Video: Bronies (grown men) invade little girls' section of Toys R Us

I've never seen sailor moon. I didn't know what it was until i started hanging out here. Now if you excuse me its time for me to go play some call of duty, work out and crush beer cans on my forehead.

I'd feel uncomfortable walking into a TRU as a person in my mid 20s. It just seems like a place I'd have no business in, since I don't have kids.

I'm 24 and get pretty embarrassed because I go there a lot, but that's because i collect Predator figures which are BAD ASS

I am very confused now. I thought this Brony stuff was all fake and those guys are just trolling everybody ... But this shit is real? They really like that stuff? Why? Serious question why do grown men like this stuff? It makes no sense and its freaking me out.

Because people like what they like, dude.

I like to be choked during sex, wear fake mustaches over my real one, and collect NSync merchandise. Those aren't big deals and neither is this.

Just because it seems to be relevant to what many are saying.

The person replying is Lauren Faust, the main woman responsible for the show being on the air right now.

what is she supposed to do, insult an incredibly large fanbase of hers? although i dont have a problem with pony fans. its the fetishists that irritate me.

No, that's a big deal. You have serious problems. I hope you get the help you need. If you need someone to talk you through this feel free to PM me.

On the other hand it's easy to see how so many young guys can't comprehend the MLP thing to any degree, with how many are too afraid to walk into a Toys R Us for any reason.

You people do know tons of adults and young men go into a TRU all the time for the rather huge video game department, bikes, outdoor department in the summer, and nevermind the Federated Forces of Lego Builders.

they just want to be noticed

It think so. This is just one of those things were they want to "out ironic" each other and prove who show how much they love it.

I'm sure at one point they had genuine affection for the show but now the tail is wagging the dog as they go to lengths to show how non-conformist and quirky they are.

I have a toystore in Norway, and saw my very first group of Bronies last week. I heard them before they came in, since they were singing the theme song in unison. But they probably weren't really true Bronies afterall, since they were girls around 16-17. Six or so, most with MLP-themed clothes and bags. I think one of them had a fedora. There's one guy their age who comes in once a week, and he has an MLP shoulder bag. Probably the only true Brony around here so far.

She could have easily ignored the question, I guarantee she doesn't respond to every message she gets.

I'm closer to the formal than the latter myself, that said, I don't get upset at those who go all out with their pony love. They're the ones making the community fun after all.

I have a young daughter and going into the girl's section of a Toys R Us and seeing this pack would make me very concerned.

Toys R Us is a great place to buy videogames and legos but I can see how people would feel weird going in as an adult.

Bronies though, it is worse than hipsterism. I remember reading that the offices at Valve are infested with them. They even have break rooms with MLP playing on TV.

Bro + ponies

The Urban Dic definition must be wrong then:

The term used to describe the fan community(usually of the older group, males and females) of the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
The term was coined on 4chan's /co/ board.
I assumed the same you did but I guess the above is just inaccurate.

Would anyone be sad if all the bronies died?

I doubt I'd care. Don't care about them now. I'd rather use those powers to get rid of mosquitos.

Fucking bronies, making such a bad word for the rest of animation fans.

I mean, look at that, it's made in FLASH.

And that's a bad thing because...?

I met a self-proclaimed Brony once. Dude, was a huge asshole. He was loud and obnoxious and would make inside jokes about the show as if we were supposed to know what the hell he was talking about.

Annoying as shit. I'm glad he's dead.

Or moved away or whatever.

I think I get it and I don't understand all the hate. People pointing at them and laughing shows more insecurity and weirdness in the people pointing than the bronie. I've watched the first season and it was a nice break from the normal "guy" stuff that's entertained me for almost the past 3 decades. There's no reason men can't be entertained by cute and happy stuff instead of explosions, violence, and tits.

Of course she wouldn't say "it's fucking weird, but whatever they buy merchandise".

I'm not saying grown men can't watch kids show aimed at girls, but their obsession is creepy and their community is horrible from my experience.

I always find it interesting that things like MLP and Sonic seem to draw the extreme fringes of fandom to them, in which their love for certain things almost becomes a lifestyle of its own.

But there's so many other places that sell that stuff, why go to a Toys R Us store? It's like going to a chuck e cheese to play your favorite arcade cabinet.

Even just going to a Target would serve all your needs and it wouldn't be nearly as uncomfortable to walk into as a TRU.

I know a couple of bronies myself. Like furries, they're good people, just usually socially awkward. I have no problem with them at all, despite me not giving a shit about MLP.

What I don't get is why bronies keep making these clearly awkward videos and releasing them to the public knowing damn well that the Internet loves to tear them apart for being awkward man children. Okay, perhaps they just don't give a shit. That's cool, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that not all bronies want to be painted in such a light, and that each video like this only helps to further ostracize the brony community, moving it further away from public acceptance. But once again, I don't think most of them care or even want to be accepted. If they did, there wouldn't be so many damn examples of them being so candidly odd. But again, I suppose you could chalk that up to social ineptitude rather than a "zero fucks given" attitude.

I think some of the hardcore, yet socially capable bronies need to come out into the public eye. Bronies who aren't easily offended by negative criticism and nasty insults, going so far as to even be self-deprecating on occasion. Bronies who hold a steady job, have a significant other (bonus points if he/she isn't into MLP but sticks around because their partner is genuinely a great person), and maintain a healthy social life in general. I know that sounds like asking for too much, but there are some bronies like that out there -- I know a few of them.

I really should reboot Carebears. I already own Flash Professional CS5.5 and subpar animation skills. It will sell like pancakes.

They already tried that and it didn't go over well.

They even tried to get male fans of Care Bears to start calling themselves 'Belly Bros.'

I don't know how to respond to somebody telling me that my boyfriend and I don't love each other.

...

I guess it's a while since I've been told that.

Pretty fucking cold.

acting like you care what a random person on the internet thinks
cute
