Say what you will about Mass Effect 3, but listening to the beautiful ME1 menu theme, Vigil, still reminds me of when I cared about the series. Curious to know what Brad thinks of it after all his efforts in the whole save data saga.

I think I've reached the point where I can go back and play the original and appreciate it again. I just have to refuse to accept the aspects of ME 3 that retroactively destroy that universe. I am curious though, given Brad's appreciation for science, what he thinks of that shockingly bad ending. I have a feeling he'll hate it the way I hate it.

Just subbed for my first time today! :D

Been wading through all the juicy stuff I missed

You might have seen it but there is a video titled "Coffe Kids and Games." Its about Vinny talking about the games he was playing right after his kid was born. Obviously. its outdated, but if you enjoy Vinny its a good video anything!

I genuinely loved playing through Mass Effect 1 all the way to the moment right before the
beam of light transports you
in Mass Effect 3. People say "it's the journey that counts" and all that, but it's not that simple when something sours you as much as the ending. There are some damn amazing moments in that trilogy though, and I'm still glad I played through it all.

Yeah, I wish I could be one of those people, but I can't. The last act of ME3 felt like it betrayed all player agency up until that point, turning the character you built into nothing more than a drone. It's crazy thinking about how much care I put into handling my character save - making sure it was backed up so nothing would happen to it between OS re-installs - all for nothing.

I got a question for you fine gents. I'm currently going through the Bombcast since I have a ton of free time at work nowadays. I'm up to date on '12 and I just finished up '11 today. I'm wondering if I should go to the start or if I should go into '10. When did Vinny and Brad join? Should I just start from there or are the early bombcasts worth liistening to. I plan to go over all of them, '11 took me a good 2 months to finish so I'm worried about getting burned out and lose interest if I have to wade through some early Bombcasts before I get back to the good stuff. Or is it all good? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Vinny and Brad joined soon after they had the GB name and dropped Arrow Pointing Down. Pretty much since the beginning. You should really just listen to the "This Year" compilations.

Its all good, but you are probably better off listening to the best of collections from here.

It even has recaps from the gamespot years.

Lol I already ran through them(this year). That was what I started with. I work 12 hour shifts now so I run through a good 3 episodes a night.

I'm gonna start from the beginning. It's good to know that Vinny and Brad were there from the start.

How were the recent Quick Looks? I still haven't watched Lego Harry Potter, F1, Cherry Tree, Thundercats, or even DBZ. Oof, I've fallen behind. That last one I'll definitely get to. My two favorite things in one.

Did you just confuse Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter?

Vinny and Brad were totally right in that QL. You can accept that they had to adapt the movies for audiences, but stuff like Aragorn throwing a torch into a Nazgul's face, or the intro with Sauron the 10-foot murder machine, or turning Sauron into a giant eyeball spotlight, were all stupid and corny as hell.

I hope you sent him to the GB guys.

Edit: Oh right just saw the forum post on the GB website... And of course the first reply is a from a dude that wants to flag to post.... What a fucking terrible community. Now I remember why I never go on their forums.

Eh, agreed on the 1st and 3rd examples, which are Jackson straight up making shit up, but Sauron was that tall, and he did come out at the end of the siege of Barad Dur and kick ass. Not the way I would've presented it, but it is a reasonable interpretation of the event.

Whats different in the books? Never read em.

The books are just like the movies, except good.

OH SNAP

Edit: They left out a bunch of stuff in the movies, too much to put down... but just a lot of the feeling was lost for sure... for instance, my favorite part of the book, is at the very very very end and is not included in the movie at all

The hobits go back to the shire after they've been on this life changing adventure, to find out it's been taken over by some crook basically. (small time dude compared to the world, BIG TIME news for the shire you know), and basically they just fuck his shit up because they are bad asses now.
