NeoGAF Fantasy Football Paypal League(s) - Season 4

It was a beautiful dream, but my Economy League season dies tonight.

I thought I easily had one of the best drafts on draft day. I accomplished exactly what I set out to do. Of course, players you draft often don't pan out, and not being more active on the waiver wire killed me. I should have picked up replacements for Antonio Brown and Nate Washington early on, but in both cases I had a sort of attachment to getting draft day "steals". With Washington, it should have been obvious that last year was an outlier, and surely enough, his stats this year are right in line with his career averages aside from 2011. With Antonio Brown, I put too much stock in his preseason brilliance. I also should have replaced Jermichael Finley earlier.

Good luck in the next round, Ubertag.

Sinistar sure could have used some of David Wilson's 37+ points and counting this week. He can't score from his bench.

Frankman has already outplayed the #8 seeds from 2010 & 2011.

CURRENT LEAD FOR I'M DOIN IT LIKE ELI: 13.18 Points

Y! PROJECTED FINAL SCORE:

Long Island Broskis - 104.05
I'm Doin It Like Eli - 103.77

Going to be another close one.

The NeoGAF Yahoo! Fantasy Football OT!! Yahoo! still might have all that money to make their fancy stats, but I'll beat them to the punch! With two football games left and alot of people needing some clutch play to continue their playoff run, time to recap all of today's action.

Code:
[b]FPL-Defending Champs[/B] - 41.70
[B]New Orleans Phoenix[/B] - 62.14

FPL has been powered by RGIII all year, but got DeMarco Murray back last week; he responded this week with 13.5 points. Scott Chandler in a TD-less effort also put up 7.1 points, but the story is RGIII leaving early after taking this vicious hit. He had 15.74 before then. NOP had Cam Newton just doing work, putting up 36.58 (more than half his teams total). Lawrence Tynes is the only other player on his team doing anything with 9 points...

Prediction: Both teams have 3 players left, FPL with Andre 3000/JerMichael Finley/Stephen Gostkowski, and NOP with Wes Welker/Joique Bell/Packers D (wat?). FPL should come back and make it close but that deficit should be too much to overcome. New Orleans Phoenix will advance.

Code:
[B]Hookers And Blow[/B] - 117.60
[B]Sinistar[/B] - 81.74

Sinistar came out with his guys on fire, getting 19.1 and 16.4 from The Mac and VJax. Kinda quiet day for Fatty with 15.86, but on a normal week his squad would be in prime position to advance... however

If you're facing a D that scores 41 points, see you next year. If you're facing a team with Anquan Boldin putting up 20 and BJGE actually having a 10+ output, you'd be hardpressed to win. If you're facing Adrian Peterson, see you next year. If you're facing a team with all 4 players on one roster... fuck. Just insane numbers for HAB.

Prediction: Mikel Leshoure (S) vs. Aaron Rodgers (HAB)? Hookers and Blow wins.

Code:
[B]I'm Doin It Like Eli - 97.06[/B]
[B]Long Island Broskis[/B] - 83.88

LIB had a monstrous game by Knowshon Moreno on Thursday while IDILE sputterd with Janikowski, putting IDILE behinf 22.7-1. After making some "suprising" moves, LIB got a balanced attack as Andrew Hawkins (10.4) and Kenny Britt (14.3) paid dividends to go with Matty Ice's 19.68. IDILE got back into the contest with a a huge effort from DX (20.8) and got 19.6 from the underutilized Ray Rice. The 52-27 shootout that was the Saints-Giants game gave IDILE a combined 43.73 from Eli Manning/Victor Cruz/Lance Moore, helping him to take a late lead.

Predicton: IDLE has Owen Daniels on MNF while LIB needs a big effort by Randall Cobb tonight in the snow and Shayne Graham on MNF. Unless Cobb puts up a 12+ effort tonight I'm Doing It Like Eli should pull it off.

Code:
[B]Bail Kings (NeoGAF) - 51.60[/B]
[B]Dinner Out - 78.96[/B]

BK got 8.6 points fror DeMaryrius Thomas on Thursday and a big game out of Alfred Morris (16.2), and decent production afterwards from Josh Gordon and Buccaneers D (8.6 and 8 points), sending Dinner Out into a worry fit according to Cloudy. It was exacerbated with the Falcons D getting a zero, Kyle Rudolph getting .03 and Torrey Smith 2.1 points; that would usually doom most teams. However just a pathetic effort by the Cardinals allowed Marshawn Lynce to get 30.8 points and give him a sizable lead, and also according to Cloudy DO "is back to talking smack".

Prediction: BK has Greg Jennins and Tom Brady left, while DO has Aaron Hernandez. It's possible for BK to come back but we'd need to see the Jennings of old AND Brady to score a ton without getting Hernandez any TDs. I'm strongly leaning towards Dinner Out to win, but he'll have some heart attack moments Monday Night.

And that's all the time we have this week, of all of those who participated it was great chatting with you in the chat. Keep posting in the thread win or lose and see you next time on the playoff version of The NeoGAF Yahoo! Fantasy Football OT!!

OWEN DANIELS vs. SHAYNE GRAHAM - Weeks 1-13

Week 1 - 10.5 vs. 8.7 {GRAHAM}
Week 2 - 9 vs. 4.7 {GRAHAM}
Week 3 - 8.6 vs. 7 {DANIELS}
Week 4 - 13.2 vs. 8 {DANIELS}
Week 5 - 13.9 vs. 9 {DANIELS}
Week 6 - 7 vs. 4.6 {GRAHAM}
Week 7 - 11.9 vs. 10 {DANIELS}
Week 9 - 12.2 vs. 2 {DANIELS}
Week 11 - 9.5 vs. 5.7 {GRAHAM}
Week 12 - 9.5 vs. 8 {GRAHAM}
Week 13 - 7 vs. 4.3 {GRAHAM}

Graham has outscored Daniels 6 out of 11 games this season (including the past 3 straight). That would be the same result factoring in the 0.58 point edge the Broskis currently have over Team Eli. Pretty much a wash.

The Patriots are the 3rd most forgiving fantasy team to opposing Tight Ends this season.
They've been predominantly gashed by Scott Chandler and Dustin Keller across multiple games... two TEs that play for run-based teams with easily isolated WR threats.
The Texans are a much more efficient variant of those two offensive systems.

I'd bet pretty good money on Daniels coming through for Frankman tomorrow night and sending the Broskis to an early exit and a 4th consecutive defeat to his team. But we'll have to wait until tomorrow night to find out.

I'm being done in by all of the Grahams this week.
Jimmy barely catches anything.
Now Garrett Graham is not playing tonight for the Texans ensuring all of the Tight End love goes Owen's way.

Hopefully Shayne Graham can kick enough points to make up the difference. I'm giving Frankman 2:1 odds to win tonight's showdown.

I wonder if Chan Gailey has a Graham somewhere in his name.

Here are some amusing articles accounting for how Gailey sank both my fantasy team and my Buffalo Bills season in one fell swoop...

Chan Gailey prematurely eliminates Bills from the playoff race
Breaking Down Chan Gailey's Worst Coaching Decisions of the 2012 Season
C.J. Spiller doesn't understand Chan Gailey's 'winded' comments

Hey, that last one is written by Tim Graham. How apropos.

Considering I have Daniels, I think you'll understand it if I say I hope Hernandez scores 20+ tonight.
Hernandez is making a good run at that mark.

I'm not thrilled by the Texans D coughing up 3 quick touchdowns. Will make them less inclined to go for field goals. I'd give you a 90% chance of taking this home now. I'm pretty much hoping that they bench Daniels early to rest up with the game out of reach.

I'M DOIN IT LIKE ELI 98.36
LONG ISLAND BROSKIS 97.64

I think Janikowski's 1-point effort as a kicker on Thursday might still outpace Graham this week.

I'M DOIN IT LIKE ELI 99.46
LONG ISLAND BROSKIS 97.64

Unlike Palmer, Schaub doesn't know how to engineer garbage time scoring drives.

Well a Foster TD got Shayne Graham on the board, Schaub continues to not see Owen Daniels pretty open at times. Getting more nervous now.
Well, the backups are in so I wouldn't count on anything more from Daniels.
Lucky for you the Pats haven't pulled their first-string defensive unit and T.J. Yates / Ben Tate both suck so I wouldn't count on any drives being sustained.

Really, the only risk is if the Pats cough up a sloppy turnover and the Houston defense takes it to the house.
If that doesn't happen you should be golden. This current Pats drive should eat up the rest of the clock.

I don't think I've ever seen someone win a playoff-clinching game and then their first playoff game back-to-back by less than a single point before.
Talk about clutch performances.

EDIT: Wow, turnover deep in Pats territory. What the hell just happened?!?

DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER YATES!

Tough game, all I have to wait for is a possible stat correction. However kinda unlikely it takes a day or two... that's the kind of luck it takes to win a league right there.

Hey Alex! Coming through with the ASSHOLE POST. That's my bitch there, guys!!!

Good game, Frankman.

Whether adjustments change things up or not, our matchup this week has already gone down as the closest in No Quitters league playoff history.

Tentative No Quitters 4 Semi-Final Matchups

(1) Long Island Broskis
(4) New Orleans Phoenix

(2) Dinner Out
(6) Hookers And Blow

Tentative NeoGAF Economy League Semi-Final Matchups

(1) Locker2SB
(5) Long Island Broskis

(2) Knights of Mars
(3) The Book of Eli

We may get to dance one final time this season in the Economy League finals if we both pull off upsets next weekend. Best of luck!

Good game, Frankman.

Least differential in a loss in regular season NQ4 history and now possibly also in NQ4 playoff history. If it happens another record I want no part of.

Well definitely wanted a thrilling outcome, I stand by my statement that whoever won the matchup is going to the Finals. Like I said last week, nothing to do but wait for the end and remember the beginning.

I'm taking nothing for granted. I scraped my way into the money round with a narrow win last year and my entire team promptly tanked in the semis when FPL put up a very beatable total.

I would LOVE to take on Dinner Out in the finals and get another losing streak off my back. Still have some work to do to get there. Cam Newton is probably the hottest player in fantasy right now. I'm just glad I get to face him when he's teeing off on the Chargers at home and not grilling the hapless Raiders rush defense at home in Week 15.

The Broskis have discovered a new team mascot. We've had a vacancy ever since dealing the Muscle Hamster away.
I am totally picking him up off the wire and giving him a bench spot as a good luck charm in Week 16 if I get that far.

Nobody throws interceptions and takes a knee quite like the Dumb Thug, Ryan Mallett! Honorary Broski!

Yahoo's got me matched up with the lowest surviving seed in Azwethinkweiz.

That's rather unexpected... and completely different than what happened in 2010 when the #1 seed faced the #5 seed, Whizzinators, and not the #6 seed, Bail Kings, in the semi-finals.

I suppose playoff reseeding wasn't turned on that year. Was kind of hoping to avoid him until Week 16. Ah well...

Description

This article explains the playoff seeding options that are available in Yahoo! Fantasy Sports leagues.

Resolution

If your Head-to-Head league uses divisions, you can choose how teams are seeded for the playoffs using these three options:

Division winners advance and are assigned top seeds: The winners of each division will advance to the playoffs as the top seeds, and the overall top division winner will be the #1 seed. All other playoff teams will be determined by overall standings regardless of division results.
Division winners advance but are seeded according to overall standings: The winners of each division will advance to the playoffs, and all other playoff teams will be determined by overall standings. All playoff seeds will be determined by overall standings, regardless of division results.
All teams seeded according to overall standings: All playoff seeds will be determined by overall standings, regardless of division results.

If your league does not use divisions, teams will be seeded according to the overall standings.

We have no divisions so I guess they added re-seeding into their algorithm at some point. I think this is quite fair though. Unfortunately for you, H&B is the tougher potential matchup

So I just transferred some money to my paypal account to get the balance over what I need to do the payouts. With this amount of money, we're going to have to figure out a better way to manage things next season if Yahoo's not hosting private money leagues. Maybe me and Moogle hold half the payments each? A third commish and 3 folks handling it? Or is there some kind of free/cheap escrow service we can use?

What if something happened to me before payouts and I didn't respond. I'd hate for GAF to think I was a scammer LOL (Yes, I'm paranoid!)

Im in the semi finals for my league. Im pretty happy with the team i drafted, and havent made any changes to it, this has been my starting team since week 1. I was the 12th and final pick of the draft. 250$ buy in. (other than switching out defenses and players to accomodate bye weeks)
QB: Freeman
WR: Brandon Marshall
WR: Brandon Lloyd
RB: Jamaal Charles
RB: Doug Martin
RB: Demarco Murry
TE: Owen Daniels
Defense: Houston, Jets
K: Shayne Graham

That's an understatement. Not only does Hookers And Blow have insane momentum (averaging 121.83 points over the past 2 weeks) but with his big win on Sunday has now eclipsed my team for total points scored this season.

For all intents and purposes, I'm a top-seeded underdog with lower waiver priority than my favored opponent. It's going to take an awful lot to take Azwethinkweiz down and make the No Quitters finals. We have yet to face each other this season although I did manage to narrowly edge him out by a score of 82.3 to 81.98 in Week 12 of last season to clinch the playoffs.

The stage seems to be setting up nicely for a rematch of NQ1's top two teams. Dinner Out and Hookers And Blow tangled in the very first and CLOSEST league finals ever with Dinner Out narrowly edging Azwethinkweiz out for the title. No doubt he'll be extra-motivated against me this weekend in the hopes of avenging that loss from 3 years ago.

Dinner Out may well be cut out for the No Quitters hall-of-fame. This is his 3rd trip to the semi-finals in 4 seasons... albeit this would clearly be his most underachieving team of the three. Winning ugly still counts in fantasy football, though.

I remember that finals. It came down to the last game of the week. I had Adrian Peterson left, who I had been riding all season. The game goes into overtime with me down by 2 points. AP runs to the right for 20+ yards (OMGYES!) then fumbles (WHAT!?!?!NO!!!!!). Green Bay recovered and kicked a field goal to win the game. So close, yet so far away. That was heartbreaking.

Welcome to my world the last 4 years.

... How did you last the season with Brandon Lloyd and Justin Blackmon?

Actually I don't know the league rules, but a 12-teamer is easier to sub in talent.

beucase my other guys put up a ton of points. i ended up leading my league in points by about. 4 of my first 5 picks were RB so by the time i was ready to start picking other spots there wasnt much on the board. i got lucky with marshall dropping to the 6 the round or so. And lloyd was my last pick.

Lost in both leagues. I hate you all.

That being said, I can't believe I even made the playoffs considering how often I rolled out Bilal Powell and how I basically kept Greg Jennings in carbonite. What a mess of a season.

Puddles got himself banned. Wonder what he did to bring that on.

I've got a fantasy question to throw out there for you guys...

Should I roll Andrew Hawkins back out in my WR3/TE FLEX spot for the 2nd straight week on a short rest against Philly's non-existent defense?
Or should I reserve that spot for Kenny Britt who dances with Cromartie and the Jets on Monday night after 3 straight weeks with either 100 yards or a TD?

I'm leaning Hawkins right now because I don't want my fantasy season to hinge on Britt of all people.
