Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn - Part 4 [Available To Watch]

Someone is gonna offer to make a tv show based in the halo universe based around the kids or someone will rip it off. Because that was good.

MS has taken video game universes to a new level with how they've handled Halo.

Are kelly and fred supposed to have freaky looking eyes as a result of the augmentation? or was it just the contacts to get them to match the characters? Cause it didn't look good.

Great finish. Kept wondering if we would see another Spartan with the chat Cheif was having with Kelly. It didn't even hit me about the cadets noticing the age until Sullivan asked.

Already have a bluray copy on preorder!
 
great finale! i was really surprised at the quality of this mini series, and i want more..

cant wait until next week. hype for halo 4 is through the rooooof.

Does it? How many TV shows have 15 min episodes? They would have to be padded a lot in order to fill in the usual TV episode running time. On the other hand, the whole mini-series is the length of a shorter feature film. I think it's a good blueprint for a two hour film or even something a bit longer.

Not that Halo couldn't function as a TV show as well, but I'm not sure this mini-series proves that.

I have quite a few nitpicks throughout most of the episodes but overall it was definitely a great series.

I probably should have explained it a bit more as I agree with you (as always). A TV series not following the main Halo plot would work really well. Yeah we had the Chief in this, but I actually liked the cadets and the focus was on them. I think it could work in a Walking Dead kinda way, if that makes sense.

I'd still prefer a trilogy of big budget Halo movies over a TV series. Halo needs a lot of money thrown at it to put some epic battles on screen.
 
So the Kelly and Fred at the end weren't wearing S-II armor. It looked like they were in S-III armor. What was the reasoning behind this?

I really hope this series gives Microsoft the incentive to go big budget and make a full fledged Halo movie in CGI.
 
Colour me impressed. While it was quite macho and about bravado, it didn't feel overly so. I think the music score had a lot to with evoking the right emotions with the visuals. This series has actually made me interested to play Halo games.
 
Damn that was good, a great end to a great series. Probably some of the best marketing yet for a game. Hopefully it inspires a legitimate series or movie at some point, because if this is what they can do with $10 million, I'd love to see something at full budget.

We tried it with Steve Downes voice, but it completely breaks the ending. It makes it seem like he's their dad. I am not kidding. That's how the scene looks if you play it with Downes' voice. One of the cool things about his tonality for the Chief role is that it feels weighted down with decades of experience.

There is no such thing as a Spartan III Mjolnir. Reach's cast of losers are the only IIIs to wear powered armor because they're "special".

Makes sense. I very much enjoyed it. Now we all want the Halo movie even more.

Either big movies about stuff like Fall of Reach (which has all the elements for a great screenplay) or a BSGesque TV series about ODST/ONI stuff. The post Halo 3 setting of the Traviss books could work in such a show.

Edit: I'd take an ODST show with the Firefly actors/characters from the game!
 
Just having the monks even if it was ever so slightly made the episode even more badass. It was amazing.

This is why i wanted the monks to return in some aspect to Halo4.
 
Great finale.. but as others, I have some considerations.

Kelly and Fred's armor.. I understand the reason to make the Chief stand out in the standart Mark IV.. but still. One of the cool things from the books is that in the beginning all Spartans looked the same with the armor. I'd like to see that conveyed in there.

Also, I really don't like the way their eyes where despicted..
 
Freakin awesome. I'm so glad they spent some of their marketing budget on this, I wonder how much it costed? Anyhow it was a very cool series and I hope we see more of something like this.

How so? I think regular IIIs are WAY cooler (as underdogs tend to be), and so is their crappy armor. Putting them in Mjolnir was boring as hell.

Yeah! It's the raddest. The photoreactive camouflage could result in some really interesting visuals, but instead we just got a bunch of tiny Chiefs with really big butts.

Yeah, but I have to say that itch was scratched by watching the episodes. Awesome job everyone involved in it.

Time to leave gaf until halo 4 comes out. This place is a danger zone lol.
 
Episode 3 & 4 were great, the tension and anticipation are often more fun than the resolution. Same for this web series. Episode 5 felt a bit rushed and I didn't like all the cliche stuff happening.
 
Not much exposition in these last two episodes, but the moment on the pelican when they realize the age of the Spartans was pretty awesome. Loved the music, loved most of the action, and I can't wait for next Tuesday.
 
Really neat series

I'm not fully into the lore of the halo universe so it was fun seeing the spartans and cadets and such.

How old is Chief in this series? Relatively young? I assume the Spartan program is still in its infancy during this if they were still top secret?
