Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

I am actually not THAT passionate about Blobs. Carl is, though. Its a great game, but I'd take Motorstorm RC or Sound Shapes over it.

I just finished that game. It's ok but it's really nothing special compared to so many other downloadable games of that size. I kind of like Motorstorm more too.

I would have purchased so much Japanese Vita content by now if I could play it on my US account like PS3.

Alas.
Sony should have made switching accounts easier

That reminds me...has there been any update about multiple accounts or something? Some way of having all region Vita content on one account's trophy list ultimately.

I'd want to hear this asked the right way to Shuhei Yoshida (yosp on Twitter as you all know) and hear the "official" current response.

Somehow I have a sneaking feeling SCEJ wants it this way, that they don't want their content being accessed by out-of-Japan territories as the ultimate reason. The update that further gimped account switching just may prove that.

US, EU and JP all have exclusive games and apps now. It's getting out of hand. Every other week it seems there's a piece of content that's only available in one region. It's no longer just East and West. Each region branch of SCE is divided and now we're feeling their lack of communication the hard way.
Come on now.

I was never one to sit there and beg for content that's been available in another region. I'd do the smart thing and import (physically and "digitally") what I crave that wasn't available in my region. And that was a lot. I don't care about each SCE region branch stressing out and releasing in all regions. Let them do what they do for the release schedules and lack of worldwide releases, but let me access the content.

I was fine with how it was on PS3 because I could access everything. But now we can't access things if it's not our region.

Soul Sacrifice with tons of DLC will save us all

ive been waiting for a Japanese PSN code since last night switching fucking sucks with one memory card.

And that's another thing. DLC. It's not just games and apps we have no way of utilizing on our main account. Soul Sacrifice is a Japanese developed game. How do you know they won't be nice and give DLC to Japan that won't be released in US or EU?

There's games like Ragnarok Odyssey and Orgarhythm that have DLC that's in the Japan PS Store but will never be coming to US or EU.
Same for the upcoming Let's Fish: Hooked On (Let's Try Bass Fishing FISH ON NEXT in Japan). Lots of DLC released for Japan but either no plans or never coming for the US and EU releases.
So what, we just sit here and miss out on content?

And about the code thing. Let me guess, you ordered from Play-Asia? They used to be almost instant with the codes, but now there's a 1-2 week wait time whenever I look.
I recommend www.japan-codes.com
Code emailed within hours or less.
The other alternative is Ebay sellers, but you need to know which ones will send code via email and not physically ship them. If you want to wait awhile for it to ship from Asia and want the code cards to add to your collection of goods, then by all means though.

I don't remember ever using kicks but you def need to boost while falling (pressing X I think)

That level in particular you do need to use gravity kicks. Reading the description box tells you it gives you a boost in that particular challenge. Boosting while falling gave me some time above 4 minutes, kicking gave me the 3'36".

I liked MBA, but it's nowhere close to my favorite Vita game.

In particular order:

1. Gravity Rush
2. Persona 4 Golden
3. LittleBigPlanet Vita
4. Virtue's Last Reward
5. Ragnarok Odyssey

Honorary Mention: Dokuro

I sometimes wonder if my heart can handle Derrick, Takao and Totobeni being regulars in the same thread.

One of these is not like the others.

I think we were only talking about PSN only titles ;)

One of these is not like the others.

I sold RO to gamestop for 20 this week. I wanted to love it but I couldn't stand the gameplay design near the end. Maybe it would be different if I played multiplayer.

my favorite Vita games are

1) VLR
2) P4G
3) GR
3) UMVC3
3) MGS HD

Backlash? The only result of a Vita platform reveal would be new Vita owners, however many that may be. If this actually is a Vita game, then it's really smart. Get everyone hyped for a brand new Metal Gear, then reveal the platform it's on. You think the Western media sites would be gushing and speculating and attempting to dissect the trailer on this as much or at all if it was announced as Vita from the get-go? No platform distinction lets the hype build wildly and it will be on everyone's radar.

If people want to play it, they'll buy the Vita. Think of it as a wake-up call to many dismissing an entire platform.

Moby Dick Studio's website clearly shows PS3 and 360 platform logos and nothing at all involving the Vita. To turn around and put it on that platform and not the others would be misleading and almost surely cause a backlash, yes. People may buy it still, but it's not a business strategy that I can imagine any publisher would go for.

You mean like... telling everyone that their favourite character is the main char in a game, getting them to buy the game only for them to find out that you only play the intro with said character?

Not saying this is a sound strategy, but this is... Kojima after all.

ordered from Play Asia last night then got email today telling me they were out of stock so I canceled my order and got from Japan Codes now I'm waiting for them. Suuuucks

I really hope you're joking; it's not coming on the Vita, dude.

Yes, yes. I know. I was more referring to "insane" PR stunts, and saying that IF there is one person in the videogame business who would do something like that... its Kojima.

Not saying I believe that its the case here though.

So I guess NISA decided to axe the sale for ZHP? Kinda lame since that was the only sale item I was waiting on.

Apparently last weeks sale is still on... Could mean that someone simply forgot to switch out the sale items. Asked in the NISA forums about that, I'll let you guys know.

Playable characters and console platforms are completely different things though and the industry itself is a different place than it was 11 years ago. Get realistic here people.

If you don't mind waiting a bit, I can always help a fellow gaffer out. I've been picking up PSN cards for users here for a long time.

I really hope they make switching accounts easier. I have plus on my US account and would love to access those free games more easily. At the moment, I can't really be bothered with it. I'm a busy person and I get enough play time with Picotto Knights, Samurai & Dragons, P4G, and Ys.

If it's anything like Really Big Sky it'll be great.

Wait, I though you didn't play on PC?

I am kinda regretting buying Big Sky Infinity over Retro City Rampage, but I can wait until that goes free on Plus.

Now for the nitpicks/pros:

-Do yourselves a favor and turn off the narrator, It's just as bad as he was on RBS.
-30fps is understandable on Vita, but on PS3 too!? moving the ship feels very sluggish compared to RBS, I actually have to time my movements a bit earlier to avoid enemy fire.
-The title screen music sounds odd on Vita, like it's pitched lower or something.
+I got a trophy on Vita, the game autosaved and synced to the cloud, booted it on PS3, instant trophy, weee!
+Asynchronous play (Horse) sounds interesting! you guys can add me to give it a spin sometime: Wonko_PS

I sometimes wonder if my heart can handle Derrick, Takao and Totobeni being regulars in the same thread.

:D

Hey at least I'm looking forward to playing a lot of games on here. Can't guarantee I'll like them but I'm keeping an open mind and playing stuff I wouldn't play on consoles/PC.

Retro City Rampage is rather unfun, imo. I was really excited for that game and ended up bored and annoyed by it :/

Surge (By FuturLab is out now on PSMobile)

Also, something else i can't be arsed to type.

Thanks, impressions coming up tomorrow if I fall asleep while turning on my Vita now.

if any of you have taken up the Music Unlimited subscription, there's an update on the Vita (if you haven't taken it up, hurry up! $12 for a year's subscription, doesn't last much longer).

Update:

-Number of songs you can store offline increased to 4000 (from 1000)
-You can now adjust volume while using other apps (while in offline mode) by holding the PS button

A small update, but a good one!

Is there a way to preview the music/catalogue on Unlimited?

Since I love you guys, any of my Vitabros or Vitamuffins want a copy of Don't Starve on Steam?

Have an extra key, and it's a fun little survival game that's still getting regular content updates.

First reply gets it.

Me?

Shit guys, Surge is SO MUCH FUN

OH GOD.

THIS SHIT IS AMAZING.

If there ever was a moment where I needed an all encompassing hyberbole, it would be NOW.

OH GOD.

All kidding aside, on the surface MBA can be seen as just another indie 2D platformer, but I think what makes it so special is that it's like the developers mastered the perfect recipe of great control, a cool art style, fantastic music, ingenious level design and a quirky sense of humor. Some games get a couple of those things right, but few get them all right. I think MBA is one of those rare games that gets them all right.

I read that title as Shiro-kuro harakiri tsukeru kuma and thought it was about bears commiting seppuku. o_O

And the music is fucking amazing. Just buy it, people.

If there is no OT until tomorrow, I'll make it. This is DEFINITELY among the best digital only titles for Vita atm.
