My recommendation is above, I've so far only played 2 Vita games and Liberation is my favorite of the two.

I want to continue my praise, the way you can open up the map by touching the minimap is smooth as hell and makes for a better experience than the consoles. Some of the touch stuff is gimmicky, but not in an invasive or detrimental way. I opened a letter by running my thumb and forefinger across the front and back touchscreen at the same time. It was stupid, but also kinda awesome.

I've just realised. I've been top of the page quite a few times, and I've never recommended anything to buy.

What can I do to redeem myself?

Is there a better way of getting a game save from a 1.81 firmware Vita to a 2.00 Vita other than:

1. Use OpenCMA to transfer save from Vita to PC
2. Move save to a current official install of CMA
3. Use official CMA to transfer save from PC to new Vita

If that's what I have to do, can two versions of CMA be installed on the same computer, or do I have to use different ones?

The last few pages users havent either. The more people get used to it, the higher the chances that first posts will live up to their potential :p

(Buy No Heroes Allowed & Alundra to repent for your sins!)

B-b-but I've still got a pretty sizable PSP/Vita backlog. And that's not even including console games! Unless the game is ridiculously good, or one that I feel I have to play right now (which very few franchises will do), my rule says I can't buy new games unless I have no backlog. I went years without a backlog, until PS+ came along and ruined it initially, and then some PSP games I bought on PSN and saved for the Vita instead of my PSP joined in as well :(

No Heroes Allowed a PSP game? RPG? I might look into it actually if it's what i think it is.

Saying that I think I made a pretty lengthy post a couple of days ago recommending Virtue's Last Reward to everyone. And that every Vita (or PS3) owner should have Motorstorm RC. Hopefully that will cover me :P

Promote ZHP for me because I've never been top of the page. :p

Is it bad that I don't know what this is...

I've got a huge list of PSP games that are not in my backlog at the moment because I have not yet bought them. As soon as I first heard about the Vita, I stopped buying PSP games. I focused on finishing the ones I had already started (P3P, Ys OoF) and then my UMD games. the ones I'd bought on PSN i stopped playing in anticipation of playing on Vita. Still got the likes of VC2, 3rd Birthday, Ys Seven, FFT WotL and Dissidia 012 before I even consider buying any more PSP games...

Ugh. I forgot how shitty Combo is in Jet Set Radio. He's got to be the worst character in the series, and whoever added this big bumbling idiot to the game deserves to be shot multiple times with a rocket launcher. His dumbass makes playing almost unbearable. Just give me Beat and let me freeskate, I dont give a shit about recruiting all these shit characters for a team.

We are excited to be able to share the first official trailer for Let’s Fish! Hooked On with you today. With this video we hope to demonstrate how well-suited this game’s fun, arcade style is to PS Vita, whilst giving you more of a look at the variety of game play experiences you can expect from the first ever anime-styled fishing game.

We hope the video gives you a little insight to how Let’s Fish! Hooked On is different from other fishing games you may have seen. Fast, intuitive gameplay, a unique anime art style, and four challenging game modes (including a compelling story mode) are some of the reasons we believe this game can make fishing fun for everyone! We hope you agree.

As publishers, the team at Wired Productions are very proud to be bringing Let’s Fish! Hooked On to US gamers, via PlayStation Network – We’ll be announcing the release date and pricing details shortly – In the meantime, follow us on Facebook and on Twitter for all the latest game announcements, competitions and videos.

We hope you’ll be hooked! Thanks for your time. *Flips tail*

Can someone please explain this to me.

In settings I have everything ticked in auto-start settings, such as near, group messaging, update online status for playstation network etc

But whenever I turn on my vita, these things aren't running ( well the apps don't appear to be open)

How does this supposed to work?
When you turn on your Vita, those apps contact PSN to update. As long as you're on your network. You should get messages in the top right telling you "you have x amount of people/gifts available" or "you have pending messages" or "x is now online." They aren't actually on, they just pull info from PSN on boot.

How ridiculous is it that I'm looking forward to a fishing game.

:(

You noticed that there are only 9 species of fish? I still find that highly... ridiculous when considering Twilight Princess had 10 or Animal Crossing had over 60.

Alright, so the idea is that you dig into the earth and build your own cave, which is supposed to be inhabit by your own monsters. Monsters eat stuff from the walls, other monsters eat monsters that eat stuff from the walls, while other monsters have fun roasting monsters that eat monsters that eat stuff from the wall. You'll be tasked to balance the dungeon eco system in a way that will lead to stronger monsters (which need other monsters as food), while still taking care that the weakest monster wont die out completely. I think its a rather intriguing and interesting game aspect that manages to hit all the right notes for me.

No Heroes Allowed & What did I do to deserve this my Lord 2
Man. Where WDIDTDTDTDML 1 fails in motivating the player, these 2 follow up games start getting "gamey". They added some other elements that made it even more strategic (like under water creatures, more heroes, more hero abilities etc.) and one notable change is that your monsters now effectively change depending on how they are dying. If your monsters die from starvation, their "race" will adapt and get slightly different stats than when they die from being defeated by heroes for example. That is a really neat mechanic. Other improvements include a Badman room mode that allows to play around without time pressure and a proper "story mode" where you have challenges on a world map, which his definitely gives a better feeling of accomplishment than just a single row of challenges. The first game is definitely still worth it, but most players are probably fine with just buying No Heroes Allowed, since it has more content and is just the overall better balanced game. It even includes lower difficulty settings, which is very welcoming for new players. Other small improvements should be mentioned here too, like finally being able to see which monsters carry nutrients and a screenshot mode (!!!) (you know, the thing the Vita cant do on PSP games):

I didn't, that's where they hook ya, DLC Fish.

Sure, but.. I mean It'd be fine if the game is free and they live from the DLC, but I have a hard time justifying a (hypothetical) 10$ purchase if I need to buy DLC to actually get some fun out of the game. Skins for chess arent really necessary, but fish in a fishing game?

Could still turn out decent, but lets just say that my hype levels dropped immensely and I am very wary of this title.

Well I won't be picking it up for awhile. I'm currently working through a dedicated Backlogathon that started with the Vita purchase. So while I will be getting and playing through the PS+ titles that get put out, I won't be buying new games for a few months while I work through the considerable backlog of PC and Console games I have built up.

My first one is BitTripRunner. That first zone's last stage is stupid. Having a 5 minute level when you don't have any check pointing system is the most frustrating experience.

Where is Hulu Plus and Crackle on vita? It was announced at E3 2012. As a matter of fact, where is the rest of the apps in that pic? ESPN? That's not even on PS3 atm.

lol Crackle just launched on PS3 a few weeks ago despite an app existing on 360 for months, and Sony owning Crackle. The Vita version was actually announced at CES 2012 IIRC.

Just watch this trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wn6NYU7QeU

Just... watch it. The best description I heard so far was "SRPG Roguelike", and anything is better when mixed with roguelikes.

As much as I thought the trailer was pretty cool and well done, I was kinda put off by two words...

Grindfest and SRPG

I absolutely detest grinding in games. And I'm not normally a fan of SRPG's as well. It's why I've failed to get into the likes of Disgaea after many tries, and stuff like Fire Emblem. The only SRPG's i've ever managed to enjoy are Valkyria Chronicles and Valkyrie Profile: CotP, and they are really SRPG lite if you will. And I wouldn't have even tried the latter if it wasn't called 'Valkyrie Profile'. As for FFT WotL being in my backlog. I honestly don't anticipate liking it that much, but as a Final Fantasy fan (Favourite gaming franchise by some distance) I just had to try it, even if I may not like it.

Sorry! I might give it a shot once I've completely cleared my library of games, but even, but that would be ages later. PS4/720 will be out by then...

Lol, no need to say sorry. I need a grindfest in my life now, so that game will be very welcome once I can pick it up :) I can totally see how someone might not be in for that, especially when not liking SRPGs.

I guess No Heroes Allowed doesnt look too interesting to you either? (A few posts above)

Hey GAF, what's the cheapest the 32GB card has gone for? I've got the BF Amazon Vita bundle sitting pretty next to me right now, still sealed, but I can't bring myself to open it with the current memory prices.

I didn't buy it to flip, but I think I might sell it for a small profit until the storage comes down to a sane level (and maybe we'll have more games/homebrew options by then). Can't even hold all the PS+ games on the included card right now :|

in a real quantity that you could easily buy around $77 on amazon
actually gone for on amazon warehouse deals around $45 but good luck getting that as they sell out almost instantly when they pop up

We all know that the other Divisions/companies of Sony don't really give a fuck about PlayStation.

I posted this video few days ago

^Sony Electronics (who run this channel) didn't even bother to put or recommend PSVita as a holiday gift.

Am I crazy for thinking about keeping my second Vita for use with a US or JP account?

No less crazy than me thinking of acquiring a second Vita for the same purpose.

Quick check at Amazon tells me I got mine at $79.99 before promo certificate and rewards points. Demand is going to be up thanks to PS+ so I don't really see there being any incentive to drop memory prices right now.

No I'm very serious. I played it at Comic Con and it was the most amazing thing I played on a Vita.

I know its amazing. Im asking about the demo in december you spoke of. How do you know?

Also was it in english at comic con?

Dammit this is my most wanted game, its my reason for a vita.

Edit: saw your link, but cant help but feel they are referring to japanese version.

follow my link i posted. No it was in Japanese but the rep they had there guided me through the menus and character selection. there is a lot of customization and characters to choose from. you have the option to select male or female. different color costumes and different styles. there are a lot of powers to choose from and assign to the characters you can have 6 while playing. there is a power to heal you and those around you. after you die you can still play as a spirit and cause damage to enemies. its a very good game.

To be honest, not really. But that's more to do with me than anything else. Maybe be it's a mental thing, but whenever I see a grid layout of an SRPG, I immediately get put off. It's kinda like the same thing whenever I need to design my own character, the same happens in games like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Demons/Dark Souls and the like. The only one I remember playing is Mass Effect, and I used stock Shepherd.

I've tried several of those type of games in the past, but I can't get over my mental block. Covenant of the Plume was actually my first, and only due to it being a franchise I liked. I'm hoping Tactics will be the same. I even nearly gave up on a game I eventually found awesome in Trails in the Sky due to the grid system, but knowing it wasn't a SRPG helped.

As for Valkyria Chronicles, it was in 3D and had no grid mode :P

You realize its nothing like an SRPG, right? Its more an environmental dungeon simulator. Its not even turn based and has no grinding at all. You can only improve by learning the game mechanics. Did you read the description I posted?

Yeah the description sounded pretty decent, but then then I looked at the picture and saw what looked like a grid...

How is it in terms of narrative? I know for games gameplay is king, but I find a very rarely enjoy a game that doesn't have some sort of a decent story/characters. It's why I generally don't care for any Mario game bar TTYD which was awesome

I can't! I have to stay strong on my Backlog. I'll be picking it up sooooooon (read: A couple months).

Besides, I'm neck deep in the middle of a second playthrough of P3P...

:|

you are not buying and supporting a great game like P4G because you are suffering right now with that horrible abomination ripoff thingy?

man...dude..come on.

I'd say toss P3P into the trash and get P4G right now and never look back.
