far cry 3 is gonna be "pretty bad" by default because it'll never reach Far Cry 2's greatness
wonderful, original, open and truly sandbox game without shitty handholding. Just a bunch of systems at work thrown at you to do as you please. Loved FC2, loved getting mad at it
what's this thread about again?

Is this an open world sandbox game?
it's open-world and a "sandbox" insofar that players are free to approach missions however they wish.
we'll see about that
Is this an open world sandbox game?
Even if the SP does fall short of the mark, Contracts seems rather neat, and is the most sandbox-like aspect of the game.
oh shit I thought we were talking about Far Cry 3 lmao
Gamepro review scans are up on Hitman forum.
Plenty of new pics and someone translated a few parts, but for some reason i can't copy & paste shit from that site when i'm on my phone.
I'll help you. Will use spoiler tags, though.
Fact sheet:
- 20 chapters
- 54 sections
- 54 disguises --> probably an error, as it was confirmed that Absolution has about 100 different disguises (maybe a copy/past error of the line above?)
- more than 250 challenges
- 19 unique weapons
- 80 improvised weapons
- 10 to 25 hours, depending on play style between
Some text:
Story: Apparently we don't learn why we're supposed to protect Victoria right away, which makes the development a bit weird. Newcomers to the series will also be left hanging a bit, since the background (for example, the connection between 47 and Diana) is not explained very well at the start.
Difficulty: Normal's tricky already, the three higher levels range from tough to "Dear God!". It may happen that you'll restart a checkpoint a dozen times. If the game wasn't this good, it would be frustrating, but Absolution always makes it clear why we failed.
Disguises: Excellent system, well integrated into the level design, although in some cases it can seem less than realistic: While it's clear that a small team of mechanics will know each other very well, how come every single Chicago police officer can recognize an imposter, considering that he has thousands of colleagues?
Unlockable perks: More or less useful. If you go for Silent Assassin anyway, what good are faster reloading or improved health?
Hitman forum hacked?
www.hitmanforum.com
It's not working anymore for me.
Edit: WTF it works on my phone. Ok nevermind, it's probably just me.

Edit2: Cleared cookies, everything works fine now.
I kept getting linked to some random news website when I tried to access it earlier.
Seems to be working fine now, though (although I do keep getting a malware warning).
There is a malware warning from Chrome on that link FYI.

So there is no reason using it as you'll be recognized no matter what? Interesting.
As for the Hitman OPM review....Didn't that magazine just get canned?
The US version. The UK edition is carrying on. They discuss the review in this month's podcast. It's the first game they talk about...

Still sounds stupid. That's something I didn't like about Hitman 2, how every guard seemed to be psychic, and it looks like it's happening again. Like Miksar said, what's the point of wearing disguises then? It's part of the new blending stuff they have. If you walk around other police you can hide your face with your hat or apparently eat donuts at a table to hide away while they pass, but it burns through your instinct meter.
Yeah, well, many gaming sites said GTA IV was the best of the franchise, and one of the best games of all time, so I wouldn't put much trust in that comment.Just found the cover.
The best Hitman of all time!

Sorry for sounding negative, I really hope the game's a 20/10 because I preorderer it, but I won't blindly believe every good comment about it.Party Pooper![]()
I seriously doubt this will be the best Hitman, most likely the best stealth game of this gen though. I dont count BM as this gen btw.
The point is to even have the chance to get through or into an area without instantly triggering the alarm when seen. In fact, Blood Money had the most unrealistic and forgiving guards yet. It was ridiculous how you could run like crazy around a guard without him caring very much. Sure the guards in Hitman 2 felt psychic, but I wouldn't say it was inappropriate given that most of the levels were some sort of military grounds. Contracts handled the raising of suspicion in the best way yet though and seems as Absolution is going to be closer to that than anything else.Still sounds stupid. The german gamepro talks about..chapters? This sounds very linear to me.20 chapters
Alsocostumes sounds good at first but it's only54costumes/ chapter.2-3
Hmm what does chapters mean? Weren't they called missions before in Blood Money?
You only have to use instinct when you wear the same outfit as someone else. Well, it adds to the immersion and realism.
Also, a nice thing happened on the King of Chinatown level: 47 was wearing a police outfit and an NPC found a body and came to 47 for help! Disguises actually mean something in this game. I like that.
Why would 47 have a power bar that depletes whenever he covers his face with a hat or eats donuts? That's as unrealistic as it can get. The NPC thing you mentioned seems clever, though. You only have to use instinct when you wear the same outfit as someone else. Well, it adds to the immersion and realism.

I'm still not buying it. At least not right after playing Hitman 2 and seeing the omniscient AI in action. Guards being suspicious when you act like a fool (running, crouching or wanking in public) is fine and believable. Them recognising you right away whenever you walk near isn't. And having a power bar for stealth is a really bad idea, IMO.To make the game more challenging, I suppose. As someone else stated earlier: in Blood Money the AI was kinda goofy. You could sprint, crawl, run around in circles near an NPC with the same outfit and he would be like: "Hmm, seems legit." The AI is smarter now, hence they implemented this feature. I like it. If you don't, well that's fine![]()

For non-Germans: the highest score possible is 1.
Can you type it in German?
