Wii U back in stock at GameStop

First pic was taken at Best Buy last night around 8pm in Annapolis MD.

Second pic was taken by someone else on CAG at an unspecified Target location last night. He said that all those Wii U's were far away from the electronics section and that the electronics section had even more.

So right after more stock probably came in.
Not that I know this - but mid-day is the real test.

We know Gamestop got reshipped last night too.
But thanks for the info - least we can take away that they're stocked.

If they're really selling or not, I guess we'll find out.

true, not sure it will be that bad. Wonder how long it will take for fans to realize its not a wii repeat, it took a long time for vita fans to accept it being a dud, including me

I realize everyone is going to make these comparisons, but the reality is that there was basically zero chance of a "Wii repeat". The demand, the mass media attention- it was unprecedented and will never be repeated again.

Using that line as some sort of bludgeon against Nintendo is really misguided, and even bringing up the vita in this sort of discussion is ridiculous.

Sounds like stocking for Black Friday to me. I wonder why they would do that?
If it was sold out though, they wouldn't be able to request more, surely? As in the current number produced has sold out, I mean. So it seems that either they've been able to produce more Wii Us than past consoles have for launch, or it's not selling quite as well.

Wii U may sell more units at launch worldwide than Vita will sell in its lifetime.

It's probably a little of both. They have said all along that they were going to ship more volume than Wii between launch and xmas. What that translates into re: sales, we'll have to see.

I don't see it selling poorly by any means, but I do sort of wonder if limiting the Deluxe model has somewhat harmed sales. They seem to be getting snatched pretty quickly. How many people are holding out for that bundle?

Hopefully by the time I want a Wii U, it'll be easier to find than the Wii. Jesus, talk about not making enough. I really don't want to be stalking trucks as they get to stores and calling all around town just to get 1. Thankfully until I see a Zelda or Metroid, I can wait. Probably a price drop too. Might be awhile before one of these happens.

I've read in places (maybe here?) that they are shipping more Deluxe units than Basic ones. I do agree though that the Basic model is not going to be nearly as popular.

To be fair, other than 1 girl at the demo station, i dont see a customer in sight in either of those pics, so it could possibly have been early in the morning before traffic started coming into the store, or it could be just before closing time and they just restocked the shelves to have them ready for Black Thanksgiving opening today.

I remember during Wii madness when you couldn't walk into a store and buy one, i was in Sam's Club around 2pm and almost shit myself when i saw a shelf just like those pics fully stocked with Wii systems. Apparently my timing was good because UPS had delivered 30 systems an hour previously and they just put them out on the shelf.

I work at GameStop. I had to call all of our waiting list customers to see if they wanted to get the Wii Us we had left over after preorders, which some people never picked up also. Almost all of them either said they couldn't buy it or didn't want to buy it anymore.

The bad word of mouth at effect, not a good sign.

Nintendo confirmed that. They didn't want another Wii situation..

Nintendo borught the console out for Black Friday. They planned their replenishment and production around being in stock tomorrow.
If it were out of stock - there'd be a problem. Going into Friday with little stock problems is the plan.

The Wii hasn't even outsold the PS2. Thankfully so.

I'm sure you can be content with the Japanese sales numbers until Nintendo abandons this console in three years.

Oh my. Let me know if you want to have a serious discussion.

Did anyone think you would be able to get a Wii U on Gamestop.com just a few days after release? Basic units are still available right now. Sure, they might have increased supply, but there is little doubt that the demand is much lower than everyone thought

I did. The advertising was horrible this time. With the Wii, Nintendo had at thing everywhere on TV beforehand--Today Show, Ellen, etc. Now? Nobody even knew about it.

It will sell fine, but no way we see Wii-like sales. Not even close.

That's what Nintendo said last week though.

If you believe what Nintendo was saying before launch.

The Wii U had more stock available at launch compared to the orginal Wii. Also they will be restocking the Wii U far more frequently, compared to the orginal Wiis launch season in 2006.

why would people wait for a crazy sale day to buy in-demand hardware? Surely its too new to be discounted, so you'll just get trampled for no reason. Just go today and buy one.

I saw some last night at the Arundel Mills Best Buy in Hanover MD too.

Well then, you are a much better prognosticator than me. While I agree that there was very little hype and almost no mainstream buzz, I thought the video game enthusiast crowd would be drawn to it because of it being the first console release in years. I thought that alone was enough to make it sold out through December.

This is a bit of a misconception. Nobody seems to remember the Wii launch very well.

The system's launch was not a big deal. I waited at Best Buy and bought one on launch, they didn't even sell out, and then I went across the street to Target and bought another. The Wii didn't become the big thing until about a week or two after launch. Resale prices on Ebay didn't get above $350 until a few weeks after and then the thing became impossible to find for months. The launch was very meh and it immediately seemed like the system would flop, the success only came after the system was out in the wild and word of mouth started to spread.

Maybe the Wii U can do the same.

That is very unlikely. I dont think that the WiiU will sell 2.5 million+ units on launch day, i'm not sure there is even that big supply. Unless launch means launch window of 3-4 months, but even that is unlikely in my opinion.

Maybe in your area. Shit was gone everywhere in So Cal. There were huge lines just to preorder the system the month prior at Gamestop. Target, Costco, Walmart, Circuit City. All raped the first day.

I lived outside Chicago at the time and it was the same way there. There is no comparison between the Wii and Wii U launches as far as hype goes.

Only 34 basic Wii U's left on Gamestop

I went to Walmart last night and they had at least 20 of each set just chillin in a case. I did a store tracker of Target and Walmart in the area and nearly every store had stock.

Are you kidding? I live in Chicago, and that thing was sold out everywhere. I wanted one so badly, but you couldn't find one for months.

Huh, didn't realize it was sold out in some places. I went shopping just the other day and saw plenty of them available at 4 different stores.

What this guy said. It was the PS3 launch that everyone was talking about. Only the die hard nintendo fans were excited about the Wii at launch. Took a few weeks to take off. I have no idea if that's what going to happen with the Wii U though.

It has to be said that the marketing has been awful..as has Nintendo's attempt (or lack of) in regards to hyping the machine. I'm not surprised at the lack of a sell-out.

Advertising in the UK has been very poor in quality and quantity as well (I have seen far more ads for Wonderbook and Vita than I have the Wii U).

It's really tempting to go out and pick one up knowing how easily I could find one, even though I don't really want it right now.

Maybe that's why I have a PSPGo
