Eh, I think Rutgers giant fleet of wrs was a problem, and should of been a bit more diversified roster. And I don't think Rutgers could ever compete with OSU, I'd settle for being a solid 3rd tire BIG team, with some jumps to 2nd tier in a good year.
A solid 3rd tier BIG team is Purdue at 6-6.
Purdue fired their head coach this year.
The point is Flood's recruiting isn't as good as it needs to be for the BIG. In order to compensate for his substandard coaching, he needs to recruit classes similar to last season's class. Classes that rank at least 3rd-4th in conference.
He's not doing that as far as I can tell. There are no Hafleys & Angelichio's on this staff. He doesn't have the recruiting ability of Dabo Swinney (a shitty coach who makes pay dirt through recruiting.)
I also think taking a large part of the recruits from last year and putting them at wide receiver was a major mistake. We now lack serious depth at cornerback, depth that could have been rectified if he put someone like Ian Thomas at cornerback.
