Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Ah cool. Well I'd be up for something like that. EU would be a bit more tricky since I am not sure which country have the same codes in Europe :/ But the US gaffers at least, interest in a christmas gifting? I'd say we make a list of people wanting to participate, then randomize who needs to gift to whom and then gift a code of a PS1/PSP/PSVIta mystery game between $5 and $10

Secret Santa Repost. Anyone interested?

We'd buy gift codes via Gamestop. If you dont have a US credit card, you'd need to ask a US gaffer to buy the gifting code after you send him the money via paypal.
Here are the games:
Vita
PSP+PS1

I'd do the randomizing for who needs to gift to whom and tell everyone via PM, after that you'd look at the list the person provided and think of a game to gift.

No clue how well it would work, but I'd love to try.

We'll be doing it during christmas 24th-26th december (whenever works for you). We'll still wait until 20th for more people to sign up, then I'll tell everyone who they need to gift to.

However, I cant work out which US gaffer can help people who dont have a US card. I'd say those people have until 20th to find someone to help them.

If yes, copy the list and add yourself:

I'd say we make a list of people wanting to participate, then randomize who needs to gift to whom and then gift a code of about the price of a $5,99 PS1 classic? (Or more if you DESPERATELY want to gift that $9,99 Vita game)

I'd be in.
I don't think there would be any region free download codes available anywhere, unless you contact customer support for the game you receive and get EXTREMELY lucky and they give you an EU code.

But yeah, I'd be all for a NA giveaway. I just mentioned how mad I was at myself for missing the GAF secret Santa due to not having money at the time and not thinking. Why not boost the max price to $9.99, though? That way we could get a PSP or Vita game, too! Obviously you could also buy a $5.99 PS1 classic, but making the limit $10 could provide for some exciting mystery in what you might get!

Is LocoRoco Midnight Carnival the only PSP demo available on Vita store?
I think so, for NA, at least. The JPN store has a few more PSP demos that work on the Vita.

Changed the price. I didnt even mean cross REGION gifting, but more like thinking about the EU pals. Can a swedish PSN user gift a code to someone living in Portugal? And also: Do all of the EU countries have gamestop selling all of these codes?

Added you to the gifting list :) You'd still need to write up a list of games you already own and genres you like/dislike though.

Got my Uncharted Platinum over the weekend, and I have to say, it's been probably the most enjoyable Uncharted experience in my eyes. Loved every minute of it and hope to see another entry from Bend.

I'd be up for the whole Secret Santa thing. I could even do it via my US account. I just don't know how we would sort everything out. I'd have no idea where to get PSN game codes or anything else, and even the whole sorting out of who got who.

(Check here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316058 )

Btw do we have a maximum and minimum spend?

so I was playing some space shooter for 2 bucks on the vita and it was going fine. I beat a boss it saved, i moved onto the next boss and my game froze and eventually showed
"playstation vita an error has occured. (c1-2858-3)"

I figured I just got a random rare bug and ignored it, my wife was playing a bit later, she is a bit farther in she beat two bosses and then on the third one she got the same error :/

anyone know what causes this... also it seems that we may have been doing the same level, the one side boss to the bottom right to the second main boss. we aren't sure though lol

I'll never understand why the Xbox 360 and Sony platforms don't offer gifting of games. Seems like a no brainer.

I know I've wasted money on Steam gifting games to people who never bothered to play them. Free money for Valve!

Ultra easy to sell games bought with stolen cards like this ?

Bunch of guys from my WoT clan suffered a scam like this.

Yeah, me too. I felt like giving something back to the Vita community right now though, so thats why I'd like to try the Vita Secret Santa ;)

I can't bring myself to play much more Persona 4. There's just sooo much talking, and I'm usually an RPG player, but this is ridiculous. It's like the codex of a rpg, but you have to hear every bit.

I don't do secret santa.
Though I might not mind buying a game or PSN card for a lucky Vitabro if they can't afford it. ;)

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Stranger's Wrath Vita was on par with the Xbox version in terms of environmental textures and models. Shader complexity looks reduced too, but that's the price for native res.

Honestly, I've had a look through Gamestop's available library, and I don't think there's much of anything I'd really want. Well at least not in the $5-$10 range. And the more I think about it, I realise I'd rather get as little as possible for my US account due to the annoyance that is switching accounts on Vita.

Sorry, but I think I might opt out

Even more baffling than that to me Nintendo's very first download store allowed gifting, and their three subsequent ones did not.

Why? :\

Wait. what kind of RPG did you play before P4 if you think P4 talks a lot?

Sure,no problem. I think there are enough PS1 games personally, but that is of course your own decision :)

Most of the dialogue options in infinity engine games is optional

I assure you, games like baldurs' gate and planets cape torment has WAY more dialogue than P3, P4 combined. P4 is actually quite modest when it comes to amount of text.

also besides you can press start button twice to skip just about everything in P4G. I don't see reason for complain.

Sure, but you missed a lot by skipping conversations in Baldur or Planescape.

But you're also playing the game a lot in those games. You can go days on end in Persona 4 without doing any combat.

So because I can skip the text, I'm not allowed to dislike the game?

.......

uh.

yeah. I think p4g is not your type of game, man. Grinding is very minimal in this game.

Seriously though I wouldn't even play planetscape torment if there is no dialogue at all.

So because I can skip the text, I'm not allowed to dislike the game?

You can dislike however you want but 'I don't like it because there is too much text and can't skip it' is not a valid opinion, because it is flat out false.

You still have to hear it even if you skip it. It's still going to require that input from you every single time. You're making it sound like I said something which I did not, which is flat out false.

But most of the games on PS1 that I might normally be interested, I already have :(

Haha, as I said. Dont feel bad about it! Perfectly fine. I dont even expect to get a game I DESPERATELY want btw, I just want a cute surprise game which someone else thinks I might like ;)

I was just looking at the soundtrack of the year thread and I noticed Ragnarok Odyssey was scored by Kumi Tanioka.

WHY DIDN'T ANY OF YOU TELL ME THAT!?

it practically sells me on the game on its own, jeez

hear what? that tape rewinding noise? -_-

Your first complain was 'P4 has too much text'.

then I asked you what other game did you play before P4 and you mentioned game like baldur's gate which is known for crazy amount of text.

Then you said those games have skip option, which P4G also offers. (and really, I mean if you played game like pokemon only and complain about P4G's text data size, then I would understand but come on, baldur's gate? Seriously? You think that game has less text than P4?)

So I said well, then there is no reason for complain and now you are saying you don't like the game because you have to listen to the rewinding like noise?

If you have complain about music or character I understand your point since they are based on personal preference. But come on. this is absurd.

The Vita is one year old today in Japan. I just realized I've plate games almost exclusively in it the whole time. I never even finished Ni no Kuni after it arrived!

I liked The Walking Dead. Should I get VLR? I haven't...and won't...play 999.

Despite what people say you can play VLR without playing 999. Try the demo on the PSN store of the survival/adventure mode and the puzzle mode and see if it strikes your fancy since it is a different style of adventure game from the Walking Dead.

GAF, are Chrono Trigger load times bearable on vita?

No. And this needs to be put in the OP with big highlighted coded bold letters.

PSX titles are .iso dumps made into the eboot.pbp format. Anything that was problems (load times/glitches) in the original release are still present here.

Its not comparable to WD at all. But yes, VLR is fantastic and very much enjoyable without having played 999. The demo isnt quite representative of the game since the story and the whole point of the game isnt represented in the demo. I'd argue that a certain mechanic in VLR is novel enough to consider the game (series) a must play of our generation for every video game enthusiast.

Its also pretty long. You'll get 35-40 hours of SP content here.

Yep. I don't know why i bothered buying Chrono Trigger on PSN when I still have the much superior DS version. Loading times are atrocious compared to elsewhere. Only get Chrono Trigger off PSN if you have no other way to play it.

Kagari told me you absolutely have to at least youtube 999 because VLR is apparently tied into the true ending of 999 a lot. As for VLR itself I should get it tomorrow so I can't exactly give a recommendation on it yet.
