I get fiscal conservatism, but where the hell does this non-sense about re-electing Obama = not loving god come from? Very strange to see such a large proportion of Americans being so irrational and melodramatic about these things.
It can't just be Fox news... I'm sure that's not helping but there must be something else going on. Inadequate education? Lack of critical thinking?

The republic party has successfully tied religion into their platform full bore. And when faith is involved all other bets are off.
Probably a mix of : Being too religious + easy to brainwash through media and propaganda + just being dumb.
For some reason, the USA have a lot of these people.
Religion hampers both of these important things, and republicans are for the most part religious.
My family and extended family are strangely quiet this morning. It's actually funny, most of my liberal facebook friends have not said a word or posted anything pro-Obama or anything liberal whatsoever the entire election while my conservative friends and families have been nonstop with the bullshit for months now. Since last night though complete opposite.

this is unfair. it's more like religious nut jobs successfully infiltrated the party. the writing is on the wall that this needs to change going forwards. either they ignore it and lose again in four years, or they move more towards the center. either way it's a good thing.
it's not just about the presidential election. look at gay marriage winning in multiple states when it's never won a state level vote before. times they are a changing. this is no surprise to anyone with their eyes open, because it's been obvious which way the countries feeling on social issues is heading. many republicans are aware of this, and angry at the party and fox news for ignoring it.
because, well, it just lost them an election.

I've unfriended one person and blocked posts from two. Not because they are republican but because their posts were incredibly stupid and ignorant and I don't want to have my feed filled with their nonsense. It's amusing when it's people you don't know, but depressing when it's people you thought you knew and respected and now see in a very different light.

Lets hope so. Here in MT, we're very much stuck with the older generations taking majority of the vote, but the last 2 elections the state has become slightly more liberal, usually electing Dems in everything except presidency.

I had the opposite happen, i have a friend who for the past year has posted the most insane stuff about how conservatives were going to rise up and beat down the godless liberals. the typical non-sense from the far right, but last night after Romney lost, he changed his avatar to an Obama one as per a bet he had made with a liberal poster and he posted three or four updates praying that Obama has a good second term and apologising if he had went too far the past year, that he just got very worked up by everything, his clarity was amazing.

actually, what would make sense is for everyone who wanted to leave America if Obama won again, would be if they all moved to Texas. Texas still votes every four years on whether or not to secede right? then they could have their very own far right country. seems like the only plausible plan.

Lots of Hispanics are religious. Lots of the religious folk are Republican.
I think the best way to make Texas more blue is from within. No good to depend on demographics. The religious thing has a lot to do with it.
As long as Obama doesn't go after guns too much or change immigration laws Texas sure as hell isn't getting any redder, though.
