Walking Dead #103: About what you expect from the series atm, a little slow but i still like it. It's easy to follow, I still have my favorite characters, and there's still room for surprises. Rick's
I've got a plan!
is forgivably cheesy.

Sword of Sorcery #1: Another decent issue, i don't think it quite establishes anything substantial that makes me can't wait for the next issue, i'll pick up the trade if it gets good reviews. It could be good, has a sort of Game of Thrones vibe....with lots of gems.

DC's trade department is assy as hell, you'll probably just get a worse one back. If that reads fine just keep it.

I'm going to flip through it a little more, but i'm leaning that way. Thanks for the response.

So, I really want to read some classic X-Men right now. Can you guys recommend some X-Men trades that are good?

I bought God Love, Man Kills but it's pretty short. Looking for something a bit more substantial. Obviously Claremont's original run of X-Men is supposed to be amazing but I'm not sure what to actually pic up to start reading it.

This seems like the best place but it seems to be out of print. Is there a more current version? Any other recs would be appreciated as well. My thoughts were that I would go from that one, to this one and finish with this.

He won't be a villain, but the team will be viewed the same as the New Avengers on the run during the Civil War aftermath.
A bit different though since this team has two people who recently committed murder rather than disagreeing with a government legislation.

I still find it hilarious that Magneto is on the run when he was the most level-headed of the Extinction Team during AvX.

Art is great, is that Kev Walker?

Does lauras healing factor rival logans?

I think they said it's above his as is her sense of smell (I can't recall the scenario, but she was able to smell someone/something meters before Logan picked up the scent).
I mean it'd be really hard for her not to be the last one standing. She's a trained killer trying to become something more, she's a perfect hunter by nature. Everyone else is kinda fucked in that regard.
A shame her series didn't go anywhere, I rather like X-23 for all of the "Just like Wolverine" her character is. I mean you really can't kill her, incapacitate? sure, kill? Good luck, better hope you don't piss her off in the attempt or she'll follow you like that girl you lead on then pushed away after she got overly attached to you and slept outside your doorstep and then another time called you from the roof of the apartment complex across the street from yours peering into your house with binoculars....

It's just as good as Wolverine's. She gets fucked up pretty badly in X-Force a few times and made a quick recovery.

I remember the kimura thing, but was unaware of how long it takes her to heal. So she's on point with logan without the adamantium? And is dakens healing on the same level?

Wasn't the only reason it's above Wolverine's because of his Adamantium slowing his down?

Regardless we've seen her easily match him with having whole limbs removed. I don't know if she has ate a nuke for breakfast but then Wolverine has been nerfed since then anyway.

Yeah that's the only reason, but if you think about it...that's still saying much. But they were comparing her healing to Wolverine's post adamantinum lost and subsequent reacquiring. We know his healing factor increased much at that time. So yea Laura is pretty damn brokentier in this whole Battle Royale thing.

Basically, and Daken's up there as well. He and Laura scrapped during Emma's Dark Avengers/X-Men thing, and was already healed when he threw her aside and she stood back up with backup.

The thing that bothers me about the healing thing isn't that it's godmode but rather how they never play the pain angle much. Wolverine already confirmed he (and by extension Laura/Daken) feel pain. Looking at that panel, that shit must be on another level. I mean I sometimes puss out when I'm putting my contacts in and it burns slightly. I can't imagine having my entire upper body on fire nor having my eyeballs literally sizzling.

FUCK.THAT.

Think about all the times logans been punched by the hulk or any other bruiser, been hit by beams that would melt or burn flesh, been stabbed, sliced, disembowled, and other such things, and he just gets up. That family needs some serious therapy.

It really makes you question even more why they have had him running Tank for the last five years or so.

Tanking Omega on Utopia must've been pure hell for the man.

Yea I'd call it quits after the first stab nay, the first cut! Like "Ow! That hurt! fuck this, I'm done!"
I mean imagine him as a torture prisoner o_O. Everything healing is like a torturer's dream.

OMG I'm so gonna start a youtube channel called Wolverine's pain. It's a realistic take on all the physical pain he goes through while healing. Sketch comedy channel a go go!

I sort of have the feeling that we could be down to just Wolverine again in a few months between this series and the remainder of Remender's Uncanny X-Force.

I guess Hazmat wins.....hyped.
I always thought Hazmat and Finesse were the best parts of Avengers Academy Finesse im not too worried about, but Hazmat I thought she probably wasnt as popular a character as the rest.....then I heard she was going up against X-23 and I began the funeral preparations.

But seeing this....I am happy.

RIP Hazmat
Im putting money down her radiation stops X-23....not to death just enough to actually knock her out for while.

It looks like X-23 got a good stab in, but at the same time in unleashed all the radiation that was in the suit and probably has Hazmat shitting radioactive madness.....Hazmat wins this one injured nigh to death but alive.

I figured this fight plays out similar to SBP vs Monarch, SBP overpowers monarch for a second but that causes Monarch energy to leak out of the containment suit....same situation here.

Eh, you're awful but that's okay.

IDW does indeed make good quality books, the TMNT issues are super solid and nicely crafted. As far as I can tell, Marvel has the absolute worst paper quality *looking at you Hawkeye*

Allow me. . .

more proof ttob is awful- even after hickmans letter after this issue basically saying "ok set up is over, time to go balls deep into the universe". mp is only going to get better. and i haven't picked up a hardcopy of mp since 4 but from what i remember the paper/cover were pretty solid, no ads throughout, beautifully designed covers, etc.

Yeah, why don't you stick to playin' dress up for your trendsetter scenes, eh? You can discuss the latest issue of Pitchfork and the hot new "graphic novels" you have been reading lately in between rehydrating.

The paper stock is shit for the $3.50 price tag. I'll read it digital, and maybe get the trades. As much as I enjoy Hickman's story, Pitarra's art isn't a selling point. Manhattan projects is one of those books I read despite the art, but knowing it will be Pitarra every month is better than whoever the fuck can fill in like Hickman's FF run, which just suffered tremendously due to artistic musical chairs. :(

It's good to get some info on Secret as well. Been too long on the next issue of that.

Isn't that comic porn?
Careful when Little Billy wants mommy to buy him some funny books.

It reminds me of Cold Heart Canyon in a way. Yes there's sexual content, but there's nothing titillating about it for me.

The story is bizarre and I'd rather indulge my sickness reading weird, and boundary pushing, books like this than slowing down to look at a car accident. :P

I don't mean to overstate it, but Howard Chaykin has some industry cachet and it's good to see him doing off the rails stuff like this.

I will try to find Planetoid #2 tomorrow. If I can't, then to trades with that as well.

Storm Dogs got picked up this week. Figure I'd give it a shot.

Yo, fuck Cassaday! Put Caselli on that Avengers book! Stefano can hit it out of the park Marvel, stop making him play your shitty games.

I need to throw some books on my Amazon Christmas wish list for my friends and families. I'd like to throw some new, different stuff up there.

Some collections I already got and enjoy..

Irredeemable
GL stuff including SCW through Blackest Night
Absolutes - Long Halloween (I actually didn't care too much for it) All Star Supes, Hush
DKR
Kingdom Come
Jason Aaron Ghost Rider Omnibus
Old Man Logan
WE3
Beasts of Burden
Walking Dead
All Cosmic DnA stuff

At least you didn't use the word 'hipster'.

Tact, I have like 1/8th tsp. of it. :3

What did you think of Nightly News and Pax Romana where Hickman did the entire book (writing, art, lettering, etc)?

I wasn't keen on those. I'd consider them (Caliber) Bendis-esque in that the art existed solely to serve the story he was telling.

Hickman is a good graphic designer, but a shit visual storyteller.

I just started reading Batwing and I find it refreshingly original. A superhero in Africa is a setting you never see-and he has a great backstory.

*yawn* Wake me up when there's a Chief Man-of-Bats ongoing.

Ultimates #17 :
So super large soldiery person Lang grabs a turret from of the ground and shoots down the shield hellicarrier? If it's that easy, why didn't the turret shoot it down already? You need someone to lift it off the air to do so?
And
cap riding down with the american flag on a hovercraft thing and " this is an inspiring moment!" dialog from Hawkeye were very awkward moments spun together
I've been enjoying this book despite it's uneven weirdness but it's starting to unravel.
