The people who get upset about people liking MLP are like the people who get upset at gay marriage.
Nah you're too kind. People who get upset about people who like MLP are just like Hitler.

Seriously It's the obsessive fans that fuck it up for the others.

eh, Bronies are perceived as odd because they chose a cartoon clearly targeted at young girls to rally themselves around. MLP, of all the media out there, is what this group chose to identify themselves with. That's fine & all, but it shouldn't be surprising most people will find that weird.

Couple that with bronies going apeshit when MLP launched (pics / GIFs everywhere) is why there's a backlash online.

I think part of the community has formed around the initial backlash though... that's a different discussion however.

The only(well not really...) thing that i'll never understand about bronies... is why they have to turn every single character out there into a pony version. I bet there is even a Companion Cube Pony somewhere.

I dunno... its just weird and creepy. I don't see people turning every characters into a Powerpuff Girl version.

I don't get it, are you saying that Gaf has disappointed you in its intolerance, but then you turn around and become intolerant yourself? Elucidate please.
Might have read me wrong there. I am not intolerant to anything. I am fine with nearly everything that comes up. It is just interesting to me to watch this place devour this trend. It's rare. That is all I am commenting on.

or how star wars fans turn everything into star wars characters or darth vader, and how the company panders to the star wars fanboys and stuff like fucking angry birds star wars now.

And how about the crazy pokemon fans who never shut up about the pokemans and how they pikachu this and pikachu that and mew this and charizard that.

Fanbases are nuts.

Oh and the craziest fucking fanbase of all

zombies

bronies actually realize that magical ponies aren't real, star wars fans realize it's not real, and Some pokemon fans realize that pokemon aren't real

BUT ZOMBIE FANS BELIEVE ZOMBIES ARE REAL AND PLAN FOR OUTBREAKS AND SHIT

THATS INSANE

It's just that comment about shooting yourself (said in jest, surely). I interpreted that statement as "Bronies are so horrifying I want to shoot myself", reinforcing that with the comment "This is scary. "Cloppers". Jesus Christmas. It's scary. My Little Pony porn" which can only be taken in a condemning tone.

Yeah. Well I said it before, yes i do think it is fairly horrifying, or embarrassing. Pick one. I had a hard enough time as a dorky kid being into science fiction, science nonfiction, sea-stories, pirates, and fantasy. THAT stuff alone got me atomic wedgies, swilries, and made me dorky and an outcast. This is just some other level shit.

Oh, I see. Honestly don't see why it's so horrifying. Internet's a dark, dark place, a shitload darker than naked ponies that's for sure. You wanna know what's terrible? Go to Encylopedia Dramatica, and search up "Offended". If that doesn't pull the trigger, then you're fine.

It's more sad than disgusting. These guys are so desperate to be a member of a community that they become hardcore fans of a tv series for small girls. The adversity, laughter, and insults they endure only bring them closer together as an awkward family.

My mom always told me to talk to the quiet guy on the bus, or share a cookie with the ostracized kid during lunch. I feel like if more people did those things than groups like Bronies wouldn't exist. This is more an issue about socially damaged people than a group of grown men who truly enjoy buying toys for girls.

I reckon this brony thing is rooted in a deep sense of nostalgia and a kind of rejection of the notion of growing up and everything that brings with it. Everything's so bright and colourful and happy and childlike in that cartoon.

But then of course there are also those guys that somehow sexualise all that and that's where it gets weird. And frankly a little disturbing.

They were already awkward before they became Bronies. Insecure people use that to validate their hate of the fandom. If they were not so awkward, or if they had never joined the fandom Pony fans would be a hell of a lot harder to attack. These guys aren't berated for being awkward (which is the underlying problem) but rather because they are awkward AND are Bronies, and people tie those two together with the Brony aspect as the dominant. Unfortunately the regular fans of the show are caught in the crossfire.

I know exactly what you mean. I got ridiculed in school for my geeky interests, which by today's standards are completely mainstream. It's like these Bronies are intentionally pushing the boundaries of "Hey everyone, laugh at me!"

Anything socially unorthodox gets laughed at... until it becomes orthodox. Applies to damn near everything in the world.

Also I didn't have much trouble in school, but being swathed in a perceived aura of crazy helps with that.

Attacking the girls toy section is not a good look for you my dudes.

It is what it is... I'm fine with bronies. They just have to accept that the majority of people will look down on them no matter how much they explain it. Having to explain why you like it is already lame..

urge to kill... rising...

He got his Porky Pie! Good for him.

I am still convinced all this My Little Pony stuff is an elaborate prank perpetrated by unsavory elements on the Internet to get other people to watch an animated show conceived and produced for prepubescent girls.

If only these scoundrels knew their chicanery would begat the video of the mildly retarded man complaining about not getting Porky Pie in his McDonald's kid's meal, and also clopping.

Part of the problem is they've fostered this bizarre counter-culture that can pull-in and give serious problems to geeks with less confidence.

The Alpha Bronies have this geek superiority complex and don't give a fuck what others think of them, but the more awkward geeks looking for something to be included in get into it and can't quite pull it off, becoming intensely creepy in the process.

I don't quite know how to solve that problem, but that can't be any worse than them stewing in their own loneliness then doing something really bad, like self-harm. Being social, even awkwardly, at least gives them a chance to gain confidence and social skills.

Wut? That's a really odd statement.

More like what's up with that weird otter avatar. Seriously, otters don't have pink hair.

No surprise whatsoever that none of them look like they've been inside a gym before.
Yup, MLP and gym memberships are mutually exclusive.

The projecting in this thread is as delicious as it is hopelessly transparent. Carry on, this is more amusing/embarrassing than the video.

Every time I've seen an inside look into the Brony fandom, it's always extremely misogynistic, racist, homophobic, and generally super-inclusive. My Nationalist Pony, people freaking out at Twilight Sparkle being drawn as a black human, instantly thinking Apple Jack is a lesbian because she enjoys stereotypical-boy pursuits and thus most definitely wants to fuck the other ponies, and, of course, bashing little girls who like the show and trying too hard to make the show "theirs" through gender-inclusive terms like Bronies and Pegasisters, with the latter always being subjugated in terms of importance.

And I'm being serious. I know not every Brony's like that, obviously, and I know you can say the same about video-game fans in general, but it's bizarre how many close-minded people have latched onto a show whose main message is "love and tolerate".

That's me. Get out.

No, you're the otter-mancer, my court wizard and sex slave. You practically handed me the title because you challenged me to speed-gardening despite me repeatedly telling you that I am the greatest at speed-gardening.
