Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Just played Blazblue......Damn this game is beautiful on the vita! It literally looks identical to the PS3 version, but on a smaller screen. I can actually control much better in this game than in marvel to boot so thats also a definite plus. It's still gonna take a long time before I can get used to the dpad, but it will be a fun ride.

Hopefully Chrono Phantasma releases to the Vita and it has cross play. *fingers crossed*

P4G tomorrow :D

I might get P3P too!

Recommendation of the thread: Buy Blazblue!

damn lol, Surge looks like something I'd like. I only have $2.80 or so in my wallet though, and don't feel like adding 5 bucks just to spend 50 cents.

You guys have no idea how often the $5 minimum has stopped me from buying a game I otherwise would have.

I remember when I could walk into some random shady store in the Bronx and get brand new, boxed versions of Japanese GBA games like Final Fight before they came out in the US. No fuss, no memory card swapping - just pure pop in and play goodness.

Such a wonderful, nostalgic feeling...
Uhh... you can do that on Vita too... Well, not sure about you walking in to that same store, but you can just as well buy a Japanese copy of any Vita game and have no problem or the need to do any extra work to play it on Vita.

It's not like it's the last psn game you'll ever buy... they don't eat or destroy the remaining amount, it will be there when you need it in the future. and it's not like you have a perfect 0.00 balance right now.

I'm not claiming it's entirely rational, but I don't really feel comfortable adding $5 and leaving $4.50 in my wallet. That's the kind of stupid thing which ticks me off. I'll probably buy Surge, but it'll have to wait until I happen to have enough funds on hand, and it's anyone's guess when that'll be.

If there's some good sales next week on games I want, it may be quite soon.

Hit me up for games if you see me online! I don't wanna play the PS3 one so I can unlearn Extend's Lambda, but I've got no problem playing on my Vita where we're both terrible. >:O

I've got two more blazblue questions for you guys... I have been playing on stylish for the psp version... I will be sticking with that as I am to lazy to learn real combos.

My friend who plays a number of fighting games (he owns multiple fight sticks) is interested in the game. I can only assume he will avoid the stylish mode and go with the technical mode. How well does blazblue play compared to games like tekken tag team or super street fighter, and if we are both about average fighters will me playing stylish and him playing technical actually mesh up ok or does one have a distinct advantage over the other if you both know what you are doing?

what's everyone take on RO btw. is the Mercenary Edition well worth the money?

Ok game for multiplayer. Solo gets really annoying near the end. I sold it to gamestop for 20 and kept the merc gear. Money better spent on VLR, P4G, Sine Mora, MGS:HD, PS1 RPGS, PSP RPGS etc.

If you both know what you're doing, then I think technical has a slight edge since there's more options. If you're both "average" and don;t have a complete grasp of your characters/opponents moveset, then stylish probably has an advantage. Blazblue is very combo-based, especially when compared with Street Fighter.

On a side note, I tried Blazblue again recently and my Hazama has gotten from bad to terrible. Noi could probably beat me into next week by mashing drive with Lambda.

Also, how's Big Sky Infinity, Vitabros?

Can I ask why is Goku's Japanese VA pretty much the worst VA in the Universe? My dear Beelzebub, my ears just died a little having to listen to him.

Goku's voice actress has played the character since he was a wee little Goku in the beginning of the series. It was the director's call to keep her for Goku's voice after the time skip as an attempt to keep the innocence of Goku intact, and to show that while Goku has grown smarter he was still the same country bumpkin all those years ago.

Trust me, i get it. I'm a bit similar about it, and for me the fact that i already have something in my wallet usually balances the 'pain' of adding more than i need out. The extra amount is usually there just because I'm too eager to buy some dlc and just overlook the fact that buying it on its own will ruin my zen.

if you both know what youre doing technical should always win. if youre both average(i assume you mean he doesnt know any combos to use consistently in a match) then its a wash or you have an advantage

Quite a few new VITA ports were announced recently, mah fave 5 VITA games in descending order:

-Uncharted:Golden Abyss
-Assassin's Creed III:Liberation
-Resistance:Burning Skies
-Gravity Rush
-Little Big Planet PS VITA

Twas a horrible call by the director, should have recasted with a man and just found someone that fit that innocence.

luckily for me since it's a new movie odds are the japanese release of it to dvd and the english release will be at most 2-3 months apart so the wait won't be to bad so I can watch the movie with decent voices. In general I don't care to much between sub or dub... but adult goku is one of those voices I just out right can't remotely stand. If goku wasn't the main character I could deal, but since he is I will wait it out. The only time i watch Japanese DBZ is when I have no other choice.

I do wonder if there will be any vita tie in games with the movie, doubtful, I would figure they will just make another fighting game and add the movie chapter in with the characters. Oh how do I yearn for an Action RPG Dragon ball game that covers everything from goku being a kid to the end of the manga... It could be released like the original .hack series in 4 parts, and if done well I would happily buy each part day 1.

Eh. I suggest people to try the game first whether they like it or not. It's certainly not a street fighter and rather hard to get into.

personally I have found blazblue about a million times easier to get into than street fighter. If I was using technical that might not be the case but with stylish it's a breeze to pick up and play almost any character and rack up combos. Plus all of the extra modes... how bare bones super street fighter 4 was, was a huge turn off for me. I like my extra random modes that change things up.

How's Ragnarok Odyssey? Always loved the visual style of these types of games so I'm considering picking it up.

there's a demo. I haven't played the main game but the gameplay in the demo was ok, though I wanted the people at the start of them demo to just STFU.... they talked way to much for me to remotely care ^^;

It's kinda like PSO2 except not as good.

but alas only one of the games is out on the vita at this point. Standards for first year games are a bit lower than games that come out after that year one mark.

alight if you have friends, otherwise solo is annoying as hell late game.

For 20 bucks its a solid game. Anymore is just "ehhhhhh". Better money spent on better games.

Does matchmaking work well? Probably won't have many friends who play this and I hate trying to schedule play sessions with random people from forums.

no idea. Don't have wifi.

I've only experience the single player aspect of this game, and whoa boy. I wanted to love this game but there were things that made me go "Why? just why?!?" The same things could be alleviated with more people most definitely.

What is it exactly? Looks like an 8 bit shooter.

Yes, it is. Extremely tight. Extremely fast. Extremely fair. Extremely addictive.
In my own rankings, it is the best bite-size game ever (vita version, because with touch controls i played it for 3 minutes).
Your scores will be extremely low during the first games. A game can take like 10 seconds then. When you start doing better, you unlock weapons, scenarios (3) and difficulty levels.
SMFT difficulty is where the game shines.

I am the same as the poster above. The £5 minimum is going to stop me buying Surge for the moment. I'll wait now until there is something else I want, so I am only spending out for what I want, rather than leaving cash sitting there, especially as I had already had to do £5 to buy Uncharted FFF for £3.19, to then have to do so again, for another game is annoying. So in essence, £6.50 worth of games at max, is costing me £10 from my bank.

I know it is idiotic, but I think having cash values affects my thought process, as MS do the same, but I don't mind banking points.

Eugh, I hate myself.

New Vita/PS3 ad with Japanese hero Kikaider http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7tARZSo8Ec&feature=youtube_gdata

Why Kikaider? lol

Pretty much all of the new animation from the past 5 years (Kai excluded) hasn't been dubbed into English, so I wouldn't be counting my chicks before the eggs hatch.

Movie tie-in game is going to be Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission for 3DS. Comes out around the movie's release. It's a port of an arcade game that's been running since 2010 on PS2 hardware. It's a card game. 3DS version has worse visuals that the arcade. : /

All of the new animation from the past 5 years has been short filler garbage tacked as bonuses to random things. About the only way we don't get an english version of a new cannon movie for DBZ is if funimation goes out of business before it releases. (as far as I know they aren't at any risk of this) DBZ is constantly in the top anime sellers on amazon, it almost never leaves it and in general it prints money for funimation in NA. I mean for crying out loud they are continuing Kai for funimation to sell in NA without any current plans to air it on japanese TV. There is no way funimation skips it.

slightly more on topic... I bet full HD video of DBZ kai would look super sexy on the vita screen.

The first night that I've had my internet back running at home in a week and my Vita ran out of battery overnight so didn't do a PS+ sync. So since I downloaded 2.01 I've still not had it do its thing through no fault of its own!

Also, how's Big Sky Infinity, Vitabros?

YOU WILL SWITCH OFF THE COMMENTATOR

Annoyance+

other than that, it's okay. Not winning any awards, not totally smelling of poo.

for those who have completed persona 3 portable what lvl do I need to be so that Nyx cant just randomly one shot me out of the blue from full health? Im lvl 72 at the mo.

Also what level can you beat death (never even tried yet)

Really torn between Ragnarok Odyssey or Persona 4 Golden as my next game. I was going to pick up P4G a few days ago but gameplay videos looked a little meh and there seems to be too much emphasis on the plot. Having a good story is welcome but if I'm going to be reading thousands of lines of text, the gameplay bits better be top notch. Really the only thing making me consider P4G at all is it being the highest rated game on Vita.

no idea. Don't have wifi.

Can you give any examples? People have said it's pretty repetitive but that's mostly the only complaint I've been hearing.

I wish that Futurlab could put out an update for an optional color scheme for people like me with red-green color deficiency. I can't be at the top of my game like it is right now.

Hiya, it's sad to hear that you're struggling to distinguish the colours :(

Are you able to put six colours alongside each other that you can distinguish, and give us the HEX codes for those colours?

We *may* be able to do an update...
