That's a shame. Wish I could show off how gorgeous it looks on the Vita.

Also I got an email from Amazon.. they cancelled my EDF Vita preorder? Is it really cancelled?

I'd love for someone to take a proper photo of it :-o
Sounds great that it apparently looks great on Vita.

Couple questions. First what's a good thing to use to clean the screen with a protector on? I was using glass wipes before I put the protector on but this is more of a plastic type surface now.

Second how do I change what activity gets posted on the friend wall? Too many games spam just about everything I do on there and at least in Assassin's Creed's case the stats it posts are completely wrong and not even close.

So glad to see another person excited for it like me.

It's just that the Xbox 1 version look better than the Vita version(I need to see more screens for a better judgment)

It's for my bf :)

And yeah I'll have to borrow some money and buy a 4gb one for now

Nice..but come one get him a 16GB one at least.

Also and this is very important..tell him to not buy P3P and MHFU since they are horrible.

*lol I have problems reading today it seems*

Not so sure about the first one since I don't have a screen protector(big mistake :|).

But for the second, it's pretty easy. Just go to Settings and there should be a Notifications option under "Application Data Management" and above "Sound & Display," which should allow you to filter notifications.

I think they should use "PSP" name again for the inevitable revision.

People sure use still use PSP name when they search for Vita, look here.

Is psp/ps1 emulation this bad on Vita or is it just the games I'm playing? FF tactics psp has tons of slow down and wierd purple lines in the middle of the screen most of the time as well as flickering pixels. FF9 has similar issues.

I didn't see anything for the friend wall just notification settings for me like if I didn't want pop ups when a message came or something.

On the contrary, they should redesign it so it doesn't look like a PSP. Marketing towards an audience wider than "PS3 owners, male, 18-24" would also do wonders.

kind of like how the 32GB is for the 3DO on amazon ahhhhhhhhahahahaaaaa

I need to take reading lessons since I fail to do it on most occasions. ): I don't know if it'll work, but maybe if you turn off "LiveArea Screen Refresh Status" it'd work? I'm just guessing at this point.

had ~15 euro left in my wallet and simply bought MGS3

just because I was was bored!

It has "transfarring", right? maybe I can bring over my PS3 save-game

Sorry to hear, but that seems to be game issues. Someone else mentioned that the PS1 game Alundra looks amazing on Vita and all of my PSP games work beautifully too. FFT is known to have slowdown issues on PSP though. I havent read much complaints about PSP/PS1 emulation otherwise.

.

Usually the emulator is pretty good for most games (at least for the few PSone PSN games I have) but there is few issue for some games here and there (MGS1 have lag in codec scenes)

Vita's PSP emulator on the other hand is pretty amazing. but they still need to add anti aliasing option (2xAA will be enough).

Doesnt the PSP emulator have a smoothing option? Whats the difference between that one and 2xAA?

well the Bilinear filtering Vita use is cheap and just put a blurry filter on the textures, now some real AA method will clean the the jaggies and keep the IQ sharp (see the Xbox 360's Xbox1 emulator for an example),2xAA is really not hard for Vita's GPU (GX543MP4+) but I'm not sure what Sony engineers are doing or if there is some other problem..but on paper Vita GPU should handle it.

Trying to find a comparison of the same picture being shown with 2xAA or BF, but I sadly cant find anything.

It must just be that shitty FF psp game. Then again I've seen those purple lines in the middle a bit on FF9 too. It's like rows of 3 purple lines next to each other all through the middle of the screen. I'll have to wait until PS+ gives away more psp games to find out if it's just that game.

I know what your talking about but this is the best I can find.
I wouldn't say "of course!". Mind you I haven't actually seen a PSP game running on the system but this quick photo shop I whipped up speaks for itself. Bilinear filtering has it's disadvantages as you can plainly see. There are some games where you definitely wouldn't want it on.

So I started AssCreed3 over the weekend, and wow, I can't believe its buggier than Liberation.

Also Did Sony announce any Hannah Montana Vitas yet? Because no lavender, no buy.
kidding. :D

Hannah Montana is old news no one care anymore.

Sony need to use their Sony Music power and release One Direction:The Game exclusively for Vita. :P

They could release a purple Vita with Miley Cyrus movies on it.

"The Purple Kush Bundle". You know, cause Miley, uh, never mind...

FFT is well know for having those slow downs in psp version but i never heard about purple lines.

The stuff i tried playing (legacy of kain, FF7, TO, GEB, P2IS, P3P, Lunar) was perfect.

Yeah I think the lines are an emulation issue either with that game or the Vita trying to run that particular game. I don't really have much of a sample size to test, only that as far as PSP games go. I do have a bunch of ps1 games I could download but I'm more concerned about PSP emulation since I'm more likely to play my ps1 games on my ps3.

Again Vita's PSP emulator is almost perfect (lack of AA options is my only problem) and with the mapping option it's the definitive way to play PSP games.

Vita's PSOne emulator has some issues here and there for some games (and is overall better on PS3)and got one advantage over PS3 with the sleep mode.

Is anybody else having issues installing games? I'm trying to install the Uncharted update and it stops installing halfway through.

I tried downloading a demo and it stops installing half way through. Tried downloading an app, same thing. Anyway to fix this ?

When in doubt, do a hard reset. Press the power button for thirty seconds until the unit completely turns off.

Oh wow. If the Vita were able to do that, I'd buy a lot more PSP games.

Those screens are rendered natively at way higher res(720p?), Vita can't do that.

What Vita GPU can do however is to add 2xAA (or even 4xAA since AA is almost free for Vita's SGX543MP4+) which will give much cleaner look to the upscaled PSP games like the 360's XB1 emulator.

Yes, that's what I meant. What are the chances that Sony would implement 2xAA or 4xAA though? :/

I'm about 2 hours into FFT on my Vita and haven't had any issues with purple lines appearing on it.

Booted up FF9 and played for a bit, and no lines there either. How far are you until they show up, or are they just there?

It happens pretty much from the start, not during the talking scenes but when the prologue battle starts.

2xAA would be great the Vita should be able to do this....

look at these emulator screen from a different thread.

Those two screenshots also re-rendered PSP polygons with higher resolution, so it's more like HD remaster.
While I agree that Vita could do this, I am really doubting that Sony would enable this, since the industry is trying to regard re-rendering at higher resolution as an added "value".
(To simply put, they'll rather release re-mastered version as the different title).

It is rumored that Sony has already giving PSP re-mastering engine to third party devs. Of course it is just a rumor so we'll see..

huh..

Derrick maybe your Vita is broken/dying? you need to test some of the other PSone games that are knowing to not have any problems and see what is going on. (i heard of few Vita that got GPU issues..it's very rare tho)

Is there an app or way to take notes? I really enjoy being able to pause a game at any time and do something else, but a notepad would make playing some stuff easier.
