If SRPG is ok, look into Tactics Ogre. Do it! One of the best games on PSP library.
For PS1 FF7, FF9 still hold up really well imo if we exclude the blocky character models of FF7.
Oh btw it breaks my heart Birth By Sleep is not on PSN. It's the #1 game I'd like to replay on Vita. Perhaps someday with homebrew...
If you end up liking Persona, it will take forever to finish. So I'd recommend getting other titles out the way so there's nothing to distract you from the 60+ hours you'll invest in it

I like FF8 alright but I wouldn't recommend it before the other 2. They are better games with better stories.

I played it last year and found it to still be a lot of fun. Really high production values, fun real-time battle system, cool sci-fi story imo, and a rather short but sweet play-time. It's certainly worth playing today, and should look fantastic on the Vita.

I love all 3, but only FF8 has Triple Triad.

Yup.
Buy PS+.
Go into Content Manger.
Select Cloud storage.
Vita to Cloud.
Press the i next to each game you want to auto upload.
Check auto-upload.
Tada!
Does this work for Ps1 saves? I don't have my vita yet but it would be nice to be able to sync them between the ps3 and vita.

No. PS3 and Vita use separate clouds.
To sync them between PS3 and Vita, you have to connect your Vita to your PS3 and use Content Manager.
There's been one since the week after it came out. For some reason SCEA made it search only, lol.
I only did a couple of missions on unit 13 but I had some solid fun. The framerate is pretty crappy when you're in a firefight with 2 or more guys and you're aiming down a scope. Otherwise it's solid fun with pretty decent controls. This is kind of what I wanted in the PSP days, love that 2nd stick 
Japan is responsible for Sony's largest selling game this generation. Its' $40 demo sold over 5 million units alone, and the main entry will likely surpass 10 million units before PS4 comes out.
It's not their fault SCEE and SCEA ditched Demon's Souls either. It is their fault they let Level-5 shit the bed with White Knight Chronicles though.
If you bought a WiFi bundle your Vita doesn't have GPS. Only the 3G units do. The WiFi versions ping off of nearby WiFi signals to make a location. Sometimes it's very inaccurate. People have said they had the service improve by going to Skyhook's (the company that provides Vita WiFi gps-esque stuff) website and inputting your info. I did this before Vita launched, and have never had a problem with it locating where I'm at.

For some reason I feel really tempted to buy P4G.
Haven't played a good RPG in a while and I've never played a persona game.
I'll have to backup Little Big Planet and Wipeout to download it though since I only have a 4gb memory card right now (32gb estimated arrival January 2nd)

Still on 4GB and completely happy with it. Have 5 games on it of which I play two "at the same time".
Through with Resistance: Burning Skies, which I would give some 70%. But now that I play Retribution I just realize how bad that "somewhat solid" effort of Nihilistic is, wish Bend would make a proper Resistance for Vita next.

Prepare to get lost in the glory of eye popping colors and Social Links. Im already nearing the end of my 2nd playthrough, ive never turned right around into a full 2nd play like that before. So addictive, so good.

I'm having a hard time playing some of the games in Smart As due to them not localizing it for North America properly, specifically the game where they say a word and you're supposed to spell it.
They're using the EU pronunciation of the word, which in some cases sounds like a completely different word, and words like Chateau are spelled like Chateaux which are pronounced the same.
Anyone else having this issue?

P4G is fucking incredible. First time i've played it and I fell in love with it.
Here's a question, because this is pretty much the friendliest place on GAF - when does one become a full member (as in not junior)? I thought it was three months or 300 posts, whichever came first, but I'm past both I'm likely completely wrong so feel free to berate me.
On topic: got AC3L for Xmas - holy crap that game is good, really enjoyable, both a refreshing entry in the AC series and a solid portable game. Really want to see another one.

, I am not sure when you aren't a JR anymore but if it's at 300 you aren't there.I couldn't get into AssCreed3L personally, but I haven't been able to get into the AssCreed (and I will always call it AssCreed and not AC because AC= Armored Core :/) hopefully in general though for the people who enjoy the series we do see more uncharted/CoD/AssCreed that have been given more time in development to make something special.
on a different note I am likely late to this party, but it seems sound shapes will be 50% off next week for NA plus members if the exploit for the ps store is to be believed.

I've owned 3 call of duty games, they were only temporarily mine as I quickly turned around to sell them for a profit, but I tried all of them and didn't like any of them. Only reason I want to see a proper CoD on the vita is because it might sell a few vitas and help get more NA/EU support to the system.

What are the best ps classics? Which ones hold up with todays games and aren't just nostalgia trips. I have 40 bucks in psn moneys.
I never owned a psone but have played ff7 and 8. I'm thinking about getting ff9 and mgs but don't know how well the later holds up since I have played twin snakes.

I agree, I might not be all that up for CoD Vita, but I hope they do a better one for those people who really do enjoy it.

I should point out for the purpose of this conversation that I abhor games on iOS that should use buttons, but it doesn't change the fact that many people are able to play them and play them very well.
I want to buy a couple PSOne classics for my PSP but being stuck with an european psn account I'm afraid they'll be the awful european versions (50Hz, black bars). I bought Vagrant Story when I used my PSP and it was awful, terribly slow and with an awful aspect ratio.
Any way I can avoid this? I know I can't assign another account to my memory card but can I buy games off the US PSN (maybe using a gift card I can buy online? I know the US PSN doesn't accept european credit cards) via PS3 and then trasfer them to my Vita (and my european account on its memory card)?
I also kind of remember they started adding NTSC psone games to the european store but I don't know how many of them there are :/

They're labelled as imports, and will have the flag of origin (JP/US) on the "box art".

My girlfriend gifted a Vita to me for January 6th "Reyes Magos"... I convinced her to let me transfer all the downloaded games from my PS3, but she doesn't let me play any until then.
The custom wallpaper per game/series is until I need the extra space.

Just copy them across as photos, and then you can select them for the backgrounds to each page by long pressing and then choosing the icon in the corner.
Hopefully the FW teams go into full action after the new year and give us unlimited screens so i can do this on multiple series on my vita, also we need to have access to customize the ps1 icons, that square just looks really ugly

Thanks, too bad only games that never got to Europe or newer releases as classics are NTSC. Really wish they'd give the opportunity to choose the original version for every game in the store since the whole 50hz/black bars issue was well known in the PSOne era.
Does anyone know if I can transfer and play stuff bought on the american store via PS3 on my european Vita?
