Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Okay, so I'm thinking of documenting the changes from NG2 to NGS2, and any additional changes from that to NGS2+. Good idea, or un-needed OT bloat?

Yeah I don't think it's something I really noticed when I was younger. But growing up and being in really advanced English/literature classes in high school and college kind of makes it hard to not notice. It's a wonder I'm able to put up with any video game story now lol.

The game is very text heavy and dialogue heavy, even more so than 999 was. Even if I don't mind it that much, I spent a lot of time in the game hammering on X since I can read much faster than the text scrolls, and it would have taken miles longer to finish the game without. Also a lot of the dialogue might seem meaningless at the time, and is repeated often (a bit too often if honest), but there's usually a reason for it which you discover later on.

Saying that as much as I loved the game and would recommend it to other's, if you are already getting annoyed at the text then this game might not really be for you. It took about 15 hours for me to start getting really frustrated at the sheer volume of reading required in this game, and if you're already feeling it, then you might not survive the course

Yeah I don't mind a ton of dialogue it's just when they start talking a lot and nothing is really being said then it grates on me. If story or biographic information isn't being given out then it should be establishing personality in a character but when 2 dimwits are standing next to each other asking what's going on back and forth it's just wasting my Vita's battery life.

After that I did enjoy the puzzle section. It wasn't hard but wasn't mind numbingly, Uncharted levels of easy. A perfect way to start this kind of game off.

PSA: I was browsing amazon today and noticed that the download code for Patapon 2 is $4 on amazon (you have to have it shipped, but it qualifies for free super saver shipping). If you don't have this game on your vita yet GIT IT!

Why are PSP prices on US PSN so bad? I've suddenly got a crazy urge to go on an RPG rush, and there quite a few PSP games that are on US PSN but not UK. But I noticed overall prices and everything in general is miles cheaper on UK PSN.

What's going on there? Normally US prices should be cheaper if you factor in the way everyone seems to handle the exchange rate.

Stranger's Wrath HD, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and Knytt Underground. In addition, Rayman Origins, LBP Vita, and Escape Plan will be on sale.

Maybe he meant for PS+.
And in that case the answer is a resounding NO.
All we have is the 3 sale items where we get an extra discount.

I'm still stunned by the utter failure that is Anomaly as the PS+ offering this week. UGh.

I know. It's frustrating. But from that one list you made a couple days ago, you would have been disappointed by pretty much anything!

No interest wasn't disappointment.
There were very few titles which would infuriate me.

With that said, another PSN game for PSN and a poor choice of one at that... yeah, it really is frustrating. On a positive note, I think I'll pick up LBP Vita tomorrow... it's surprisingly well done, considering how much I didn't like the PSP version I tried.

On a sad note, it's bad when MS does better sales than Sony, as typically for me, the PSN sales have made the MS sales look terrible... but the MS countdown to new years already has me on the fence for buying like $20 of extra MSP and marking my calendar for specific days that deals will be available. :lol

Edit:

Thanks, Shahed for pointing out my stupidity on linking to my own post. ;)

No, I didn't say infuriate, lol. But I assumed that if you didn't have any interest in a game, or as you put it "no thank you", you would have been disappointed if it had been on the + list. But yeah, LBP Vita definitely recommended. Have you played the full game before?

I know, but think about the crazy amount of times that PSN's sales have obliterated XBL's. Not to mention this is one week of three weeks of sales. I also think the sales will get better in the next two weeks since people will have more money to spend AFTER Christmas (from I assume a large amount of PSN cards being Christmas gifts) than the week before.

Yeah, we can hope, but I'm not expecting anything.

And I've played a good amount of LBP and LBP2, but not LBP Vita.
I tried LBP PSP quick and decided I didn't like it.
I think the most annoying part of LBP/LBP2 were the prize bubbles that required 2+ people got get. :(

But I have to say, they really did nail the "console in your hands" experience of LBP as far as I can tell from the demo.

Also cool: the demo is the locked full game, so it lets you download and install the free outfits. :)

Oh so you just played the demo. Yeah the whole game is fantastic. You'll enjoy it a lot. I'm a pretty big LBP fan but I didn't really enjoy LBP PSP, either. It was just hard for me to go so far backwards in graphics.

Wow. These Vita threads really move nowadays! Guess that's a good thing and hopefully means more GAF assimilation to the Vita collective.

I'm thinking of picking up Rayman (on Vita of course) when it goes on sale this week. To anyone who has completed it, about how long of a game is it and how challenging would you say it is?

I was thinking of holding out until it was a plus freebie but there was a comment on the PS3 blog that there weren't any near term plans to give it away with plus. After playing the demo, it has definitely made my list of future pickups. Such a gorgeous game.

Sometimes misters have boyfriends. Sometimes misses have girlfriends.

I was curious about the Tamaster too, so I watched a brief Youtube since someone mentioned his. Nice voice hes got, much better than mine. I kind of sound like Kermit the Frog, LOL!

Ive got 2 NanoAssault videos from last fall, for 3DS (1 YT and 1 Vimeo) - the name is unrelated
to this or my IGN/PSN name, though. Wont tell you, though :>

It's entirely worth that price. I've said this umpteen times and I'll say it again. It is the best platformer I've played in the last 10 years. I've bought it 3 times and platinumed it twice. I'm fully planning on supporting the game again with the $14.70 digital sale so I can keep it forever on my Vita for replaying.

Some of the later levels can be a little bit challenging, but it's never to the point where I wanted to throw something... some of the deaths can be a little cheap, but only if you're trying to plantinum the game by doing the speed challenges or completing the secret level.

Depends on your definition of "completion".

If you're talking just a play-through, without much/any replay for collection, I'd say maybe 5-10 hours. If completion for you is Platinum, I'd say probably 25-30 hours.

Again, challenge depends on what you want to do with it. It's fairly manageable as a casual play-through and the difficulty only ramps up right at the end. If you're going for Plat though, you have time trial challenges and collection challanges, some of which are VERY difficult.

Finally. Got the max rank in AC3: Liberation's multiplayer.

Sweet lord, that multiplayer is boring. At least you get some good EXP jumps "defending" nodes.

Now to finish the side-missions and collectables. Ugh.

I'll have to try this.
Thanks for the tip, and sorry for the lost time.

It's not a huge jump, or maybe the defending challenges added to it, but I seemed to notice a small EXP increase when I relogged in six hours later.

I really wish some of the "collections" for PSP would get sales.

Metal Slug Anthology
SNK Arcade Collection (I used to love Magician Lord... sort of wish it was cross buy for PS3/PSP/Vita)
Gradius Collection
etc.

I demand to know why you have not played a Ys game yet! It's literally Action/RPG

See above post about expensive PSP games.
Tekken/Soul Calibur are still over $35, I think.
The Ys games are all $15 plus.
R&C is $15+...
Those collections are $20 usually.

I've played all the PSP ones! I fuckin' LOVE Ys. I own them on UMD though, so I didn't list 'em cause I'm not opposed to being gifted a digital version of any of the games. :)

That's okay then, you're forgiven :P

Just reading that list and the type of games there, the omission of Ys was glaring.

EDIT: Damn I never knew they linked the box arts like that. That's pretty cool and I love stuff like that. Now I'm jealous. Still it reminds me I need to get Ys Chronicles at some point

Haha, I had them typed originally, but I decided to omit all the games that were UMD only/have the UMD but don't want digitally. I have Persona 1 and P3P too, but wouldn't mind a digital version of those as well, so I didn't list 'em.

Yeah I never bothered listing my UMD games. Besides even if I would want digital versions of them, they are all UMD only, with Square being the main culprit :(

That Prinny game....is not for me. Waste of $5, should have got Alundra instead, but I am so weak when it comes to sales. Live and learn. Made it to like the 4th level then it wanted me to run and jump to a platform with 2 flying enemies waiting on me that would hit me and knock me back in the water, ARGH!!! Figured if it got any more difficult (more cheap than anything) than that I would have to buy a new Vita because my current one would be out a window. '

because I am glutton for punishment I will probably pick it back up again later and push through

Cry some more. :D

I don't think I'd play it again, but I loved Prinny 1. Would have gotten 2 had the main premise of the game not creeped me out.

Pretty pumped to pick up Vita LBP for $17...I loved the demo. 2 more weeks of sales after this week as well.

According to comments on the PS blog, it looks like a new vita game is coming to (edit: SCEA) PS plus in the next 2 weeks (next week I think)

WTF this one hooligan won't let me pick-pocket the voodoo doll I need off him. :/

a little cross info from the class of heroes 2 thread

first bit is about a tomba 2 release
They don't own it, they licensed it. I'm not sure what the exact status is at the moment, but I know they're working on making T2 happen. There's a related fan-friendly secret, too, but they'll decide when to show it.

the second bit is about class of heroes 2
Game is fully playable and clean from beginning to end as far as we know (starting this final test). Vita compatability is the goal, and we'll do whatever we have to so it works on Vita. We have full source code on this end so we can change anything needed.

a January release is very likely and if it slips, it should be a very minor date change.

PSA: I was browsing amazon today and noticed that the download code for Patapon 2 is $4 on amazon (you have to have it shipped, but it qualifies for free super saver shipping). If you don't have this game on your vita yet GIT IT!

Wait Amazon.com has download code for PSP games? How can I find them?
