I'm trying to remember what there is at that point in the game that would give you an idea, if there is any.

Spoiler'd for Brad's sake:

I have no idea, because the way I remember it everything that matters about Mass Effect 3's ending comes up in the last ten minutes of the game, essentially.

I might not have picked up on it but for me,
the ending hit me like a sucker punch to the face.

I probably gave a little too much information in past posts. Nothing truly spoilery but hints to the reason why it was so awful for me.

I thought I knew the ending a few missions before the final, too. Turned out I didn't know shit and the writers decided to
make stuff up
instead. That's the kicker.

Just to note: I thought the
the Repear's were going to win and the cycle continues.
That would have been great.

they keep talking about the catalyst, which was a big arrrow that shepard was the one.
but no i dont hink there is any refreene to the star child

He doesn't know shit if he's at thessia. :P

he thinks shepard is the catalyst and is The One

lol,

Yeah, this is the only thing that makes sense to me.

It's funny because he's right before a cutscene that (ME3 ending spoilers)
was supposed to have the VI on Thessia revealing that Javik was the Catalyst, and Javik was supposed to get kidnapped by Cerberus, not the VI - before they rewrote the game to make Javik DLC and turn the Citadel into the Catalyst... or, er, the AI that lives inside the Citadel.

This series is madness.

WHATTTTT, that sounds way better than want they came up with. fucking EA man

What?! Wow... just, wow. So many ways they could have ended that game only to end it the way they did. Wow.

Doesn't matter. They're the exact same thing anyways lol

The Extended Cut at least makes more sense from an continuity perspective. You're not asking, "Wait what? Why are they there now? How do they know what's going on? What is this guy talking about? That's not how things work in Mass Effect, is he stupid or something?" nearly as much.

And Joker doesn't think that the Normandy is a car.

Is brad doing the extended ending? Coulda sworn he said he was deliberately not but I didn't pay attention since
He sounded sufficiently teed off about it that I don't think he's going to change his mind. He specifically wants to see what the big deal was and good on him.

I believe he is, but that doesn't really change the major complaint.

what is the major complaint, i dont think i ever rapped my head around why people hated the orignal ending.

i thought it was too abrupt and explained jack all about what happened.

edit: should be good now

The way it went down, I was very pleased with the game but I was aware of the ending backlash. I was expecting to be a little disappointed but I also thought the backlash was probably way overblown the way things are on the internet when negativity feeds on itself.

I neared the end of the game, for most part I was still loving the game, warts and all. Then, at the end of the final mission,
I mistakenly assumed a moment a few minutes before the absolute ending was the part everyone hated (The Illusive Man part). It was awkward and a little out of the blue but it wasn't a complete disaster. Then the elevator took me to the real ending and I simply could not believe what I was seeing. I was shocked and all I could think to do was immediately jump into the ending (hate) discussion thread, which I assumed I wasn't going to actually ever enter.

Ok, first of all, interesting typo.

Secondly,

It's the total Deus Ex Machina that involves machines killing intelligent life so that life doesn't create machines that will kill intelligent life. It's the boiling down of all of your choices to three endings that are pretty much the same, except for its color.

yeah he should really be finishing mass effect on a livestream. That should have been the live show today, infact.

what part made you in disbelief though. you needed to use the crucible to destroy(or control the reaper) was it the star child's half-assed explanation. or jus the fact it boiled down to choice a,b,c

edit: shit thought i put spoiler tags on, sorry

Again, seriously dude: Brad reads this thread. Way to throw around the spoilers.

And right after people all got upset that someone did the same thing with 999.

Yeah, I didn't go nuts during the ending or anything silly. I assume most people don't overreact, including Brad, so a live stream wouldn't do much. Mostly just, "huh this is weird," then a day later I decided it was an awkward mess.

yea im on my phone right now.

also i guess that will piss people off i liked the idea of the cycle but i guess it comes down to excutition the long run. but as to the second part they are 3 radically different choices (control, destroy, merge) i agree that the middle path is complete bull crap. in the end the reapers were going to be defeated or not so i guess expectations got out of hand.

Fuuuck, edit the other post too. Mods help us, do it for him, the fool is on a phone.

edit: Thank you. I retract my former statement. Phew. I just want Brad's honest reaction, I hope you understand.

No, remember that it has a delayed effect. Many people were ambivalent about it until they had time to think on what they had seen.

Yep. I remember having the same thought process. First I was like: what the hell was that? So it's kind of like these other sci fi series, I guess...? Then I watched all the other endings on youtube and started to think about it and realized that it was kind of crap. Then I started to think about all the repercussions, holes and needed to vent. I entered the thread, read a bunch of posts detailing exactly my experience and problems with it and whewed at the realization that other people found it exactly as terrible as I did.

Good times.
