That's fairly sad.

I would argue of most characters in general, though.

It's not like there's a huge number of great male characters. Alyx is a wonderfully written character and I wish we had more like her, regardless of gender.

It's sad if you think it's true. Elena and Bonnie are both drastically better characters. And Glados if you count her as a female.

All valid choices, too. I just got a soft spot for Alyx!

Elena would be my #2 I think.

A female lead in GTA5 would have been really interesting since Rockstar have really been trying hard with there characters recently.

Would be interesting seeing a female character reaction to GTA staples like hookers, strip clubs, pimps and so on.

Hope they try it with DLC.

Sadly, I don't think Rockstar is brave enough to try a female playable character. They know if they do, every action, every line of dialogue and every piece of marketing material will be under incredible scrutiny from all directions.

Alyx Vance is still the pinnacle of female characters.

As shit of a game Dragon Age 2 was they really did a good job on her. Head of the guards, strong, dignified, intelligent, never wore skimpy clothing and wasn't even a romance choice.

Yeah maybe not for in GTA.

Maybe they could try it with red dead?

Still with Rockstars current trend of serious, mostly believable characters they are probably one of the few studios who could do something really interesting with a female lead.

Aveline was ok, but she also spent half of the game being a creeper and sexually harassing her subordinate while neglecting her responsibilities as city watch captain of one of the most crime ridden and shitty cities in Thedas.

Double Fine just posted: Get familiar with BRAZEN now, because at 4:30pm Pacific, Giant Bomb is going to go live with a BRAZEN co-op stream!

Bully 2. 2014. Female lead. Believe.

If there's any livestream today I hope it's a live Far Cry 3 quick look. I hope that's not an unrealistic desire (like video embargoes I don't know about)

She was good because she was so normal.

But when I think of BG+E I can't really remember anything she did. I liked the overall story, but her character isn't memorable to me. That's not bad because she was meant to just be an average person, and they succeeded in that, but as a result I don't rate her character that highly, if you know what I mean.

You could try, though, which is doubly subversive. They give you the options, but she'll never take the bait.

I'd agree with this. She seemed very normal, but still had a more feminine touch to her motivations (the mothering role she takes on with all of the children on the island) than most female characters. (Unlike most female characters [Samus, Chell, FemShep], who could be swapped out for a male character with ease.)

that's true, but unlike Alyx or Bonnie or the DA2 characters, she is the protagonist

Does this mean that Double Fine are going ahead with Brazen? Muir plus that concept are just to good to die at the prototype level. It'll take some of the sting away from Kaiju Piledriver not making it too.

I'm on the Giant Bomb 2 thread, ctrl+Fing 'Leigh', and I have so far only found 1 isolated mention. I'm working backwards from the last page, and I'm currently on page 190. That's 900 posts.

Now, can we please stop doing what Leigh seemingly wants us to do and talk about the actual issue and not about her making it about herself?

Why would you search like that Caesar?

I was going to make that joke.

Spoilers: they will consider the DF version smartly "streamlined".

To be fair. It will be the "first" MH type game with online integration. I'm just glad that Double Fine has at least one part of the company that ostensibly cares about systems.

Edit: Damn you to the 8th circle of hell Mr. F!

Brazen could be good, but nobody has managed to make a good Monster Hunter clone yet and plenty have tried. What's most interesting about this is that Brad Muir seems to be a MH fan. He needs to get on GB to defend the series' honour.
