Did they even announce proprietary memory cards at the ngp reveal?also every console has vaporware sure but i don't think many were expecting bioshock or ffxhd to be so.

I think we knew about the memory cards then, or at E3 2011. Thing is, the prices weren't announced until the end of the year along with the release date.

It takes a longer time to make a game from the ground up than simply to upres and port it.

Square take ages to do anything. Wouldnt call iy vapourware yet

But then GAF calls something vapourware if they havent heard news for more than 5 minutes, so...

Except Final Fantasy X HD ain't vaporware. A year does not a vaporware make. Its development has probably just been hindered by SQEX's huge focus on XIV.

lol when the NGP was first announced http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=419932 who would have thought that there will be:-

-expensive memory cards
- no monster hunter 1 year in
-call of duty would turn out to be such a stripped down version of the real thing
-DAT OLED would have most games running at far below it's resolution and several of them will suffer from spotty framerate
-killzone would not come out till 2013
-Resistance would be received so terribly
- vaporwares like ffx hd,bioshock
-it's sales would tank drastically

Sony have got so much wrong with this one.

haha yeap. In retrospect, I wonder if Sony's (completely rational, BTW) fear of piracy, which lead to the proprietary memory cards (AND STUPIDLY long time it takes to back up anything via PC) hurt its sales more than piracy would have.

And I think that, despite what some people are saying in this topic, I think it's completely the wrong direction to market the Vita as a PS3 on the go. When you do that, you're confusing the customer (should I buy it for the PS3 or the Vita?), confusing developers, and allowing reviewers to compare it to it's console counterparts (thus, middling scores for some good games).

Not saying console on the go is bad, but it shouldn't dominate.

All FF games take fucking ages to come out. Hardly vapourware yet.

Haha....I miss those days when people were complaining that FFs came out too quickly...

Yosp just lost it!

And now he's tweeting about P4's reviews. Man is having heart attack!

Umm...that was the name of the article, caps lock and all, lol. Bit of an overreaction.

Yeah, it was said to be proprietary memory cards at the reveal of the NGP. One disappointing thing they also announced that didn't come into fruition is having saves and DLC stored on the retail game cartridge itself.

Also, look how hott the Vita looked at the reveal. I mean, it still looks amazing, but it looked even better. I like how the rim around the device looked more like metal than the glossy gray plastic we have now. Plus the "Playstation" logo is straight up classy. Bottom edge and bottom of the rear touchpad looked more minimalist and classier as well, but i suppose the FCC and serial # stuff had to be put somewhere.

Yes. And no one in their right mind would have expected a monster Hunter a year in, especially since it was not announced. Also no one expected much from Bioshock and any other title they never showed a screenshot of. The only thing that could have been somewhat expected despite not seeing media would have been FFX. Being a FFXIV fan I knew what was going on though.

Also no one in their right mind would expect a game to have the same features as a console. Killzone wasn't announced for 2012. No one could predict sales and were "you" seriously anticipating resistance to be good?

I know that hindsight is 20/20 but there was simply alot of things unknown that people really couldn't have assumed with any certainty.

I dunno, I initially expected a Monster Hunter on Vita by now. Capcom was pushing big releases in that franchise every single year ... except this year. Now, I don't expect a real Monster Hunter game to be on Vita.

Wow, the metal trim did look great. Very iPhone-esque.

Versus needs to be renamed XV to continue the cycle:

NES:
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III

SNES:
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy V
Final Fantasy VI

PlayStation:
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX

PlayStation 2:
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XI
Final Fantasy XII

PlayStation 3:
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIV

In every gen we've gotten 3 numbered Final Fantasy games.

This gen we've gotten 3 Final Fantasy XIII games.

i would take XIII and its sequel over VII and VIII, but i agree it's nice to have variety re: creative teams and fictional universes.

lightning returns also sounds really imaginative, can't wait to see it

Hahaha i was playing hot beat as you posted that :), and thats what i was getting it, they seem like ostensibly the same game.

Of course they're similar, because Hot Beat is a blatant rip off of Technika - and not a very good one either. Besides the obviously stolen artwork and music, it has choppy framerate, dodgy hit detection, poorly designed charts, and falls off sync nearly constantly.

If you've played the other DJMAX titles, you know what you're getting into musically, and from what I've seen the game is very, very highly polished. They've had three arcade iterations to build on, after all!

Guys, why is the demo of Resistance 3.1 GB? is it the whole game on a timer or something? does it have multiplayer?...is the SP demo long enough?...for now I just have a 4 GB memory card...

So happy Lone Survivor is coming to Vita. Going to finally give it a shot :)

I played it on my PC for about an hour. I like indie games but LS is a piece of boring shit. Sad to see resources wasted on that game.

It's the full game. The demo is about half of a level long (1/12 of the game). There's no MP in the demo.

Hey friends, does US PSN take Paypal by any chance? Apparently I can get BoF4 if I get it from there. :O

No. You need to buy a PSN Card or use a US issued CC. Also, your Vita account has to be from the same region were you bought the game. If you buy it then change to another region, it won't start.
