail?

I didn't even know! So unfair.

I might do No Shave. I've never done it before and have always been curious about growing out a beard. But a mustache? No way. I just wouldn't look right.

Screw the official rules. No one can tell the difference if you're not rocking a big ol' mountain man beard.

I rock a beard all year anyway, so not shaving/trimming for the month of November won't be much of a change at all.

Don't feel like trying, I'll just end up with a pedostache. It's okay, I'll just continue with NaNo instead.

Been doing Movember since 2005 Love every second of it. Seeing many horrible hipsterish Mo's around Melbourne though.

Here is me 4 days in...

I was busy this year so I didn't really have much time to plan the fundraising side of things. Just friends and family donating this year. No chance of breaking my AU$4700 record of 2008.

First time participating in this.

In Urdu there's a funny saying: "Mooch nahi to kooch nahi!" (No moustache, then you're nothing!)

Its the people who cant grow facial hair that complain about this. Its a great way to raise money and awareness.

Did this last year at work and we raised a decent amount of money.

Get registered on Movember.com and get your friends and family to donate to your page! Its not just about growing a stache.
