Deserved. Dont be blaring loud music and not expect people to react. The guy said he felt threatened too so who knows what that kid could have done. Maybe him and his friends struck him.

Yes it is.

No, it isn't. See how easy that was?

As a pro-gun advocate I'm also heavily pro-regulation. Incidents like this are detrimental to 2nd Amendment rights. A system should be put into place to prevent unbalanced people like the shooter from legally owning a gun in the first place.

Depressingly predictable for the most part. I have to say though, firing from inside your car into another car is so profoundly cowardly that I was somewhat surprised.

That's why in many states, again using Alabama as an example, doing so would elevate the act to capital murder.

As an aside, it appears that Florida does not use the aggravator system when determining whether or not a crime is death-penalty eligible: http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes...ring&URL=0700-0799/0782/Sections/0782.04.html

...he felt threatened while in his car with a gun while they were in their vehicle playing music loudly? So he shot at them and killed one. Surely, I am missing something here.

I have to hold judgement until we know more about the case. With the facts we have now, I think the guy should be tried for murder. But if more details from the case come out and the teens flashed a gun at him before he started shooting, that changes everything. I mean, he would still be a douchebag for not defusing the situation and driving away, but he'd have a ground to stand on.

In fairness though, since they are prosecuting him, I'm guessing that's not the case and he is, in fact, a psychopath.

There is no way in hell the story would not say the teens flashed a gun if that happened.

Unless that information isn't public. The defendant might only have told police or his lawyer in which the police may not make that public with no evidence up front to back up his claim. Cases go to trial with all sorts of data kept from the public.

Still though, I think the guy just shot the kid.. and was probably threatened in some kind of argument. Still though, probably nothing worthy of pulling a gun and killing someone. Most likely psycho.

There's a statement from the police in the article.

In other articles I've read:

Dunn claimed to see the barrel of a gun. No gun was found.

He also said that he thought they were gang members (no hint of racism here, nope).

This is going to be extremely ugly if it goes to trial. I expect Dunn's lawyers to smear the victim as much as possible.

lol if that second one is true. Definitely confirms what a lot of us suspected.

The heated argument?

I guess maybe if they threatened to kill him? The absolute only way I can see him being even kind of not the bad guy is if the argument consisted of them saying something like "We're going to kill you right now with this gun in our car, we're reaching for it right now so you are fucked".

If they said that, or something to that effect and started to mime reaching around their car for a gun - well... I guess it's 'understandable'.

But guns are bad.

The heated argument?

LOL - you got me.

Okay.

Look at the George Zimmerman shooting.

I keep hearing he killed the kid because he was black =/
I'm just getting tired of it

No. He just decided to follow the kid because he was black.

He killed him because he was a wanna-be cop with anger management problems that had no idea how the fuck conflict escalation/de-escalation worked.

I hope it's possible to keep track of these "gun collectors" in the future. Something like the National Sex Offender registry, that way I know who to stay away from around here.

Loud music is no reason to shoot someone. That's bullshit.

Sounds like dude was having a bad day. Heard "that damn rap music!" and decided that today he wasn't going to tolerate it.

Prolly told them to turn it down and they said probably declined in an insulting fashion and the situation escalated into a conflict.

The real issue is would he have been pissed off and taken such action if they were blasting loud rock music and were white kids? And would he have shot them? I highly doubt it.

I'll never understand the complete hatred some people have in their hearts for rap. I mean, you don't like it. Fine. Nothing wrong with taste. I hate country music but I don't bitch about it and roll my eyes incessantly about it.

Gun collecting isn't a crime. And considering the overwhelming majority of gun collectors don't do shit like this it'd be unjustifiable.
