Not sure if you guys are aware, or care, but remember the Giant Bomb guys showing off and talking about Johan Sebastian Joust? They did a couple of segments during the Big Live Live Show, and talked about it a couple of times on the Bombcast too, I think.

Anyway, important, awesome Kickstarter that could use some support, if anyone cares (please care).

In my opinion, Hokra might be the more awesome game. Local multiplayer, dudes!

Did brad ever explain why he still gave all 3 versions of Far Cry 3 5/5?

According to Jeff, current GB does have the ability to have multiple scores per version of a game.

Because the game is still worth playing even if you can only get the PS3 or 360 version.

Something other than a 5 means a game isn't worth playing?
That isn't what I said. I am just saying that what does the score matter if the reviewer thinks you should play the game no matter what? Does a 4 really mean that much fo you guys for the console versions?

Laziness? Maybe because Ubisoft can be dicks sometimes.

Giving the console versions lower scores might lead to bad consequences. They got to get that watchdogs interview come e3 time ya know?

Chalk it up to the busted gaming journalism system but be happy they were as honest as they were during the bombcast in mentioning the console versions issues.

That way everyone wins. Ubi gets a 100 on metacritic and I got to know not to buy Far Cry 3 and in the end all I care about is knowing if the game is worth my money or not. Could care less about the score even if in this case they both seem to be at odds.

Well, GB's Bayonetta reviews set a precedent for giving the technically fucked version(s) a lower score. Clearly, in breaking with stare decisis, Brad can only be labeled an activist reviewer.

People were talking about best TNTs.

Tony Hawk 3
Tony Hawk HD
WWE All Stars are all highly underrated TNTs.

I missed the earlier conversation, but my picks have always been Bad Company 2 (ATV, crashing helicopter) and Uncharted 2 (Vinny played).

It matters that Brad called the 360 version of FC 3 awful on the latest Bombcast. That seems like there should be some difference.

He also said the 360 version was basically broken.

He took that statement back and said it was playable once you got used to it, but since he was used to the PC version it really soured his experience with the 360 version.

Source? Are there games they've done that for?

no clue, i asked jeff on tumblr.

Aww man...I would have loved to have played Syndicate with Jeff.

::Sigh:: I should play through that game again. It was quite good.

I have to listen to the latest podcast. Did he really call it awful? Because if every console version was compared directly to the PC version, in the vast majority of cases, the PC version runs at more than twice the resolution and at least at double the frame rate. So when compared, the differences are typically not insignificant but, I always assumed what's considered technical acceptable on one platform isn't necessarily considered acceptable on another. As long as each version falls in line with its platform, separate reviews aren't neccesary. Now if a single version is a technical outlier, which the console version of Far Cry 3 may be if it was referred to as awful, then it makes sense.

just read farcry 3 spoilers. man that story could have gone places. it has such a strong story and falls off a cliff.

The story could suck and it would be totally okay if you actually felt your character change outside the main story quests. It is basically about someone transforming from a whiny rich white boy into a blood thirsty WAR-RI-A among natives with trials and shit, but there is no transformation outside those directed moments (even then...). A dude right out of a coffee shop acting like Rambo is more comical than anything else, thank god the game is First Person.

It should have leaned more on this direction. Playing on the spiritualism of the island. Embracing mans natural insticts to survive. But it seems to ignore it for the most part.

Reading the last few pages of this thread made me realise how many GAF-Favourites I still haven't finished or got.

Picked up 999 and Asura's Wrath the other day, still need to finish The Walking Dead and get Kid Icarus and Syndicate.

I feel worse about Syndicate since I've been meaning to get this since it came out.

Which Asura's Wrath DLC to get? I am so confused as to what each DLC does. Where's the ending at?

The one you want is Part IV Nirvana DLC. Make sure you play through the main game before buying just to be sure you enjoy it first, because it certainly isn't for everyone.

But if Asura's Wrath turns out to be your jam that DLC is pretty much the best thing.

What about the Lost Episodes and Episode 11.5/15.5? I have to agree that the DLC is pretty confusing.

Was that tweet the reason the true 999 ending is so mindblowing? Or just a small part?

Please seriously don't read this if you haven't finished 999. I really dislike the idea of spoilering it for people, even inadvertently.

Junk text to fill space Uh... both

Thanks for the advice, are those in-between chapters DLC unimportant?

Could the 999 talk maybe move to a 999 thread, for the sake of those of us who are still thinking of playing the damn thing? Thanks.

I haven't played them. I think the two .5 ones are just anime cutscenes with QTEs overlaid on them. So you could probably just watch those on Youtube and be okay. The other pack is the VS Street Fighter chapters. I haven't played those, but I think I've heard good things maybe?

The SF chapters are pretty cool, but they're pretty short too. You could probably just youtube them both if you aren't into spending the money on what is roughly an hours worth of QTE's.

I really wish Giantbomb did a series where they played through a game they know well just to hear their thoughts and stories concerning said game while also knowing how to fully play it.

As much as I enjoy watching TNTs where they go in fresh sometimes being totally familiar with the game first, raises the chance for more entertaining content in my opinion.
