College Football Week 14 - Conference Championship Games and Pseudo Championships

This game was lost after the ineligible player down the field call.

The rest was just heightened theater.

On the plus side maybe we can get rid of an assload of the offensive coaches now.

That throw was turrible. :\ Shakes my head. :(

In one season I think our contingent of Rutgers fans has tripled. What a horrible season to be a Cal bear.

Unlike Schiano, Flood isn't going to be able to recruit his way into bowl games.

So... I don't think he'll last long.

Good thing we scored that Big 10 invite before he really brought us low.

With that said, I'm not sure Tim P. is the right guy to hire a new coach. His coaching hire record is spotty.

Soccer - success.
Lacrosse - jury still out.
Men's basketball - Looking like a failure.
Football - Tough to judge. Flood was a hire that he was forced into making.

The joke of a BCS bowl that the Big East is involved in this year will be even worse than usual. A team that lost to UConn is going to be in a BCS bowl... let that sink in for a little bit.

So might a team that lost to Kentucky. *shudders*

There was a team last year that lost to Iowa St and played in a BCS bowl and was a few computer points from playing in the MNC....

Like last year when a "joke of a team that lost to Syracuse" went to a BCS bowl?

Oh snap...

I'm looking at the bright side of this, Rutgers would of been absolutely destroyed by FSU and Florida, at least we don't have to witness that.

edit.

It's pretty much impossible for a men's basketball coach to succeed at Rutgers, the RAC hurts us way too much.

The RAC is an oversized gym. I always thought it was pretty cool as a student. It's certainly not the type of basketball arena that would be possible anymore due to changes in building codes.

If they just got a decent scoreboard it would be a plus.

All valid point guys. Overall, I just am not too impressed with Louisville- this isn't like WVU going into their BCS games. Heck, the Brohm Louisville team that won the Orange Bowl is orders of magnitude better than this squad.

I feel for Rutgers- a BCS appearance would have given them good momentum going into the B1G. They're gonna need to hit the ground running with recruits to compete there. The last thing they want to do is end up in Indiana purgatory.

How do we have more Rutgers fans than USC fans?

Demographics, huge state school in a big area, that really has nothing to cheer for college football wise, and there's no segmentation here like you have with that other school.

edit. Plus sanctions.

WVU last season was a three loss unranked team in a three way tie in the BE getting in by virtue of BCS points.

They hung 70 on the ACC champ. There was no indication they were far and away above the other BE teams or anything.

Sorry Lonestar, I'm not going to collect Rutgers fans tears for you today.

Oh wait, here's a good one:

Kyle Flood = Bill Stewart.

There, I said it.

I'm definitely not enamored with Flood (he was the position coach of one our weakest units), but I don't think the downgrade from Schiano to him was that great (not having a dedicated qb coach was insane of Schiano.)

In all fairness, Schiano wasn't as good a college coach as Rich Rodriguez.

In all honesty, just going to the BIG is doing Rutgers wonders already (and PSU's total selfdestruction obviously helped Rutgers a ton). Got a legit wr commit tonight, and should pull out a solid class out of no where.

That wr commit had offers from Purdue & WVU. And WVU backed off at the end.

That won't get it done. Those are the kinds of offers most of our already flailing wide receiver core pulled down.

Eh, I think Rutgers giant fleet of wrs was a problem, and should of been a bit more diversified roster. And I don't think Rutgers could ever compete with OSU, I'd settle for being a solid 3rd tire BIG team, with some jumps to 2nd tier in a good year.

A solid 3rd tier BIG team is Purdue at 6-6.

Purdue fired their head coach this year.

The point is Flood's recruiting isn't as good as it needs to be for the BIG. In order to compensate for his substandard coaching, he needs to recruit classes similar to last season's class. Classes that rank at least 3rd-4th in conference.

He's not doing that as far as I can tell. There are no Hafleys & Angelichio's on this staff. He doesn't have the recruiting ability of Dabo Swinney (a shitty coach who makes pay dirt through recruiting.)

I also think taking a large part of the recruits from last year and putting them at wide receiver was a major mistake. We now lack serious depth at cornerback, depth that could have been rectified if he put someone like Ian Thomas at cornerback.

It was obvious Rutgers would lose.

You know why?

Their mens bathroom has 4 stalls, 4 urinals.....and 16 sinks.

Im not even joking, I counted.

If you fail in the bathroom, you fail everywhere.

Schiano only had somebody as good as Hafley and Angelicho for one year, Dinkins and Paganos are are actually really good. And in all honesty I'm not as worried about cb's as I'm worried about safeties.

Compared to last year I don't see it in terms of recruiting.

Regardless of how long Schiano had Hafley and Angelichio, it's apparent at this point that having guys like them is what it's going to take to succeed with Flood as your head coach.

FUCK YOU georgia tech

that shit was OURS

I doubt they win tonight anyway.

I forgot to get my picks in in time for Louisville and Rutgers but I probably would have picked Rutgers anyway. And I would pick FSU tonight, but I'm probably never picking them again. I'm also not picking my own team this week, same as Florida week, as I'm channeling my inner Munson and being pessimistic.
