Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

Totally disagree! The best Superman stories are the ones that focus less on the Super parts and more on the actual Man.

I agree. It's kinda hard to care about Superman given that he's pretty much perfect and invulnerable. Building up a more realistic world and characters, will be essential to reaching a wider audience.

Sure a lighthearted action fest a la Avengers can be fun, but compared to Superman the Marvel heroes are more far more human and imperfect. I know that i wouldnt care about a Superman movie that's basically a DBZ episode / Neo in Matrix Revolutions...

This looks like one of the worst things I've ever seen

The true failure of both trailers is not to feature the villain in any meaningful way (one clear shot, no line of dialogue?), and I think I've pinpointed that as the reason both trailers did nothing for me, even considering Zack Snyder. You need to establish the villain almost equally, even in trailers, because he should be almost as interesting and important in the movie, and because these movies basically boil down to 1v1 grudge matches. Nolan's Batman movies did this well, even in marketing (trailers, the Joker billboards, the Batman/Bane Vs screen billboards), and it's something they've gotten wrong with Superman the last couple of times. Again it's "Oh cool, it's Superman and..no one else of note, I guess?" and it's one of the reasons I think Superman gets a pretty tepid response these days - no villains [that are featured]. The very first teaser should have already established Zod as a meaningful presence, don't care that you're re-introducing Superman. You've rebooted him twice and everyone knows who he is, stop wasting people's time with intros and school buses.

Yeah I liked TDKR's score over TDK's as well. The official release soundtrack wasn't too good, but the extended tracks / full score are pretty great.

BB had the right mix of JNH and Zimmer.

Can't think of a lot of recent superhero origin films that have focused on the villain. They usually leave that for the sequel.

Movie doesn't come out for 6+ months. I think they're going the right way about it. Zod will be a heavier presence leading up to release.

The movie isn't out for over half a year. They'll be plenty of time to highlight Zod- I mean, man, we JUST got to see how he looks in the suit for crying out loud.

This movie absolutely needs to focus on reintroducing the character. It's irrefutable.

This isn't about establishing a villain, this is about reintroducing to the masses a superhero that has been heavily mistreated in cinema for 30 years. We'll get a story-heavy trailer later, as is the norm.

I have a feeling Superman's becoming will more important in this film. Though I'm hoping in future trailers they will have more of Zod. I believe his armor is CGI so maybe they are still working on it and don't want to release it before the final product?

I know Zod will be featured more, I said I think he should have been featured from the start. All the energy put into, again, the origins and Superman flying in the sky by himself is just yawn-inducing, because I've seen it enough. And so have most people.

Two trailers and I'm still flaccid, so I don't know about that. And I'm a fan of this character and his villains.

The way Elfman's score slowly rises I imagine Batman slowly coming out of a dark alleyway, sneaking around or watching the streets below and so on. It just 'feels' like the character. The only reason I associate Zimmer's score with Batman is because the movies were really good and hugely successful.

I think because Batman is brooding, introspective, thoughtful world's greatest detective etc. the score should be a slow, dark, careful build up. With Zimmer it's DUN DUN in your FUCKING face BITCH gonna PUNCH you while i ROLL UP ON MY MOTOR BIKE. Like it's fun but I don't feel Batman. Elfman got Spiderman perfect too imo.

Did you watch the movies or just listen to the score? ;) I dont really remember Nolan's Batman doing the stuff either. Zimmer's score fits perfect with the films and that's all that matters, i'd even say his score is one of the main reasons the films are as good and succesful as they are.

The buzz about the trailer today certainly says otherwise.

Yeah, its just the first full trailer. There's still the second to come plus the international versions and dozens of tv spots plus the actual marketing.

My hope is that they make a much bigger deal about his first time flying. I've always imagined that the moment he begins to float off the ground as the moment he ascends into this status of being a god among men. I would love to see that built into a defining scene for the character.

This is the first origin on the big screen since story since the Donner film... it's absolutely necessary to do a thorough job on the origins, especially seeing that this is a different take than most people are accustomed to.

I personally love origin stories... I get it if they are too close together (Spiderman and The Amazing Spiderman) but otherwise I don't get the hate.

Superman is all about his origin... the whole kryptonian alien stuff he has going is probably the most interesting thing about him. And Ma and Pa Kent are the best.

Its absolutely fucking hilarious that the best "holy shit Clark flew!" moment is from Smallville.

Fucking Smallville!

I like some of the action bits. I'm a bit torn. I sort of want a more serious Superman movie but I also feel like some of the fun is missing.

Anyways. Anyone got a handle on the track that's playing? Is it some Two steps from Hell stuff or is that music form the flick?

I believe that moment is in the trailer.
