Maybe they'll just have to use the skip function, or do a room they already know how. The crew quarters doesn't have a drink room though... they'll probably just do the elevator puzzle.

I was talking about the drink puzzle in the lounge.

999 all would benefit From a fresh play through

i don't know about last reward but 999's puzzles are pretty easy apart from a few exeptions. I don't think they would do worse than they do in other adventure games.

avoiding spoilers is impossible though

I thought it was interesting that Jeff said he no longer enjoys multiplayer games without progression. I wonder if that's because he's not big into competitive mp stuff, or if that's just what the average person wants now. All that extra stuff is nice if it's there, but if there's better gameplay to be found somewhere else I'd jump ship in a second, regardless of whether or not it has any sort of persistance. I think people are starting to lose the forest for the trees a little bit when it comes to competitive multiplayer.

I agree somewhat. I feel a lot of multiplayer modes have become too complex for their own good. It's all about the compulsion loops now. If you're not filling up a progress bar, checking a box or unlocking a trinket, you're not playing a multiplayer game, it seems.

I definitely prefer co-op over competitive play these days... That wasn't the case with games like Dark Forces II, Return to Castle Wolf., or the old Rainbow Six games.

I'm not sure if it's my preferences changing, or if games just aren't as fun online anymore.

I wish I could find a competitive multiplayer game without progression. Back when this all started becoming popular, I was comfortable in the knowledge that there are so many games out there, I'd always have something to fall back on. I can't believe it's gone as far as it has, but pretty much EVERYTHING (except perhaps Valve somewhat) comes along with some poorly implemented progression scheme in it. Sad to see it come this far, and so few people talk about it. David Jaffe is about the only high profile person in the gaming community I know of to call some of this stuff out.

Although that Ravaged game seemed to have everything availible from square 1.

It sounds like maybe he talks to people/publishers? But Patrick clearly does that too.

They've said multiple times that Brad was the one in charge with publisher/pr relations. Like he's the one getting codes and stuff like that and then redistribute them to the rest of the staff.

Does anyone else have difficulties seeing how Journey could NOT take Game of the Year?

Every single thing in that game has a purpose, and every moment was memorable and incredibly well executed. It dropped jaws, broke hearts, and shivered boots. I have a hard time thinking of any real thing wrong with it.

Jeff says nope, XCom is the best. But I don't know if he can stand up to the Brad Filibuster with Ryan sitting on the sidelines again.

Hell no, sure it's the best game of the year, but I imagine Jeff will kibosh it instantly.

You gotta have something to listen to when you're painting a room

I enjoyed Journey (dat cello) but, even with chilling with other people and doing wordless communication and whatever it didn't touch me spiritually or whatever happened to all those people who apparently achieved transcendence through it.

It's on PS3.

Journey is not the game of the year. Don't know what you guys have been smoking.

Fuck it, you sell it to me. I've played it through all the way twice, you tell me what I missed in it being the greatest thing of 2011.

Did you sniff your own farts while you played it?

It depends if the 'experience' the game offers is enough for the person. I remember Ryan saying how, during a crucial moment, his character got stuck in geometry and completely killed the moment. If the experience doesn't resonate with the person for whatever reason, including glitches like that, the game doesn't have much else to offer.

Personally I came in with high expectations but left underwhelmed. The visuals, aesthetic and production value were all great but overall I thought the 'experience' felt forced and it was too short to justify the $20 I spent on it. Granted it was much funner to play than Flower.

There's barely anything to do in it so I sure hope it doesn't win game of the year. It was a nice experience but the best parts of it were the art direction and soundtrack, which alone do not make a fun game in my book.

I recognize Journey is not for me, I want something more mechanically meaty. No artsy-fartsy feelings for me and I have an allergy to pretentiousness (that is not to say Journey is pretentious, but it may apply to other games). I know what I like, I just need to be exposed to the games.

I hope they change the way the final selection is done again. Everyone taking turns nominating something for elimination thing was pretty boring. So many games never got anything more than "is anyone willing to fight for X? No? Alright."

Even if the game isn't going to win, I enjoy listening to them talk a little bit about each of the best 20 or 30 games of the year.

Jeff feels that their is a lot of misinformation about Windows 8

Also funny that he dismisses people as not knowing what they're talking about if they're against it.
Notch and Gabe Newell don't know nothing about computers.

come at me, monsterdunk
