Bought a vita.... ended up trading it in for a Wii U preorder. I wanted to love it, but I found myself more often than not playing PSP games... games which I could already play on my PSP.
Anger
I don't want Angry Birds mobile type bullshit, or quirky low budget gimicky games that use the backtouch and gyroscope or stuff like that on my Vita. I want big, complex, console quality games on it. Because big, complex, console quality games are more fun. A lot more fun. All developers need to do to make console-like games work on the Vita is let you save anywhere at any time. The Vita is a powerful system. Take full advantage of that power.
Sorry, I should have been more clear in my post above. My sentiments were more in line with the poster you replied to.
PS4 will undoubtedly require more resources, making the apparent divide (if there is one) between PS4 and Vita more and more apparent. If anything, I see Vita support dwindling based on devs focus shifting to learn next-gen architecture, and adapting their flagpole franchises for it. I think Vita will be relegated to indie devs or mild 3rd party support until otherwise, cared for. I just don't see Vita's userbase growing unless there is compelling content, and with the PS4 around the corner, I don't see that anytime soon.
Go check out Unit 13
No fucking console game offers what Unit 13 offers
It was built for the damn System, once that shit gels with you, it becomes fucking second nature, going back to a regular TPS makes you go damn, they could've used that from Unit 13 to enhance the experience
The system is still new, it is still trying to find a footing into what this device is
The market isn't what Sony hoped for it to be, now it's adjusting, right before our eyes
RPG's on Vita require a lot of investment from devs/pubs at the moment
They are still finding profits in the PSP, so it's fractured
Sales are slow, no non-Vita or Vita owner can say there not
Then you have 2 option, get it, enjoy what it offers or STFU and move the fuck on with something else to kill your time and money with
Most detractors go well, it doesnt have games...
IT HAS GAMES!
Yeah but thy are all ports, nothing new, to really experience the system...
BULLSHIT!, play Gravity Rush, Unit 13, the plethora of PSN titles released for it
But it cost too much...
So did the PS3 @$599, yet people still bought it at that price
Memory Cards are to price and proprietary...
Join the club, we both are in agreement, but I'm invested into this system, so I will have to pay, it stings, but you deal with it
You haven't even owned the Vita yet and are complaining!
Game cost too much...
You can be a Day 1 Hero or be smart and wait it out
During the summer you could grab MK Konplete Edition for Vita for $10, same goes for Mod Nation Racers (sales)
In the mean time, there are these quirky Vita'esque" games that don't cost and arm and a leg to buy
$15 for Super Stardust Delta is the best money you will ever spend for your Vita
That game was built for it
You can get roughly 100+ hours of enjoyment out of it, I fucking sure did
I want to get but I don't want to get...
GET THE FUCK OUT!
this thread is about sales of vita and how it affects sony to put an effort on making games for the system. without the sales they're not going to give much effort into it. so don't say its not about sales. right now i think the guys at sony are thinking about sales
talk about deja vu.
I didn't know this was a NPD thread
Go read the damn fucking OP
Guy flip flopping like a Mormon trying to become a President
I want it but I don't want it, if I don't want Sony should kill it
OP doesn't even have the word sales appear once is his statement
All you trolls need better fucking material
Either get a Vita and enjoy the system or go back to the abyss and contemplate the next console for your Domm & Gloom mantra

If you can't see a correlation between Sony giving up on the Vita and dismal sales, then god help you.
I didn't know this was a NPD thread
But I haven't seen anything to suggest Sony is giving up.
But I haven't seen anything to suggest Sony is giving up. Pretty sure they have more accurate sales records then anyone else too.

The true road to disaster.I want a 7 and 10" Vita tablet.
I want everything from both worlds. Crazy original gimmicky game, backtouch and gyroscope controls with console graphics.

Now regarding the PSN suggestion, are these unique and original titles that are actually Vita exclusive and built from the ground up for it? Or are we talking merely about the awesome stuff like Journey and PixelJunk games being compacted on Vita, even though you can just get it on the PS3? If it's the former, then yes that would be fantastic. (Although Sony's advertisement would have been doing an even more abysmal job than I thought in that case.)
What about this?
Strange how they won't release them, even to their shareholders.
Same daoster, about heaven 2..no fucking clue. Probably struggling to get enough to show//want to save them for later (hopefully to make a better impact)...:S
It's incomplete isn't it? I mean it doesn't even list Killzone Mercenaries and others like GE2, maybe no release date on those yet. Still, looks like a good list to me!
Not strange, like you said it's selling low...their active effort to conceal it would suggest they have a plan for it.
Normally publishers like to tell retailers when games are coming out. The fact that it's incomplete speaks volumes.
There will be a Vita tablet at some point designed to interface with the PS4 the same way the WiiU gamepad does. When Sony streamlines their products together, thats when Vita will shine.
I want a 7 and 10" Vita tablet.
Go check out Frobisher Says, some of the Little Deviants stuff, and a whole bunch of stuff out and on the way on PS Mobile, as well as things like Sound Shapes, Retro City Rampage etc.
Go check out WipEout 2048, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Assassins Creed: Liberation.
It's amazing how many people go 'it needs this', 'it needs that', 'there's not enough of this', 'there's no games' etc - clearly people haven't even properly looked into the Vita before just dismissing it.
Full disclosure: happy Vita owner since March with tons to play.
Super Stardust Delta, completely redefines the game that was made for the PS3
When I play the PS3 version I get pissed due to it not being the Vita version
Refinement was fucking amazing
Plants vs Zombies (Yes that title which has been whored out more than Left-Peg Lucy)
The touch screen enhances and make the game more enjoyable
It's replayability is through the roof
I'm insane trophy collector, most of GAF knows this, I went on an 88 hours quest to get 1 trophy to get my Platinum (which the dev trolled me so bad by releasing an update that gives you the trophy in 2 tries, Fuck My Life)
I just recently bought Mutant Blob Attacks, such a quirky game, built for the Vita
Bought Sun Flowers through youtube gameplay video, had a cool touch that resonated with me, 10-15 min time waster that you go back to regularly
I still have to pick up Dokuro, which looks hella interesting and 10+ more titles
I can buy them right now, but as I said I have too much on my plate, I wanna finish those up, get a bigger card (hopefully through a sale) and maybe some price drops happen, if not fuck it was going to Purchase them anyway
There will be a Vita tablet at some point designed to interface with the PS4 the same way the WiiU gamepad does.
I doubt you'll see one in that screen size, though. I suppose it's possible.
(And yeah, that's the other reason why the Vita will remain viable going forward. It's going to be an integral part of the PS4 gaming experience.)
Dude.
I probably have more games than just about any other Vita owner around here...but man, the Vita has no games.
Same daoster, about heaven 2..no fucking clue. Probably struggling to get enough to show//want to save them for later (hopefully to make a better impact)...:S
Not strange, like you said it's selling low...their active effort to conceal them would actually suggest they have a plan for it and don't want them to notice the problems atm.
Sorry, I wasn't being positive about E3 or TGS.
E3 or TGS showed me how LITTLE Sony cared. And to add insult to injury, Sony acted surprised when gamers were disappointed at how little was shown for Vita during the conference ("buy there was plenty of Vita games on the game floor!").
Gamescom was about the only conference where Sony showed the Vita any love (Tearaway will be awesome).
the biggest worrying indicator to me about the health of the Vita is how Sony treated it at TGS and E3 this past year.
The PS4 is going to be bundled with a Vita. They won't have to buy a special tablet.Much better to put an app which can be used on all tablets. No one's gonna buy a special tablet just to use it with their PS4.
These seem pretty cool. Although again, exclusivity with some is questionable, and they look kinda simple-cell phone game-esque, but it's still a step in the right direction.
Oh, I know the Vita has these console quality games. I'm a Vita owner and love Gravity Rush, Ass Creed, Hot Shots, Uncharted (except for the charcole rubbings) and even Unit 13. I posted that because it seems like every Vita thread has a ton of people complaining that they don't want console type games on a mobile device. I was just saying that there are a lot of people like me who really do like console type games on handhelds.
^ *Temporarily, I'm sure. Until the vita takes off to the moon next year/after. They know shareholders don't have as much vision/see the potential in their products like they do. I'm sure they learnt with the PS3.
Volumes about giving out dates too early these days? It doesn't make sense to announce release dates so far ahead.. (changes during development -> disappointment. And for competitive timing etc).

^ Fair enough, but if you think shareholders won't believe in your plan like you will, and you really don't want to lose out on more finance then it would apply too..![]()
I do think part of the plan was Assassin's Creed Liberation, Call of Duty and NFS Most Wanted. Looks like AC:L and MW have tanked. Given the dev and dev time on CoD I'm sure the reviews won't be too hot. I'm not sure what else they have! No, when you have a plan you admit your problems and how you're going to solve them. When you don't state how you're solving the problem, it means you're thinking "shit, I got nothing."
You conceal problems because you don't want to lose consumer confidence, because you know that if they knew about those problems their confidence would rightly plummet.

I just bought VLR for my Vita. Past that, I'm not really sure what the hell I'm going to buy for it. I'm sure there will be something at some point.
I love the hardware. I wish the software library would pick up a bit.
It was dead before it arrived. Times have changed, not even I buy handhelds anymore.
Mine has been on the shelf for a few months and I'm only gonna dust it off for Persona 4. After I'm done with that it'll go right back on the shelf for another extended break.
Been looking for a reason to buy it as well. I was on the fence when it came out but now I don't even care.
These seem pretty cool. Although again, exclusivity with some is questionable, and they look kinda simple-cell phone game-esque, but it's still a step in the right direction.
What kind of plan do you think they might have that shareholders won't believe in? Putting a lot of effort into some new games and moneyhatting some exclusives for what shareholders might consider dying platform?
You think they're hiding Vita's sales from shareholders because if they knew how bad they were, they'd let their dollars speak out against the games they're continuing to make for the platform?
God forbid you give retailers a little heads-up that you would like to sell them something in a couple month's time. 7 titles is obviously too much for these retailers to handle.
Say a customer walks into Gamestop and asks when so-and-so game comes out for Vita. "Oh, sorry sir, we only have these 7 games on our list as coming out between now and March.
Hear that GAF? 4 days worth of UK-only non-digital retail sales figures = these flagship games have tanked.I do think part of the plan was Assassin's Creed Liberation, Call of Duty and NFS Most Wanted. Looks like AC:L and MW have tanked.
I'm almost an exclusively-Vita gamer these days - and NFS is one of my favourite games on it. (Just to clarify I'm not joining the shitting-on-Vita brigade) But you can't say the opening sales of Liberation were promising given how AC3 sold. But yeah, maybe tanked wasn't the right wordHear that GAF? 4 days worth of UK-only non-digital retail sales figures = these flagship games have tanked.
At least reviewers can take solace in the fact that panning those titles by comparing them to console versions was justified.
.
Urgh. That's disappointing. :/
im sorry if i hurt your vita or your feelings.
