We had a uniquely qualified candidate in Mitt Romney. He was one of the very few who could have dug us out of our economic mess. He is a moral man of character. He wasn't a Washington insider. He's so squeaky clean, his opposition could barely find anything to pin on him. They resorted to exaggerations and outright lies and tales of how he put his dog on the roof of his car and didn't hug his garbageman.
His greatest sin was that he was too classy, too dignified, too rich and too white.
I am so worried that it was our last chance. The demographics are changing. I believe Hispanics already outnumber Caucasians, women seem to be more concerned with terminating their offspring than getting our country on the right track, our students are coming out of their expensive universities brainwashed zombies and by leaps and bounds, more Americans are on some kind of government assistance. People are becoming more secular. This does not bode well for the Republican party.
I hear people on the right saying it's because we're not conservative enough. I don't believe it. The country has twice elected the most leftest President we've ever seen. I believe the Republicans need to wake up to the truth.
- The Republican Primaries put candidates in a position of having to cater to the most extreme among the Right in order to be nominated. This country can't work well under any extremes (note the past 4 years) and people are mostly Centrists and are constantly reminded of, and indeed bombarded with, GOP candidates' extremist statements by the opposing party in ads and debates.
- Like it or not, woman don't want politicians telling them what they can or can't do on personal matters like abortion. I personally think it's a rather odious practice, but a necessary evil. Women will not stop having abortions, and we can't go back to a time where dangerous back-alley hanger abortions are the only option. And, by the way, GOP politicians that spew ignorant, uninformed statements about how a woman's body rejects rape, scares everybody and makes Republicans look like they belong in the Stone Age. I won't discuss birth control here, because it's a personal (sometimes religious) choice and was a trumped-up phoney issue that the left pinned on us. No one spoke of eliminating birth control, only not having taxpayers pay for it.
- The GOP allowed the Left to characterize them as being anti-immigration when nothing could be further from the truth. I don't know of any Republicans that aren't proud of our immigration system and the variety of cultures it brings. We do, however believe in following our laws and not allowing anyone, of any nationality, to just barge in .... especially in such dangerous times with such dangerous radical enemies.
No Party can win elections without a healthy number of Hispanics and women of child-bearing age. This is a huge segment of our population. I don't think we need to change anything regarding blacks. The ones that get it are with us and so much smarter and classier than the ones that don't get it, and those that don't will vote again and again against their own best interest just because of skin color. Nothing we can do about it.
So, here we are, after having spent Billions on these stupid campaigns, facing another 4 years of huge debt, deficits and a health care plan where we will pay far more and get far less and wait far longer for attention. Ridiculous taxpayer investments in failing (14 of them) alternate energy companies without the luxury of having plentiful oil and coal and nuclear to fall back on. The most dishonest, and dangerously so, Fourth Estate in our history. A President who surrounds himself with anti-Semites, racists and Marxists, liars and thugs (oh yes he does!). Higher taxes to pay for bigger gov't. Lies and cover-ups. An EPA that has abandoned all common sense in favor of phoney Leftist Greenies. A creeping one-World ineffectual U.N. Countries world-wide going broke as if to offer us a blue print on how to do it. One-size-fits all society. Most scary of all, an administration that can't say the word, "terrorist" and doesn't know what it takes to protect us from them.
How could this have even happened in the first place? We walk among dumbbells.
