I really would love to visit New York some day. It is indeed romanticized, or maybe that's the wrong word, it is certainly the most well known city. My american friend once told me that besides San Francisco and New York there isn't really a lot of good places to visit in the US.

Your friend needs to travel more. Every city has its own charm and historical significance. Chicago is a city where I find new stuff to see and do every time I go. I'm not sure what your friend considers "good places" but theres more than New York and San Fran!

Oh, I'll show you stuff to see and do the next time you come around.

This statement is much more deserving of all the gifs on the last page than CFK's was. There's a whole 95% of the country in between those two states that's full of worthy sights, including a slew of national parks (Yellowstone! The Grand Canyon! Red Rock!).

By romanticized I mean idealized, not necessarily romantic.
Saying something is romanticized or idealized are essentially the same, but I agree with you. I'd hesitate to say that any city in the US is romantic, but that's probably because I live in the country. I haven't seen Seattle portrayed (favorably or not) in nearly enough pieces of media to even consider it.

"Sleepless in Seattle" or "Frasier".

You've never seen Frasier? Tell me you've at least seen Cheers though.
I've seen small clips of it, but I was rather young when it originally aired. Cheers ended before I was born, and all I know about the show is that it has something to do with a bar in Boston--and the only reason I know that is because I walked by said bar.

It's worth watching it. I saw it years after its prime. It may not be easy to get into though, I know it took some watches before I started liking it. Then I was hooked.

Oh sure, he wasn't saying the US sucks or anything like that, only that those were like the big world-class destinations. We were actually talking about what cities we should visit next but not just for tourism but for work and living as well.

Ugh, I promised myself I wouldn't find someone new until I secured my income and living, but oy, it might happen anyway, seems like just the guy for me except for a couple of bumps on the road that I can see so far. Don't know what to do yet, darn you charming guys!

You made a list of world class destinations and didn't add Las Vegas? :O

Lol now I feel old. I remember the run up to Cheers' last episode.

Yeah. You don't need to see Cheers to watch Frasier (though it does help.) as they do a decent job with his backstory for those who never watched the other. It helps that they would occasionally have guest spots from former Cheers castmates (except Kirstie Alley).

Also...

Niles & Daphne >>>>>>>>>>> Sam & Diane.

I had no idea Cheers and Fraiser were related in any way.

The anirondack mountains in New York state are great.. and Euerka, California is one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world. That's just in two states. Your American friend is wrong.

I haven't been active on Gaf for a while because of college. I figured that I should post something to say hey to you all and see how you all are.
I have two days left of classes this semester. Monday and Tuesday.

Seattle has been portrayed in a disproportionately large amount of media relative to its size. There's actually been a lot of TV shows and films set here. (I think it's because its so similar to Vancouver, and it's convenient to film in Vancouver)

I wouldn't call it romantic. There are far more romantic cities in the US.

NYC, I think is romantic, due to the nice fancy restaurants and the Empire State building. I went there with my Boyfriend in February for dinner and a nice walk of the city also a nice ride up to top of the E.S.B.

This is how I feel about NYC

You know, I first came to NYC as a tourist, liked it a lot but didn't think I'd enjoy living here. Then I moved here a few years later and the experience has been totally different. I love it here.

However, having lived in both Paris and New York I can tell you that Paris is just effortlessly romantic. New York has its moments but let's get real here.

Did you live in Paris alone? I know that Paris is expensive, but is it possible to find a place that's decent and affordable?

I admire and envy your living opportunities.

I found a gay porn pic in an old thread and the text below makes it hilarious. I'm not sure if I can post the link without getting banned though.

Have any of you ever been approached by a porn star? I have a few months ago and I refused but now I just see him on another dating site and I kind of regret it now. Damn it.

define porn star. it's such a loose term now.

I've definitely been approached by a guy who claimed to be a porn star and have met some who had done some videos. The one who approached me wasn't what most of you would consider a 'star', but he'd supposedly made quite a few movies. I wasn't interested and didn't care to check it out.

Professional porn star. I'm not sure if he still does porn though.

Well physical attraction, yes.

Honestly, as much as I hate to say it: Nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day if you're going to grow old with someone you might as well be able to see a pretty (to you) face with a few glaring personality flaws over someone that may have no personality flaws but looks ugly to you. *shrug*

professional is also very ambiguous ;) . It's relatively easy to be in a couple of videos and get paid these days.

I don't want to give away his identity but I'm checking out his filmography and he's been in 30+ movies in a period of 3 years. Most of them are from well known studios.

I refused because he was looking for a relationship and I'm not sure if I can have a relationship with a porn star.

Sounds like you did the right thing (if he wasn't willing to give it up for a relationship) imagin if you split up, insted of facebook stalking you'd be pornsite staking literally being able to see the latest guys he fucked. Painful!

I don't think most people could, though arguably, depending on the person, it might not be all that different from someone not in porn ;)

Which porn star was it? I think they've already exposed just about everything, wont hurt them.
