Based purely on the QL.
Walking Dead will take best story. XCOM will take best game.
Mass Effect 3 won't take most disappointing, surprisingly, but it'll place.
Pushmo will be 2012's 2011 GOTY.
I can see Sleeping Dogs being Vinny's personal GOTY.

Question: Over the weekend I finished episode 3 of the Walking Dead. The way the guys on the bombcast talk about the walking dead I was expecting some crazy choices to be made yet nothing seemed all that earth shattering to me.
I seem to remember Patrick leaning towards episode 3 being "brutal" I must have missed that part, or I am de-sensitized and a terrible human.
When do the choices get interesting / difficult?
So is Ryan still working on that AC3 review?
I hear the game is buggier than a turn of the century movie about transportation.Either two things are at play here.
1. Multiple play throughs, max level mp character and a critique to kill all other publication's reviews. A commited and dedicated approach to his art.
2. He can't really be arsed.
You decide;p
I don't think so for two reasons. First, the walking dead is a downloadable title, and they seem to have a real aversion to giving a game of the year award to a downloadable title. Secondly, I think that at the end of the day, if they really analyze the game, they're basically going to conclude it is just a visual novel, and the "gameplay" is basic and almost nonexistent. I have really enjoyed experiencing the walking dead this year, and I think if they gave it a best story award it would make sense, but to give it a best "game" award would be a bit silly.
Then again, I haven't played XCOM, and I'm going only by reactions to their podcast.
I think the downloadable stuff surpassed retail games in quality this year. Torchlight 2, FTL, Spelunky, Mark of the Ninja, Fez, Trials, the Walking Dead, Journey, Hotline Miami (probably missing a few as well), can all hold their own against the retail releases this year.
Brad even mentioned that they were considering doing away with the 'downloadable goty' category, for this reason.
Is it true that there was a time that leaked/stolen Sara Lima wearing lingerie pictures were circulating on Giantbomb Chat and they were instaban to whomever posted them? I never seen them, so I always though they were a myth.
They exist. Never saved the link though.

I'm feeling either Fez or XCOM for Goatie. Both got a lot of play from everyone and a lot of discussion.
Mark of the Ninja, Journey, and Walking Dead are sure-fires for the other spots.
Borderlands 2, Sleeping Dogs, Tokyo Jungle and Dishonored are sure to get some mentions, but not everyone played them.
Max Payne is another one I keep forgetting came out this year, but everyone seemed to enjoy it regardless. Spec Ops may get brought up.
And then of course Brad will be the main driving force keeping Diablo 3 up there, and despite not playing a lot Ryan and Jeff seemed to enjoy it enough to allow it to be on the list.
Wild cards are Mass Effect and Asura's Wrath.
And thus concludes my extensive preGoatie analysis.
You have been desensitized. Episode 3 was heartbreaking for me. Midway through I almost quit.
I really hope they do a spoilercast when Episode 5 comes out and they all finish it.

leaving Lily on the side of the road? Having to shoot a little kid?
Lilly totally deserved to be left on the road to die after what she did. Everything that went down with the little kid was sad but for some reason had no impact on me other than thinking the right thing to do was kill the kid so his parents did not have to suffer through that. In both instances those events did not feel "brutal"
Lily didn't die. She plays a major role in the comics.
I just got a political ad before I Love Mondays. Gross.
Normally I would not recommend a kotaku piece but it has jeff quotes and if fairly good written.

Gladly.Someone track down Drew at a midnight.
I need the opening 5 seconds of ILM
for...personal use
The beard continues to intrigue her.
GOTY this year is going to be interesting because so far we haven't had a zeitgeist WOW AMAZE 10/10 BEST GAME EVER title like Skyrim that everyone and their dog wanted to play. XCOM is probably the closest thing at GB, but what else? Asscreed III is good but incredibly buggy and a bit sloppy in the story department, Most Wanted is pretty anemic, Halo 4 is great but "it's more Halo", and not everyone is excited for that... unless Black Ops 2 or Far Cry 3 are somehow insanely good there's going to be a way more interesting GOTY discussion at the end of 2012.
Also I wonder if Syndicate is gonna come up at Giant Bomb.

They should do a puzzle room ( hopefully not the lounge). And and AB game with both choices.
