Got a Vita for Christmas! Very, very slick hardware, by far the most sexy handheld I've ever owned. I got PSN+ and downloaded Mortal Kombat yesterday. I will probably pick up a 16 GB memory card in the future (or even a 32 GB when they are cheap enough) for the few digital games I want to get (I prefer physical so don't need a lot of space).
From what I recall, Mortal Kombat got a lot of negative comments on its graphics so I was prepared for the worst. It's actually really, really nice from what I've played so far. The only time textures look a little off is in story mode, right before or after a cut-scene, when those little clips right before a battle are rendered with the game engine.
The games that I want to pick up myself are Persona 4: Golden (when it's a little cheaper), Virtue's Last Reward, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and New Little King's Story. I was also planning to pick up Mortal Kombat but I got that for free with PSN+ already!
Should I wait and see if NGS+, MGSHD or NLKS appear on PSN+? Because I'm not sure how often we'll get retail games. I figure I might as well pick them up since they are pretty cheap right now and I prefer physical anyhow.
It's awesome how smooth everything is, pulling those "sheets" down and just moving between all the open apps feels great. I'm also digging how some of the apps have a page that has shortcuts on them and how it updates in real-time.
The only negative is that those black splotches (OLED mura effect) are very noticeable. If the background is somewhat black (like a pretty dark shade of grey) I can pretty much always see this black slash. I have plenty more splashes and slashes but they never show up on those darker screens, it's just that slash. I'm not that annoyed by it but I assume the slash showing up pretty often is not normal?
