Glad I wasnt the only one thinking itAre those sales numbers comparable to those of the COD franchise? Need to know if killing the multiplayer's identity was worth it.

yea but it still has different weapon starts, sprint, hit markers, and they die faster overall.it doesnt feel like halo. you still dont find weapons on the map too.
What has this got to do with Halo?

I think they are going to do a Halo 2 re-release for their next gen launch title.
Online is a laggy mess right now, its common to have matches interrupted by host switches.
when i found out that it sucked i didnt play it anymore, makes sense huh?im not the only one saying the game is trash, just look at this thread. The game is faster paced, more random (there are still power weapon pickups though), and the loadouts are similar to most modern military shooters, yes. Sorry if I don't believe that you have much experience with the game at all. Give me your gamertag and maybe I can check out your stats.
Call of Duty blows Halo out of the water in terms of sales.

lol @ people saying that these sales aren't good.
If these sales aren't good then console gaming is pretty much doomed.
How could people say Halo 4's sales @ 4 million in one month is low when the Christmas season hasn't even passed yet? It'll likely be 5.5-6 million before the end of the month.
Insightful as always Bgamer.
Thanks for saying it better than I could have!Only for context, though. One isn't really "better" than the other.
The difference is 'sell-in' and 'sell-thru' - what we call 'sales vs shipped,' are, in essence internally, still sales. "Sell-in" (i.e. shipped) is a completely valid sales number, as retailers are publishers "costumers," and in many cases, more important to bottom line, if you're a publisher.
The distinction does need to be made when comparing two sets of data though - you shouldn't compare success on sell-in on one game vs. sell-thru on another (Though there is benefits to doing that, and it's done often, but I guess it's not really relevant for Sales Age). But that doesn't mean you should ignore or dismiss sell-in as a whole.
343i definitely took some ideas from CoD, but H4 is still Halo, yes.
What would make it Call of Halo would be SWAT with ordinance drops.

Wow...the game is ruined because you can sprint and start out with different weapons? SMH.
So basically you want the same exact game as H1/2/3.
Maybe, if there were ordinance drops that did this:
Allowed you to be the gunner on a Pelican that flew around the map.
Fired railguns from space onto the entire map.
Unleashed tons of 1 hit kill crawlers.
Etc, etc, etc.
Shouldn't we wait to see what the legs are like on this thing before crying about it.
Well, it should, considering the number of platforms it is available on versus a console exclusive.
I knew that but was it worth changing the MP to go after cod?Call of Duty blows Halo out of the water in terms of sales.

Seems somewhat low, considering:
1. Installed base of 360 has increased substantially
2. It is the first numbered Halo since Halo 3
3. It is most probably going to be more front-loaded like almost all other major franchises released in recent times.

Yeah, I get that. The ordinance drops are different.
But I'm sure what the other guy meant was that you, the player, get rewarded (ie, ordinance drops) for killing people, which is what happens in CoD. Go on a tear in a match, and now you have Overshield, or whatever.
While indeed true, CoD still sells more on X360 than Halo does. It's also the #1 seller on PS3
EDIT: beaten
Sales don't work like that.Straight up numbers like 4 million don't mean a whole lot. The install base has grown since Reach, so it's not surprising to see that it exceeded Reach. What would help a lot is seeing now many people owned a 360 during the first month of Halo 3, Reach, and now Halo 4, and then compare the game units to the install base.

Lol at people saying 4 million copies one month is bad.
I think the changes to the multiplayer could have been actually very good it's just the game is clearly undercooked and some things can break the game pretty badly, somethings can be patched some things won't or can't but the matter is the game shipped like that. From terminal videos, which are like half of the story and you're lost without them, not being in the game and you have to stream them online in a waypoint app to all the other balance issues and other small things that gather up, missing features and modes and no beta, you can tell this game was rushed to hit the deadlines. It has probably affected everything in the game, even campaign feels rushed to me in some levels.
Let's hope next time they don't come out with Halo 5 in 2 years from now but 3 years instead and come with something fully developed, there are good ideas behind the game, it's quite enjoyable still but you can tell it's not what it could have been.
shinobi602 said:It's interesting you say that, because H4 has the longest development time of any Halo game (at least as long as H3). They started working on it back in 2009.
That's the conundrum Bungie and now 343i was/is in.
CoD is massively successful. Any smart FPS dev would be wise to copy, at least, some of the more-popular CoD features. That's smart business. But the dev would also need to keep the Halo identity.
So do they try to appeal to the CoD crowd, or the hardcore Halo crowd? Staying the same (like Halo 3) would lead to stagnation, however. Personally, H4 is the most CoD-like that I want 343i to go
Hm...seems like a drop compared to older 360 Halo games.
Looks like the call not to release in September and completely own that month to themselves was a bad call.
Still an amazing game though. Even the multi with all its issues is great.

Outside of huge Halo fans that hang out on forums and dissect every book, I've yet to meet anyone that liked or understood Halo 4's badly told story and is excited to see what happens next.Halo 5 will be even better for its second Christmas.
360 owners are tied into the new trilogy now, its not just 'the 720's trilogy'.
Might have been better having 2 like on Xbox; but we'll see.
