I'm just surprised that this thread has managed to make it past two pages back in the OT with only one slightly negative comment.
 
What negative?

And CMC eps are terrible unless they are not the focus of their episode (see: that Valentines and the news eps)
 
Hello. I figured I should post in this thread since I recently got to finish all of the second season and really enjoy the show. I'll try to keep up to date from now on!
 
Oh, right. The list:

1. Rarity
2. Twilight
3. Fluttershy
4. Pinkie Pie
5. Rainbow Dash
6. Applejack

Since I like them all in different ways it was hard to choose. Twilight Sparkle was the star of my favorite episode (Lesson Zero) and I normally prefer the nerdy/logical characters in the shows I watch (probably because I can relate to them being a nerd and all), but Rarity surprised me. Not only did I find her extremely likeable despite normally hating "diva"-type characters, but Rarity seems to be really good at carrying an episode. She has the most consistently awesome episodes to me.

Fluttershy/Pinkie Pie were also hard to choose between for 3 and 4, but Fluttershy seems to deal with the spotlight better ironically. I am not a huge fan of "moe" and I like 4th wall breakage so that was another surprise.

Rainbow Dash can be a bit annoying in the episodes about her, but I remember her episodes better than any of the ones starring Applejack (I don't remember any at all at the moment, except the one about her where she wasn't there most of the time lol).

Come to think of it, the above pretty much matches, in order, how good I think each of them are at carrying an episode. I really do like the entire cast though, which is rare for me to say.

I loathe Fluttershy. Everything about her character flat out sucks.

Twilight Sparkle because her personality allows her to be more varied, albeit they have used her OCD aspect a lot lately in Season 2.

Applejack because it finally took season 2 to realize her aspect of character being actually proper and her flaws working with it.

Rainbow Dash and Rarity are middling to me, though I liked RD now unlike before since she actually developed character. Same with Rarity.

Pinkie Pie's lolrandumb has lost her steam.

But you know what? You can only do so much with Fluttershy that resetting her character repeatedly is poor form.

At last, long last! I needed more ponies in my life. Want it. NEED IT

And now, for the customary ranking.

1- Twilight Sparkle - Because being able to make a nerdy type of character that does not sucks is hard to pull off right.

2- Fluttershy. Far more hylarious and less of a moe stereotype than what people gives her credit for

3- Applejack / Rarity. I love how these two can hold an episode on their own and show that there's quite more to their personalities than an archeotype.

4- Pinkie Pie. Nuff said.

999999- Rainbow Dash - Insufferable, unfunnny character. Gah. The show's Kvothe.

Oh, so there was a Season 3 topic. Well, I guess I've put this off long enough.

I haven't checked the Community thread since the Friday before S2E25/26. Yes, since April. Did I... miss anything important in those seven months? I know about Netflix having S2, I know about the supposed direct-to-DVD film thing, I think I spotted a season 1 box set on Amazon inadvertently...

I mean, I suppose I missed DrForester posting that Final Fantasy Celestia pic about a thousand more times, going off of habits from before I stopped visiting, but that's no huge loss.

Rainbow Dash woulda been 6th, but both the find-a-pet episode and the book episode were good enough for me to put her at 5th.

Actually, no, I didn't miss that. TVTropes lists most of Season 3 already, thanks to Zap2It.

Kinda curious about the missing episode, though. Are they airing episodes out of order again? Guess I'll just have to wait and see... good thing this is a show where that generally doesn't matter.

But yeah, I meant more general pony stuff, not just Season 3. I suppose I'd be better off asking in the community topic, but eh :I

"Starts"? May I remind you of Luna Eclipsed? If anything that's when it started. And it was still good.

I'm more worried if that character can hold up for another episode. She wasn't that interesting in her first... But again: Luna Eclipsed. It could work.

Also, Sleepless in Ponyville: Luna casts a spell that allows everyone to stay awake permanently to enjoy her night, but the lack of sleep takes its toll on everypony.

...In my dreams. It'll probably be about Pinkie Pie keeping everyone awake at a sleepover or something.
