I'd say Returns had more angst than emotion. Its like Singer wanted to recreate the success Spider-man had at the time so applied that hormonal teenage drama to his Donner-obsessed vision. But Superman is meant to be an adult, technically older than the Reeve counterpart by 4 years, but he came off looking like a love-sick, immature emo. The whole thing was a clusterfuck, honestly. Supe's fly-crying was laughable.

Either have Superman go up against a physically powerful enemy, or have enemies that he can obliterate in droves whilst maintaining a PG rating, like Thor fighting the frost giants.

Just watch this and tell me it wouldn't be awesome in live action.

God damn that's so awesome. The scene where Supes catches Black Adam's punch (4:00) where the impact causes everything around them to move...that's what I fucking want.

Make the audience believe that this is the most powerful superhero to ever exist. I'm sure Snyder will do Superman justice here and his love of slow motion actually makes him a good fit action wise, at least. The take off scene in the trailer is a good start. We'll see about the story telling though.
