For a forum that's supposedly passionate about games there's a lot of spiteful comments in here. Bah.
Some people are bigger fans of spite than they are of games.

Humble Bundle inc. just shot themselves in the foot. I don't know how much the rest of you know about indie games (I'm an expert), but credibility and elitism are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in XBOX 360 where you can become successful by being an a******. If you screw someone over in indie games, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the indie gamers, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Humble Bundles, nor will they purchase any of THQ's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Humble has alienated an entire market with this move.
Humble Bundle inc, publicly apologize and cancel the "humble" THQ publisher bundle or you can kiss your business goodbye.
Apparently they do now.
You dont have to add money to your Paypal. Just login and pay, they will charge your cc.
You don't have to. You can just click the button on the HB site and log into PayPal from there and it'll pay through your card indirectly. There's a fee because it's PayPal, but you don't need to actually add any money yourself.
Quite tempted to buy it and slap all the money to THQ.
Go ahead and slap me. I feel strongly about charity, so I donate the vast majority (often all) of my HIB purchases to charity. It's not out of hate or spite for the dev, it's just a priority thing. No one should be verbally beaten up for choosing to use the slider provided. If HIB meant "some proceeds go to charity" or "devs guaranteed minimum", they'd say that. If they wanted to establish a particular minimum price, they'd do that too. Instead, they have the system they have, and it works for everyone.
But beyond that, from a THQ context, if you calculate that their demise is imminent regardless of this, then the money you're pumping into the company essentially just compensates their creditors, rather than their staff. Giving to THQ in this way only "saves" them if you actually think they're going to make enough to come out of this alive.
I think it's true that the spirit of the original HIB was to support developers directly. This is, of course, a very unusual Humble Bundle. Steam-only, Windows-only, and a corporate publisher. However, I think some context is required as well. We're dealing with a seriously ill publisher--there are probably developers who have participated in the Humble Bundle who are more well capitalized than THQ. So it's not, like, a corporate monolith by comparison. I guess the debate is more about whether or not HIB is at least partially a refutation of the publisher model? I think a lot of indie developers view it that way, but a lot of customers probably don't feel so strongly.
I do think there's a legitimate debate to be had. I don't think this opens the door to Humble Bundle EA next week. I don't think it undermines previous work by Humble Bundles to create a safe and viable business outlet for indies. I don't think it undermines the Humble Store. I don't think it makes them hypocrites. It might be a bad decision, but I think the extenuating circumstances are the reason why it happened.
If you want the games, you pay for the games. If you want to give to charity, give to charity. If you want the games and give to charity you give money to both. But to want the games and value it as $0 would be an insult imo. If you just wanted to give to charity, there's nothing stopping you from giving them money directly instead of having to use humblebundle to do it.
Got mine right away. Check with Humble support chat if you think something's gone wrong.Hm, sure is taking a while for my mail to arrive with the keys. Anyone else waiting? Don't believe I mistyped my e-mail address.

Following up on my last post, anyone want a SR3 code?
I really can't imagine how people are upset about this. I'll definitely be kicking some money THQ's way.

then whats the reasoning behind giving you the option to give 100percent to charity?

I have a extra code without Saint's Row.
This isn't a company exploiting "indie" to churn massive profits, this is just a company just trying to survive. Doesn't seem that different to the starving indies, except a lot more people will be impacted if THQ starves.
sure check PM in a minute. Can I have it please?
Not really a big fan of THQ games but I definitely don't want them closing down. The less game devs out there the worse the state of gaming. As much as I want indie devs to be successful, if I had to choose between games like VVVV and Far Cry 3, I would pick the AAA title any day.I just erased quite a post about indies, but I'd rather not insult anyone. I hope they understand. People's jobs are on the line. No more Darksiders, no more Metro (unless they find another publisher), no more Company of Heroes, no more Homefront if the company goes down under and not another publisher rises its finger to help.
Those indies seem to think they're the best for giving the finger to these 'big corporations', but lets be honest, THQ is no big corp. their freaking shares are at 1 dollar each! Now think about this for a second: next-gen IS on us, there's nothing to prevent it, and THQ has to either adapt or go broke, so the real question is whether or not they can get the capital to adapt, but can they? Can they actually show investors that they can turn around and make good profit?
Anyway, shame I don't have a CC or I would buy this in a heartbeat, I don't have any of those games! Would love to help THQ (and the charities too).
There's nothing stopping you from doing that through the HB either, so then why is it established that way?
You see it as an insult to "value" the games at $0, people who do it see it as a token of appreciation (receiving the games in return) for giving to a charity. If you don't like the system, then don't participate in it. The HB guys established it like that for a reason, and that reason is to let the people paying decide. Why then do you not value their decision?
How exactly does this hurt indie devs?
Some people need to grow up and stop being whiny little bitches.
sure check PM in a minute.
So do you get one key or multiple? I own everything but CoH

Cool bundle, didn't own any of the games though I rented SR3 through redbox. Will be nice to have a PC copy now that I have a good PC. Have been meaning to checkout Darksiders so couldn't have asked for a better deal on getting it.
Hoping the other Red Faction game is an eventual bonus game.
Poor THQ...
