Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Thats true too, but apparently JP is getting quite a few more titles than the west does right? Vita JP and Vita West seems like completely different consoles now that get multiplatform titles between them once in a while.

So Sony US needs to get with the program, If it involves moneyhatting then so be it but I would not be so lax with the Vitas current state.

I mean come the hell on.... They IGNORED the thing at E3 this year. That's a low blow

Got my Vita today and i'm really liking it, P4 looks amazing on that screen. Quick question though.

It came with a 4gb card but I have a bigger one arriving soon. I have MGS3 and Gravity Rush on the 4gb and the space is basically all gone. When my new ones arrives can I just put more games on that and swap them out at will to play different games or will that cause problems? do I have to turn the Vita off first?

Apologies if this has already been answered 1000 times already.

That is actually pretty smart. Was that thing included in every KI purchase or was that an extra version?

every copy has it.

Sony in Japan NEEDs Vita to be successful because PS4 will likely have a sizeable chunk of a dying market in that region.

True, consoles market is completely dead in Japan.

SCEJ/SCE Japan Studio focusing on PS4 will be a complete waste (Sony already got SCEA and SCEE studios for that)

Not a problem. It's not like they contributed anything of note for the PS3 generation, so I'm sure SCEJ will be par for the fucking course.

And practically at TGS. Unless people actually enjoy seeing PSP Up-Ports. Soul Sacrifice was the only thing of note. But software is the long term, in the short term, they should have cut the prices on the console and the memory cards to spur more sells on a vital holiday season. Did the Black Friday deal and subsequent holiday bundles boost sales significantly for the Vita or was it a one off? Because I think it was a definite one off for Black Friday, and the holiday bundles haven't done much to significantly boost their numbers.

We'll see when they release their earnings, but I fear that it won't be as good as some of us has hoped.

given this game's $50 pentavision could've packed one of those with each copy of the game

Given the game has a very expensive mainstream Korean music artist license and some 50 songs on top of that Pentavision is probably not in the black as it is seeing as how they can't seem to get any retailers to actually carry the game

I'm not sure why they don't just revamp SCEJ and make them a Vita only company/studio. Get Dark Cloud 3 or another jeanne d'arc from level 5, get more games like soul sacrifice, try to moneyhat SE into making some kind of FF exclusive game. Do something :(

You need games to get people to buy systems, but devs don't want to make games unless there's already an audience there. So sony has to do something to break that deadlock.

Yay, more uncharted debates. Only this time no rankings were involved.

About the vita os responsiveness. It really is amazing. It blows away the ps3 I feel, and the 3DS isn't even on the same ballpark. It is actually one of the main reasons I primarily game on the vita.

You can swap them as you see fit so long as they are both tied to your PSN account. Make sure you turn off your vita before doing so, however. I've been reading that people who hotswapped their memory cards experienced less than ideal results.

Actually, it's probably NOT the actual cards (ie: the hardware) but the encryption/security overhead that accounts for the slow speed when moving content back and forth to the PC. Internal transfer speeds are fine, but the amount of security that Sony has layered on to the file transfer process is extremely taxing, especially as it's running exclusively on the Vita's CPU. You'd almost certainly get the same transfer speeds with a Class 10 SD card in this circumstance. That Eurogamer test is stupid; it doesn't test how fast the memory cards are, it tests how fast the data transfer rate is through Content Manager.

Been a happy vita owner since the amazon Black Friday bundle.

But the vita has never been able to identify my location. Both inside and outside and I am wondering if my gps is broken. Anyone else have this issue? I don't really care about near or the map app but who knows maybe a game will come out that uses this info.

Got Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault yesterday just to find that the Vita Cross-Buy version isn't avalible yet. Anybody know when it's going to be avalible?

Running low on my 32Gb card and I haven't even play any of my games... what should I delete/don't give a chance?

My girlfriend gifted it to me, I was able to configure and transfer the games from my PS3 but I'm not able to play any of them until January 6th...

Escape Plan was the first one I removed when I ran out of space, I haven't even downloaded Mortal Kombat because of the dl size! On top of that I never played any of the AR games so deleted them after the novelty wore off :)

So i got another $20 psn card from my sis. Brings me to $40. I could get Mgs HD now and still have 20 for next week but im still going to hold out a bit longer to see if they post whats going to be on sale before updating.

I also could hold onto the full 40 till EDF comes out...

Is any PSN only game worth saving... other than Stranger's? I wanna give Escape Plan a shot, but I'm not sure if any free (PS+) PSN game is worth trying it...

Play through uncharted. It's a nice experience. The game uses up quite a bit of space and, at least I, had no desire to replay.

Bolded the ones you can delete

Why is Escape Plan 2313Mb if it was initially 840Mb... What does the Escape Plan patch include? I'm thinking of deleting it and don't install any patch for it...

Ohh I see, they must have included all the extra levels as a patch and you only buy the unlock key... then I'm gonna delete it, download it again and keep it unpatched to save ~1500Mb

Seriously, its a pretty decent highscore game with some pretty effects and I posted more impressions here:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=44802743&postcount=14151

Its definitely among the best of those "AR" games, and it doesnt even need the AR cards.

And I dont own TravelBug but that app seems pretty neat as well. Whats your beef with it?

Fireworks it's a good game that deserves some play, but there's no need for it when you have tons of better things to play.

Travel bug seems neat indeed, but i never made a photo so i can't use it lol. Anyway no need for it when you have so much to play.

Ah, thats fair then :) It just made it seem like those are bad.

Hahahaha. No. Small maps that have spawn problems, aim acceleration issues, aim-bot AI. High damage rate even on normal difficulty.

CoD is trash.

*brofist*

I disagree. The smaller maps (Nukehouse, Container) lend for high XP, assuming youve racked enough kills. Its best to utilize bouncing betty and grenade launch weapon enhancements. Ive hit level 40, still play the game - hectic CoD style pray and spray. Ive found the aim works best, when you lower the sensitivity a couple notches lower than default. The AI is toigh, less so when utilizing burst (snap aim mechanics to target) shots.

The missions are bite sized, but enough that theyre enjoyable and replayable. The multiplayer is the meat of the game, as it is with any CoD game.

Is the game a perfect 10? but its enough fun and patched now togive about an 7.75/8 - then again, I enjoy the content they provided. Different strokes, I guess.

sidenote - got my first platinum (R:BS) yay!

Is their a good guide to make a EU PSN account? I'm in the US, but I have some spare 4GB cards and a 1 month sub to EU PSN+.

I'd like to try the EU PSN+ games.

I'd disagree with your score. The only good thing I can say about it is that it nailed the CoD look and almost nailed the gameplay. Unfortunately the small maps (play TDM on Nukehouse to see enemies spawning into you and vice-versa) in multiplayer, the aim acceleration issues (to where you have to spray and pray in the multiplayer) and high damage rate (and flinching to where your aim is up in the air 9/10 of the time) on Veteran in the campaign makes it a 3/10 at best. 1/10 at worst.

I guess they didn't put in an option to skip the 3-hour cut scene at the beginning of persona 4? That would've been such a great added feature, especially for people doing another playthrough.

Got a Vita for Christmas! Very, very slick hardware, by far the most sexy handheld I've ever owned. I got PSN+ and downloaded Mortal Kombat yesterday. I will probably pick up a 16 GB memory card in the future (or even a 32 GB when they are cheap enough) for the few digital games I want to get (I prefer physical so don't need a lot of space).

From what I recall, Mortal Kombat got a lot of negative comments on its graphics so I was prepared for the worst. It's actually really, really nice from what I've played so far. The only time textures look a little off is in story mode, right before or after a cut-scene, when those little clips right before a battle are rendered with the game engine.

The games that I want to pick up myself are Persona 4: Golden (when it's a little cheaper), Virtue's Last Reward, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and New Little King's Story. I was also planning to pick up Mortal Kombat but I got that for free with PSN+ already! :D

Should I wait and see if NGS+, MGSHD or NLKS appear on PSN+? Because I'm not sure how often we'll get retail games. I figure I might as well pick them up since they are pretty cheap right now and I prefer physical anyhow.

It's awesome how smooth everything is, pulling those "sheets" down and just moving between all the open apps feels great. I'm also digging how some of the apps have a page that has shortcuts on them and how it updates in real-time.

The only negative is that those black splotches (OLED mura effect) are very noticeable. If the background is somewhat black (like a pretty dark shade of grey) I can pretty much always see this black slash. I have plenty more splashes and slashes but they never show up on those darker screens, it's just that slash. I'm not that annoyed by it but I assume the slash showing up pretty often is not normal?

Does sony ship retail packaging or do they have some special not for resale package on the memory cards? Wondering if I could just use the amazon card I have now and then return the Sony card to amazon when it arrives :( really want to get the 32gb going ASAP!

Congrats.

Get Persona 4 Golden right now.

Since you have PS+ I doubt 16GB will be enough for you lol (stupid Sony need to bring bigger and cheaper memory cards soon)

I don't blame anyone for bashing Mortal Kombat, since MK sacrificed too much graphically to run at 60fps framerate it look like a crappy PSP game while on the other hand Marvel vs Capcom is native res, look very close to console version and and run at 60fps.

It's the same reason why some people are also hating on Sonic Racing 2 Vita since it's lazy port and Vita can do much better (Wipeout 2048)

I went to Best Buy with a copy of the Vita 32 Gb promo from Sony for $60 and the guy at the counter matched it.

It's good it all worked out I had the 16 Gb and I was starting to run into memory management issues.

Because of PS+ I am really looking forward to buying a vita but I just wish there was a sle or price cut in the UK.
It's a lot of money of a system that appears to have a risky future.

Didn't play so much for a long time - either I try to max 100% in Mutan Blob Attack, or playing and admiring Gravity Rush. Glorious handheld. MGS2+3 is waiting, bought it for 17$ on PSN.

When a game is downloading from the store, does the capacity remaining in System Information take that into account?

Eg: I have 2.5GB remaining, but my download of FIFA is 2.8GB, is that already registered in used space or will I need to find another 300MB from somewhere?

I really need a 32GB card soon.

Yeah, most Vita games probably look a lot better since Mortal Kombat also has one of the lowest resolutions of a Vita game. It still looks great to me though and definitely much better than a PSP game. I still have a huge backlog so I'll probably play through some shorter games first before I play Persona 4: Golden. I still have to start Persona 3: FES on the PS2 because I want to see if I like the new Persona games (3+) before I get 4. Persona 3: Portable didn't really convince me, I hope FES will.

Even more new owners joining us, woot! Welcome, welcome to you and you :)

Strangers warth is vitas goty

That is all

I dunno, those screens and gameplay videos look gorgeous but I'm not feeling the style at all. I hate the sound the enemies make or its kind of jokes or whatever you want to call it. It looks like a pretty appealing game but I just can't seem to be able to get into oddworld games. Maybe I'll have better luck with their other games they'll release in the future.

Yup, it does. I have a 4 GB memory card (3.8X formatted) and once I started downloading Mortal Kombat (a 3GB+ game) the free space immediately went down to 600 MB or something.

Persona 4 is amazing though. Put everything else down and play it.

Name + avatar combo is confusing me.

Hmm yeah, I know what you mean, the jokes (the farting etc.) might feel a little game. The Oddworld games on Playstation were amazing adventure games though. Lots of hidden secrets and I really liked the atmosphere of the world. Haven't played any of the games that they are rereleasing in HD though, so might pick those up. They are pretty damn cheap too, less than 10 EUR with PS+!
